Just did a quick check of current standings and there does not look like there will be the usual number of 1 loss teams around the nation.  MIAC will probably have 1, WIAC not definite if Whitewater beats everyone else, OAC is not a lock John Carroll has to win out, the CC may have 1 if Hopkins beats Muhlenburg.  The CCIW has a shot but they are beating each other so most will end up with 2 losses.  Most of the other chances fall to leagues that usually do not get a C bid.  Go get it done.
If Del Val can manage to win the MAC that would be huge.

CNU85

CNU version of the hurry up offense. Stare at sidelines waiting for the OC to determine what play he wants, then hurry to get the play off in time.

No matter. No one ends up as second with one loss.

This is pathetic!
Elaborate please.

I was referring to CNU's lousy 1st half performance...I was on the verge of leaving after sitting through that garbage.  To their credit, they played much better in the 2nd half and probably should have won in regulation...the clock management and play calling was really bad...I blame the coaches for that loss.

Well things are starting to get interesting, Montclair beats TCNJ soundly and will now head to Salisbury for their second real test of the season, with an undefeated record. MSU's offense has been able to control the clock and put points on the board, their defense has had two consecutive shut outs, this should be a very even matched game.

Highlights from the TCNJ game are pasted beneath...

What a game this past weekend. Here are my thoughts on the game, the game came down to the wire (OT) as I initially expected, so the comeback by CNU was to no surprise. However, as I mentioned, Salisbury has a young team and still have yet to reach their potential offensively, which showed. In addition, when you can't finish games, you allow a good team like CNU who is amp playing under the lights at home to fight their way back. Key turnovers on special teams allowed for CNU to gain momentum which they seized. Their was poor clock managment on their part in regulation, but missed fields goals did them in. Salisbury has to be better on 1 on 1 matchups, it was clear on who the QB wanted to throw the ball to, that's on the players not executing the defensive scheme or the coach not coaching them on those situations. CNU WR that scored all the tds (not sure if one td was  a td), played the game of his life, kudos to him. Salisbury has to learn how to adjust to pressure pack situations on offense and not take the foot off the gas. I think the score at halftime went to to many players head thinking they were much better than their opponent, which almost caused them. Again, Salisbury is still learning how to play on offense and the offensive coaches made a minor scheme adjustment in ot to win the game. This was a great game and hopefully learning experience for the young offense and defense on how critical it is to put teams away. Hopefully this bring them down to earth a bit and makes them work harder.

Now on to homecoming, big weak for the Gulls and another well tested team and a team playing with confidence in Montclair State. Teams have played pretty much the same schedule, both beating CNU in OT at CNU. Although CNU capitalize on the man to man play calls, Salisbury defense has to continue to be aggressive, just have to learn when to press certain receivers and/or play off based on offensive scheme and down and distance. Offensively, have to mix up the option scheme to keep teams guessing and more hesitant. Will make a prediction sometime at the end of the week.

I saw this by multiple people so i'll just start a new thread. The better team did win on Saturday regarding FSU vs Wesley.  FSU held onto the ball for 40 minutes. Watching Wesley's offense, they cannot sustain drives and the rely on the big play ability. That's not how you win playoff football games. Wesley has a lot of talent at the skill positions but in now way shape or form were they better then Frostburg on saturday. The score resembles that as well as Frostburgs defense stepping up when it was needed.

Frostburg still has a long way to go in securing the Conference title. Salisbury and Montclair state both look tough but we shall see. The only hope for Wesley to win the conference is for frostburg to lose one game. (7-1 frostburg vs an 8-1 wesley). I dont see that happening but we shall see.

That game saturday was one of the best i've seen in a long time. It had everything a battle of top 10 teams should have. Big plays, steady scoring and last second heroics.

Onto the next game.

...then run it up the gut and get little to no yardage...horrible.

They made big plays because Frostburg's D could not keep up with Wesley's speed. Wesley's WRs were too fast. Wesley's o line struggled however IMO.

Frostburg benefited from a lack of execution from Wesley on the field. A botched snap in Frostburg territory led to a score. Wesley returner steps out at the 2 on a kickoff setting up another score. Call it what you want, but Frostburg did NOTHING to make those things happen. They just did. Self-inflicted.

Cox makes a huge mistake and throws up a jump ball to a Wesley defender that bounces off his chest as hes hit from behind and ends in a Frostburg touchdown. Bad luck if you ask me.

It was a game Wesley could have, should have won by 2 or more scores.

I've watched Wesley for 13 years. This was one that got away. When Wesley went to Brockport last year, they got beat because Brockport was better. They got beat by Del Val because Del Val was better. Im putting this game in the same category of the 2011 loss to Kean, the 2013 loss to Rowan and the 2015 loss to Salisbury.

This photo sums up quite a bit about the game.

...And don't forget the classic self-induced loss to Montclair State in 2007, which believe it or not, I still shudder when I think about it......

p.s.  Amazing to think that I have been following Wesley for 13 years now.  How time flies.......

so you discount's Frostburg's 4 other turnovers and a run game that dominated Wesley? Wesley has the inability to drive down the field and they rely on the big play to score points. It showed against SVU and now FSU. If they're not careful they'll lost to both CNU and SU with the way their defense is.

I remember that game, MSU had a big return to start the second half and my buddy Jason Wombough did his thing against that stud d end Wesley had to the point that he drew interest from some NFL Team.

From an outsider perspective regarding the Frostburg and Wesley game, I'll have to admit I was on the edge of my seat the entire game, I won't go into who is the better team. I do know that Wesley has and has always had tremendous athletes at receiver/tight end. However, Wesley offense has been at it's best when they had a dynamic QB and a smothering defense. I don't think the defense is that of the same caliber as the 2000s and early 2010s (can't believer I wrote that). However, Frostburg has taken a large leap the last couple year's and have went toe to toe with Wesley and had over 400 yards of total offense . Yes there were questionable calls, but Wesley controls their own destiny and have the players and coaching to put them in position to make another playoff berth. Overall, I enjoyed the game, I wish both teams could have loss (wishful thinking).

Yeah, Wesley had the game in the bag as Pennewell had absolutely exhausted the Montclair defense by the end of the game.  He pounded that D Line for everything they had and they were gassed in a big way.  The guy was a beast with a ball.  Anyways,  with less than a minute to go all Wesley had to do was punch it into the end zone and the game would have been over even with all of the mistakes up to that point.  Instead, an interception in the end zone ended that dream.......
