Drew Fry at the half: 20-23 for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. Kid can play. Look out!
Wolverines blew them away. You think Rowan is better than Farmington St?
Hard to say due to the QB change and a few other factors, but I'd say yes. Framingham had trouble keeping up with Wesley's speed. That and they seemed to have a pass-first offense. I've always thought Rowan was run-first. Fry at QB kept Framingham off balance moreso than the other Wesley QBs we have seen because he was more effective throwing the ball. Opened up the run a lot more.

Yep, what a difference a QB can make!  Before being pulled early in the 3rd, Fry was 24-28, 345 yards passing and 5 TD's... .  He is a game changer for sure.  You could tell the receivers were getting separation purely from the fact that they know an accurate ball is coming their way.  That is a definite motivator!

Super stoked to see Fry play so well. That and he was very effective at spreading the ball around. Something we have not really seen this season. Liking our chances next week against Del Val.

Marcellus Pack also played great. Had the huge KO return TD to start the game and had some very strong runs throughout the game.

You should more than "like your chances" against DelVal next week. The Aggies have never found much of a rhythym offensively this year with 8 new starters and the 6'4" and 6'5' WR's are sorely missed. Wesley wins easily and then gets smoked up at Mount Union next week. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

We'll see. Smoked? Perhaps. Not so sure. My optimism is renewed though with the new QB. That potential matchup would be difficult but I think wesley would hang in. But maybe I'm wrong.

We're back... 36 years ago the Union Dutchman made their first appearance in the NCAA D3 tournament by winning a first round game and then spent the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Salisbury, Maryland battling with the Seagulls.(literally, I remember a flock of seagulls swarming the field) This year the Dutchmen will be back in Salisbury the same holiday weekend. Union and Salisbury also met for a home and home in 2009 and 2010. The Gulls won both of those matchups. 19-16 and 52-21 :P

The optimal word is new, against a seasoned Mt. Union defense. I'll be pulling for Wesley, but I think Mount pulls away in the 3rd.

Well it is official, Del Val travels to Wesley for the second round.  Del Val will be tough on the run and  in turn I expect them to run sweeps to outflank Wesley's defense.  Framingham State was doing the same with some success and that has been an Achilles heel.  I hope to see Wesley set up spies to stop the rusher at the tackles.  I think Del Val will be challenged to deal with Fry as a legit passing threat...... A tough game regardless and one that mistakes will cost the bearer.

Welp...Salisbury did what many teams from the upper echelon would have done to SUNY-Maritime. Although the game was out of hand early, kudos to the Maritime players and coaching for playing until the final whistle. Salisbury didn't do too much, kept everything within the system offensively. The Defense kept everything in front of them and dominated the whole game. It was good to see some of the 2nd and 3rd sting guys get in early and continue the success against Maritime, that was my biggest takeaway from Saturday's game. There were some things that I could nitpick, like one of the rb/returner carelessly dropping the ball a few times, that can't happen next week. There was one close call late in the 1st or early 2nd when one of the corners got lackadaisical and almost let one of those simple RPO plays go for a td. I didn't understand why as a CB you would play the run, it wasn't as if Maritime couldn't run the ball. I'm sure the D Coordinator gave him an earful and going to drive it into the players head come film and let the whole unit that type of carelessness can't happen this upcoming week. Overall, glad that a good number of the limited roster got playoff time. Looking forward to see a good Union team this upcoming week after their early 1st round scare.

Ah I think this was mentioned before the 2009 game as well. Nevertheless, those 2009 and 2010 games were not playoff games. I think that 2009 game feature many freshman/sophomores that went onto a 5-6 record losing in the ECAC and the 2010 team went onto the playoffs and loss to Del Val in round 1. I think both teams in the current year are much better than those 2009 and 2010 teams. This upcoming game between the two teams will be interesting as Salisbury schedule was front loaded with two playoff participants and Union's back-loaded with two teams that went on to play in Week 12.

Not a bad strategy. We deploy many options strategies at all times. We also short the living you know what out of TVIX on any pop. An instrument that gets destroyed (for the longs) by contango and decay. Look at it's history. After December 2nd's 1-10 reverse split (number 7 since inception).....................25,000,000 shares at the start is now 1 single share. If you don't know TVIX (and other volatility instruments) get to know them as soon as possible.

I for one can't wait for next weeks Salisbury/Union showdown.  On the one hand, after having the Union D's weakness (high-accuracy short passing game) expose, its nice to face a running team, and U has experience playing the option (Springfield).  On the other hand, Salisbury plays at a total different level.  I suspect Salisbury will get its yards and big plays, and it will be all about whether the U can force some TOs and TFLs.

I don't much at all about Salisbury's D.  What their deal?

I'm a little bummed that Wesley and Del Valley have a round 2 rematch.  Wish the NCAA had put DV in the East bracket instead of Muhlenberg - would have been an easy swap with geographic and bracket integrity.

Wesley was able to move the ball fairly well against Salisbury's defense (moreso in the air than on the ground). I think Salisbury's D is aided by the option offense. They eat clock like crazy when you can't get them off the field, which keeps their defense rested and the opposing offense off the field. In the Wesley-Salisbury game, Salisbury possessed the ball for 38 minutes and ran 23 more plays than Wesley, which I think was huge considering Wesley was averaging 8.9 yards per play. For Union, they will have to make the most of their offensive possessions and force Salisbury's offense to out-execute the defense.  Their defense will have to play disciplined assignment football all day (something Wesley failed to do). Salisbury's QB Lanham is better than what they have had in the past. He is a good runner and they will throw more often with him to keep the defense honest.
