Rowan 7 vs Salisbury 38

Q1
Not looking good for the Profs so far. Offensively they are calling low-risk plays. Salisbury is running at will.  The only bright moment for Profs was a LONG run by Husni.
- Rowan forced to punt on all possessions
- Salisbury in full control, Seagulls rushing attack is rushing at will
End Q1 0-14 seagulls

Q2
Salisbury continues to run at will, they are slicing through Rowan's defense like a hot knife through butter
- Husni's long run into the red zone resulted in 0 points as Rowan's freshman kicker's FG attempt was blocked
- Salisbury increased their lead to 21-0 (this game is likely over with almost 3 full quarters to go).  :-[
- If you're a Seagull fan, the only issue for them are penalties, otherwise they are near perfect today
- Rowan has a nifty pass TD to cut into the big Seagull lead

Q3
- Rowan defense was able to come out and force a rare Seagull punt
- Salisbury grows their lead after a FG ... Rowan has slowed down the Seagulls, but this may be a lead too big to bridge

Q4
- Seagulls further extend their lead with a quick pass in the Red Zone
- Salisbury defense has stifled the Profs all quarter, alot of pressure on Husni
- Seagulls scores another TD with the backups

Salisbury takes care of business today as they continue their quest to win the 2019 NJAC crown

// Final
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

Pretty status quo for today for Wesley. Lackluster 3rd Quarter. Still not sold on Mullin... a few wobblers and his accuracy downfield is not up to par with what we have come to expect of Wesley QBs. Meh.

I think Salisbury has all but wrapped up the NJAC after their win today, barring some unforeseen event... in terms of Wesley's playoff hopes, I think if Salisbury goes 10-0 it helps Wesley's playoff resume if they get by Montclair next week. Endicott and Del Val both win.

Wesley's defense is continuing to struggle with containment big time.  WP put up 177 yards of rushing and again, they were successfully running sweeps with nobody there to meet them.  It looks like they were taking hints straight from the Salisbury game film.  Wesley has to solve this for the Montclair game or it will continue to bite them in the arse with dire results.

Unfortunately, I will miss the game as I will be out of town on business. Pffft!

Montclair Fans.

I was curious where Abellany Mendez would land. He was a talented RB and baseball player in HS at Rutherford. Now he's listed at Defensive Line for Montclair State. Any updates on how he's adjusting to college ball?
Congrats to Abellany Mendez (who I read is named after the former Mets outfielder Benny Agbayani) earns NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors after contributing to the Red Hawks 24-0 NJAC victory over Christopher Newport. In the first game played of his collegiate career, he averaged 15.8 yards per carry, finishing the contest with 95 rushing yards on just six attempts. He notched a career-long 45 yard rush on MSU's first possession of the fourth quarter which eventually led to the Red Hawks' final score of the day.

He's listed at 280 lbs.. is that a typo???

What a great homecoming game. As aforementioned,  Salisbury offense couldn't really be stopped,  converted almost every 3rd down. Other than the self inflicted fumbles and penalties,  Salisbury would have most likely scored on every possession. The timely passing plays accompanied by the rushing attack, the offense is doing really well and still have room to grow.  I was expecting a much better game from Rowan,  but outside of the option pass and big scramble, they really didn't do anything that worried me.  I was impressed with Salisbury defense outside of those two mishaps. There was some changes in the secondary as expected and they performed admirably and if that group can play just a tad better than the previous group, Salisbury will be a tough outing for the stronger passing teams around the region and nationally as the defensive coordinator can do more with the playbook. Overall, as mentioned by Bernardo in inside the huddle, Salisbury still have yet to play a complete game. Looking forward to much improvement on the basic plays both offensively and defensively and more wrinkles as the season goes on.

Congrats to him! Maybe I am a bit spoiled when it comes to Wesley QBs, but Mullin just doesn't strike me as a guy who can take a game over like Warrick, McSweeny or Callahan could. Those guys could beat anyone on any given Saturday. For me, right now at this point, Mullin is a very serviceable and adequate D3 QB, much like Nick Falkenberg was a few years ago. Should Wesley reach the playoffs, I don't think he has the ability to elevate the team to the next level. In the William Paterson game, he made use of his skill guys and they went to work for him with screens and such (which is good), but some of his throws downfield were ones you can't really miss if you want to be in that top-tier QB discussion that we have come to expect for Wesley QBs. He also missed a few against Salisbury that a good QB makes (missing that wheel route to Pendleton was big). I will say though that he has done a great job of taking care of the football this season. Only 1 INT.

Like I said, maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't see it.... whispers from Dover say the next "guy" is the freshman.

No kidding. Wesley executed well on offense. Scored on all five of their first possessions. The defensive numbers are skewed a bit because of an 88-yard TD run. It was the Pioneers only first down of the half other than a running into the punter.

I think the Pioneers are on the rise They played hard for 60 minutes and have some good young players to develop.

RowanPhan

I'm excited to see the Profs take on William Patterson.  Rowan has been playing heavy weights almost every week this season, now they get a chance to flex their muscles against an up-and-coming program. Sounds like WPU is on the rise which make the NJAC a tougher conference in the years to come.

For Prof fans, Coach Accorsi mentioned on his coaches's show last night that 2 freshman to keep an eye on heading into the 2nd half of the season are Jajuan Hays (RB) and Eli Acosta (WR).

Both were accomplished HS players and are very talented.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

Great article by Sean Greene about Isiah Mitchell. Talks about his fight with adversity after losing his parents in a car accident and how he has persevered with the help of his grandmother, and his brother Anthony. Mitchell also speaks briefly about Coach Knapp in the article in a way that I had not considered when referencing Chip's son Ben and the passing of Mike Drass.

QuoteWhen I heard the story about Ben, it melted my heart a little bit. Just to see what [Chip's] been through, and also losing his best friend but still fighting, just like I did fighting along with my grandmother, it just showed I can trust him as a man, I can trust him with my future because he's shown he fights as well and gets the job done.

Big game tomorrow for Wesley.... some could argue it is the final significant test before they wrap up the season with Kean, TCNJ, and CNU.

Wesley could have won last years matchup if they had executed better on 4-5 different plays, including a fumble on the 1 yard-line. Hopefully Jon Mullin is settled in as the starter and Wesley can start turning the corner on both sides of the ball. This team has not played a complete game yet... and by far.

Montclair is somewhat of an enigma so far looking at their record. 3-3 with a 3 point loss to Salisbury, and they eeked by TCNJ two weeks ago 10-7.

Teamski

If Wesley plays their game as they should, this will be a win.  That said, enough mistakes will turn the table.  A must win regardless....
