I never get worked up over the polls.  They are what they are.  Reputation plays a big part in where the top teams start and how much wiggle room they are given with 1 loss, usually to another top team.  St. Thomas being ahead of Wesley is easy to me.  St. Thomas started out ahead of them, both teams now have 1 loss, both against top 10 teams, so St. Thomas stays ahead of Wesley.  Margin of victory oftentimes gets out of hand in these top team games, so I don't put much stock in it as far as the poll goes.  In the end you get to play teams in the playoffs so it doesn't really matter where you are ranked.

Hitting the point in the season where Wesley has to flip the switch and let the better version of itself come out like it has historically around this time of year. No one to sleep on the rest of the way out. Rowan sits at 4-2, Montclair 5-1, Salisbury is 6-0 and CNU is 3-2 with two tough OT losses. Pool C seems to be a lock if they can win the rest of these games. A little better comparative glimpse of Montclair will be seen this weekend when they play Frostburg.

My midway assessment is this: offensively, you may not find a better set of skill players than Alex Kemp, EJ Lee and Ruhann Peele. Kemp is actually 1st among all active D3 receivers in career receiving yards (3000). That being said, the o line play is a little concerning and Burroughs has to do a better job of taking care of the ball. He has to be able to play within himself. Sometimes it seems he presses and gets into trouble with some of his decisions. Put a Joe Callahan or a Shane McSweeny in this offense... woah.

Defensively, the DBs have been VERY impressive compared to recent years, but the d line needs to shore up the run. Morant was the catalyst to Frostburg's offense two weeks ago. The defense ranks 2nd in the nation behind UMHB in pass yards allowed, but 128th in rushing defense.

Shaking my head at who ever scheduled Wesley for Rowan's homecoming this weekend ... As much as I love my Profs, they haven't demonstrated what it takes to keep up with a powerful team like Wesley.  In years past, Rowan's Defense was stingy enough to make the Wesley game interesting, but only a miracle will keep this from being a blow-out.

That being said, I'm excited about the young players at Rowan with a lot of potential. Recent D1 transfer, Sunny Tapp, has been a force in 2 games. Freshman QB Nick Couzzi has wheels and if the offense continues to stall, he may find more playing time in the final third of the season. Several frosh have cracked the depth chart including Glassboro's John Maldonado (WR) and talented OL, Tom Kane.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

Homecoming is scheduled by the university administration and alumni office and the like. At most schools, the football program is only given a "which weeks do you have home games this year" type of consultation.

Juggernaut CNU offense put up 59....as in yards after 1. Against WP. Sigh.

Weird first quarter in Glassboro... 14-7 Wesley.

21-14 Wesley at the half. Wesley's offense playing relatively solid so far. Defense cannot seem to get off the field, making for long drives. Don't know what the solution is there. Wesley will get first ball out of halftime.

Montclair took Frostburg to the wire, held lead most of game, our starting safety got booted for targeting, i'm all for safety but that was a very questionable call. We scored on 4th down to tie it, Frostburg on the very next play hit number 11 he raced 60 yards for a TD. We had them on the ropes, number 4 team in Country but came up short, can't blame refs but there were several questionable calls. Have to be honest and this isn't sour grapes, I wasn't all that impressed with Frostburg, very good but 4 in the Country, I don't see it, that said, congrats on the win.

just sloppy.  qb play is not good enough.  too many turnovers against an average rowan team.  need to find way to win.

I'm seeing the playoffs pass before my eyes.  Rowan is playing tough and Wesley is leaking the game away.  Burroughs fumbles the ball and when Wesley gets the ball back, he throws an interception on the first play.  Add a pair of huge plays and as the announcers mentioned "this is the recipe to defeat Wesley".

run defense not good enough either.  another missed extra point may be the killer.

thewaterboy

Extra point was the killer. Another very frustrating day for Khaaliq Burroughs. Two critical turnovers, and he takes 2 sacks in a drive where that cannot happen.

Wesley is sitting at home in November-December barring a miracle.

Congratulations to Rowan for an impressive victory today.  You guys played tough and ran over the Wesley defense and shut down the run game.  This was your win and one well deserved.

I suppose it is fitting that we lose Coach Mike Drass and subsequently miss out on the playoffs for the first time since forever.  Time to tear a page out of Whitewater's recovery playbook and find the way forward.  It simply was not Wesley's day and that was on both sides of the ball...... Now to complete out the season strong as tough as it will be and look to next year to rebuild.

This is uncharted territory for us Wesley fans.  Time head down to the kitchen and get a slice of humble pie.  ;)
