Interesting weekend. Results definitely didn't go as expected. Had a chance to watch both the Frostburg v. Montclair game and the Rowan v. Wesley game. Frostburg played well enough and found a way to win, killing Montclair MO with that 71 yard pass, otherwise that game was tilting towards Montclair. I initially wasn't going to watch the Rowan v. Wesley game, but when the score was tied midway through the 2nd, I said this is a game and what a wild one it was. Rowan defense was playing very inspired. Rowan appeared to always make a play when there was one to be made, Wesley not so much.  Now to the Salisbury game, the Defense was great all day with the exception of two plays. The whole unit was on today. The offense finally started giving the SB's the ball and letting them do what they do. I am not sure why one guy hasn't been playing, but the SB (FB) positions was phenomenal. Special teams was much better with the exception of the missed tackles on the fake punt, but at least it was now and not a big game. I still think the offense needs to do more with the short QB, he needs to do a better job on carrying out the option (to much East West), he needs to pitch a tad earlier to allow the Slots more room to maneuver. I think they need to compliment their players to become more effective offensively. Nevertheless, a win is a win and now we get to see this new Rowan QB for next week. Glad this upcoming week wasn't his 1st start.

Can not wait to for the SU FSU game.

It will be a good one, but if Frostburg stops the run, it is game over for SU.......

So..... Let me preface this post with the fact that I realize that Wesley's postseason chances are virtually nil, but what would need to happen in order for Wesley to somehow, someway make the postseason?

Say they win out. I know they need help (and a lot of it) from the rest of the nation. Has an 8-2 team ever snagged a Pool C?

8-2 Platteville from the WIAC is maybe the most recent example. Somebody else can probably share a few others. I'll quote wally_wabash's response about the possibility of an 8-2 Marietta making it:

is it in anyway possible 3 OAC teams make post season. could marietta get in at 8-2 with a decent showing against mount??

Of course it's possible.  They just need all of the CCIW runners up to finish with two or more losses, probably need the Bethel/St. Thomas winner to lose a second game, CWRU to lose a second game, HSU to lose, Salisbury to lose two or three times, Oshkosh to lose, probably need Central to lose again, will definitely need Muhlenberg to win the CC, would help if Cortland lost twice more, Centre is going to have lose a second game, and hope Misericordia and Kalamazoo come back to reality.  The Pioneers totally have a shot.

Quite simply, Wesley needs all of the Pool C candidates to lose and for them to win out!  With how they are playing right now, it seems the later is doubtful....   :'(

This weeks games are going to be very interesting. I am curious to see how Salisbury performs against a Rowan team with a new QB at the helm. Wondering if that Wesley game was an anomaly or signs that the future is bright for Rowan. Wesley also has a good Montclair team this week, which team responds. Both teams have a (although very thin) chance to when out. Wesley has the higher chance if Salisbury were to finish at 8-2 and be regionally rank.

I'm interested to see how Wesley responds knowing it is on the outside looking in for a playoff spot for the first time in 13 years. Do they limp to the finish? Or do they try and make a statement the rest of the way?

Might I add: The only teams with longer consecutive playoff streaks: UMHB and Mount Union.

Maybe it's because DB is old school and a bit of a douche bag but he will always feel, for whatever reason, a strong Rowan team is always a good thing for the east region.

Never count out a team that is hungry and talented with a QB that can run , pass and has a history of winning.

I know right...I was like that name very familiar. I know it can be challenging to post on the board when you are a parent of a current player.

Edit: Nevertheless, it appears that Rowan may have found themselves a QB, I just watch his HS Hudl and it was awesome. Having a decent QB can change the whole dynamic of a program. Again, Salisbury was fortunate enough to have at least one game tape. This weeks game gets more interesting by the day. We still have to stop Mannion, can't have that guy running around either.

Interestingly... it appears Coach A is leaning towards starting Riley Giles on Saturday.  After Couzzi's performance, I can't see why RG would get the start. RG's completion % has been phenomenal, but I still like NC's ability to scramble which keeps teams honest especially with the style of running Rowan uses.

I agree, I believe having a quarterback that can run, but at the same time keeps his eyes down field is great for any team. Giles has been decent in previous games, but being able to create more time to allow receivers to get open is something that Couzzi did well last week, but his ability to make timely runs was the difference.
