Regarding the Rowan game this Saturday... No Injuries!
Enjoy the West Coast visitor.
Thanks for the visit D O.C.  What's your prediction for Saturday?

If the Widener result is any indication of how Rowan is this year, this game could get ugly quick.  Linfield is always ready to play and the trip across the country will not be an issue.  Giving up 30+ to Widener is not a good sign for the Rowan defense.  I figure Linfield will be just as good if not better than Widener on offense.  It is a great game for Rowan to have, they have a killer first 5/6 weeks of a schedule.  Kudos to them for playing anyone who will play them.  Wish more teams were able to do that.  But as Wesley has found out many years, it takes 2 to tango.  Good luck, if Wesley wasnt playing Del Val I would be attending this game.

Wish Wesley had a chance to schedule them or NCC. Two great NJAC OOC contests... as I understand it, Wesley is now very limited financially with who they can schedule nowadays.

Phan.... first games across country are not predictable.

I'll just go with the 63 consecutive winning seasons with nothing to back that up.

Ice Bear says this is a great write up...Ice Bear says Linfield will have it's 2nd and 3rd teamers playing by the second half.

Ice Bear hopes he's wrong...but he doesn't think he is. Ice Bear who has great respect for Linfield says Go Profs!

Ice Bear looking forward to the Gulls matchup with Oshkosh this weekend. Hope the Gulls get the W.
NJAC needs a good showing this week after going 2-6 last week. It's gonna be tough. Salisbury-Oshkosh is pretty intriguing. Rooting for Salisbury also.

Wesley-Del Val will be a good matchup, but I like the Wolverines here. They showcased some depth (at minimum) in the game against FP. If they get some decent QB play from Marrocco or Mullin, itll be tough for the Aggies to keep up... as long as the Wesley defense is as good as advertised. Last year, Wesley beat them 34-10, holding them scoreless in the second half.

**********Below posted on June 12, 2019....................and my mind has not changed in the three months since:**********

DelVal will be in a massive rebuilding year this coming season so I don't see them as one of the better teams in the East.

The DelVal vs. Wesley game should be interesting. DelVal loses their four year starter at QB (Darden), their top three receivers (with all at least 6'4".......Ellis, Graham and Stewart), stud kick returner and punt returner Stewart (4 TD's last year), three of their five mulit-year starter offensive linemen and their all conference fullback/hback. I think they struggle mightily to move the ball against a loaded Wesley defense. And when they do, DelVal also loses their four year punter, All-American Steven Adams (currently in an NFL rookie camp, and getting CFL looks) who was an amazing weapon at the D3 level. Wesley knows first hand what it is like to be subpar at kicker and/or punter.

DelVal brings a lot back on defense, but Wesley does on offense, including a lightning quick back (Lee), big, fast WR's and a huge offensive line. After DelVal winning the first two and Wesley winning last year, I'll set the line at at Wesley -9.5. DelVal covers, but Wesley wins to tie the recent series (last four seasons) up at 2-2. No team, with the exception of Mount Union, Mary Hardin Baylor, Wisconsin Whitewater and maybe one or two I'm missing, beats Wesley 3 out of 4 games (this season's seniors were freshman during game one of the series).........certainly NOT DelVal.

I don't have a MAC prediction yet, but I don't see DelVal running the table, nor winning the MAC for a third straight year.

I think that Wesley, Salsbury and Rowan catch a huge break with the departure of Frostburg.

A little birdie also tells me that this season's game might be the end, for now, of the Wesley vs. DelVal series. I have no clue who Wesley replaces them with.

Widener 38, Rowan 28

The Profs suffered a season opening loss to cross-river rival, Widener. The atmosphere was great - over 5000 in attendance.

Kudos to the Pride, they were one step ahead of Rowan all game.

The Profs showed up with their same-old conservative "RPO" offense and were flat in the first quarter. Widener's QB found the gaps in the Prof defense and it was the difference in the game (their WR1 had around 13 receptions!).

The Husni era began for the Profs, and he played well.  He made a couple of great passes, but also lost a fumble which Widener picked up for a TD.  One guy to keep an eye on is Mike Reed who was added to the roster late. He joined from the JUCO ranks and has incredible speed.

One thing that peaves me about D3 football is the spotty officiating - the human element is a great part of this level of the game.  I feel like they miss obvious calls or are inconsistent in some cases  ???

Widener scored TD's the first two times they had the ball. Rowan was in a zone D, and the Widener spread offense was easily finding the soft spots. Rowan switched to man and tightened up. Profs got within 24-21 in the 3rd qtr, then fell apart. The Pride was very efficient with back-shoulder throws... Gillespie the #1 WR was killing the Profs... many times the ball was thrown before his break. Husni shows promise.

Rowan is notorious for starting slow, and I am not feeling good about playing Linfield tomorrow. If Linfield is accurately rated at #12, the Profs could get their doors blown off. I think the Profs lack experience on defense. They got very little pressure on Widener, and the secondary is suspect.

I will be watching tomorrow while packing to move. Hopefully, it's a competitive game... an upset would be surprising.

I really wish Rowan TV would leave the announcing to Rowan Radio. Rowan TV went back to having their own announcer (just one) this year... no color commentary... it was bad. I wound up muting the Rowan TV and listening to Rowan Radio... everything was out of synch.

The best line all game  was " the ball is on the 54 yard line.  "  :-*.

When I was in school, a really serious effort was put into making the sports dept at Rowan radio more professional, and much like an internship. You had to pay your dues... gathering info/stats, reading news on air during DJ breaks, doing halftime studio analysis... before you got to announce or do color for a game. I was lucky to do color for three games. I actually did more baseball announcing than football.

As a started my business career, my presentation skills were far ahead of my peers' thanks to DJing and sportscasting in college. I just found my old radio show tapes... gonna have to convert them to mp3 after the move. 8-)

I did one color broadcast for CNU. It was 2007 against Rowan.

And I am 1-0 in the radio booth. That was the year we finally defeated the Beast of The East!!

I thought she did a decent job.  I've definitely heard worse D3 broadcasts over the years.  Carrying a 3-hour play by play- by yourself- is HARD. She'll get better with more experience.

We should team up. She could be color for Del Val and I'll do it for Rowan.
