I feel like you are a lawyer... ;D

I am using those terms bc I am trying to paint a picture of how close it truly was, a loss is a loss a win is a win, fine. Still explain then, if a loss is a loss and a win is a win regardless of self inflicting errors, Wesley getting national votes, explain how one week Salisbury is not so strong in the eyes of the committee but the next week when Wesley beats them they are strong enough to warrant a 3 loss Wesley team getting votes.

Regarding Ithaca, the committee seems to think their two losses were against stronger opponents, when I said splitting hairs, I am referring to then Montclair's strength of schedule .572 and Ithaca's 541, Cortland 514, not sure which one trumps the other.

Real quick: Have you noticed how almost every time you describe a Wesley or Montclair result, you word it in such a way that makes MSU look as good as possible?  For example, when talking about MSU's losses, you make sure to include little anecdotes about how close it was, or how fluky the loss was. You'll say they took Frostburg "down to the wire". That they lost to Salisbury "on a fumble after we blocked their punt to run into the endzone for the win."

But when you describe Wesley's losses, it's just the facts. Montclair beat Wesley, full stop. Wesley lost to Rowan, full stop. Wesley has three losses, full stop.

Maybe this is unconscious, but it might explain why you have such an issue with the rankings. You're viewing every Montclair loss through the lens of how it almost wasn't a loss. But every loss by Wesley is a no-excuses loss. No mitigating circumstances or what ifs.

(Honestly, as someone with no real care whether Montclair is ranked ahead of Wesley or not, when I looked at the box score of their game against each other, I thought to myself: Wesley fumbled away a 1st and goal from the 1, gave up a TD thanks to an offside after MSU missed a FG, and then missed a 26-yarder of their own late. They outgained Montclair by 170 yards, and were even in turnovers. They probably should have won that game)

Look, I get it. I've seen a ton of IC people do it when talking about the RPI and Port losses, but funny enough, none of them mention how close the Hobart, Alfred, and Fisher wins were. I've just sort of noticed it your posts, and thought it was interesting.

We beat Rowan Head to head, they have 3 losses, we have 2, I mean??? isn't that enough? If I am completely wrong here I'll shut up.

Wesley getting national votes for top 25 with 3 losses? After we beat them head up and losing to a team (Rowan) we easily beat.

And nobody boosting Montclair ever seems to mention that Wesley beat a team which was and still is ranked in the Top 25.

You can go back and edit your posts. Might be good to just remove all of the quoting except for what you typed, unless you can actually fix the quotes

What a bunch of BS, we beat Wesley head on and beat Rowan soundly, a team they lose to, we take Frostburg to the wire and lose to Salisbury on a fumble after we blocked their punt to run into the endzone for the win. Last week we received a few votes for top 25, this week none but Wesley receives votes? Along with Cortland? BS

Look, this is the East this year. Everybody is like, two plays away from their season being drastically different.

Wesley, IC, Salisbury, Montclair, Cortland, Union...they've all had narrow losses where flipping the outcome of one play means *they're* in control of a Pool A bid, or the best Pool C team in the East. Likewise, both RPI and Frostburg are a play or two away from being in drastically different spots, instead of getting ready for the NCAAs.

Don't forget CNU -- 6-2 with the 2 losses to SU and Montclair in OT!  ;D ;D ;D

probably finish 6-3

wesleydad

Redhawks, you are confusing the D3 top 25 voting with the regional rankings.  They have nothing to do with each other.  Wesley was getting votes after their third loss and were still ahead of Montclair despite Montclair beating them.  If I recall correctly Salisbury just entered the top 25 on Oct 20 even though they were undefeated.  Moved up to 18 and then out after losing to Wesley.  Wesley has gone from a top 10 team to out.  Montclair has gone from on no ones radar to at least being noticed getting some votes last week.  Not sure why they did not get any this week.  The Regional committee is placing teams based on how they want to present them to the national committee.  Salisbury, despite being undefeated, did not look very strong.  I am not sure if the committee looks ahead, but if they do they saw that Salisbury played the 2 toughest teams on their schedule the last 2 weeks and may have done a little projecting.  The east region 5, 6, 7, and 10 all lost. So there are 4 spots to fill.  In my opinion if you want to see someone with a gripe it would be MIT with a H2H win over Merchant Marine yet Merchant is ranked.  I would not be stunned if both Montclair or Wesley show up in the rankings this week.  Endicott will replace WNE and Framingham will replace W Conn.  Does Salisbury even stay in?  How about Cortland?  I expect it to go Brock, Frost, RPI, Del Val, then do Merchant and Ithaca move up to 5 and 6.  Fram gets 7 since W Conn was ahead of WNE meaning that Endicott gets 8.  Who gets the last 2?  2 loss Cortland with what looks like a bad loss to Alfred but a nice win over Fram, Montclair with losses to Frost and Salis, but a win over Wesley.  There are so many someone who beat someone who beat someone in the east that it is hard to decipher who is better.

Would be nice, but not going to happen. Too bad we are not FBS. 6 wins gets you in the Lays Potato Chip Bowl.  ;D

Probably. Could have been 7-3 had we played that school in MD that's about to go get schooled in D2.  ;D

CNU85 any reason why CNU has not signed up for ECAC Bowls since you are in the CAC and NJAC, which most teams are?

Congrats to Devinne Greene for making D3 Football Team of the Week. Devinne played one helluva game and put the offense in position to win the game on multiple occasions (sigh  :'(). I know Devinne and the unit will say they have to do better to finish games defensively. Again congrats Devinne, well deserved.

ECAC membership is separate from conference membership and the schools have to pay a separate sponsorship to have it. Some schools have decided it's not in their financial interest to do that.

Several NJAC members aren't in the ECAC including CNU, Rowan and Montclair State.

http://www.ecacsports.com/sports/2016/5/5/D3_Members.aspx?path=gen

I assume that's the current list of members, despite the 2016 reference in the URL. That's the list on the ECAC website.
