@d3jason

Understood, I do not have all the data you do. I am sure Hopkins and Susquehanna will be tough too. Centennial maybe the toughest conference in region 2. I said based mostly on having an excellent senior quarterback. They are worth a lot.

Congrats to Salisbury. And I bet DelVal finishes stronger than this preseason poll.

https://www.d3football.com/top25/2021/preseason

Their D-line should be elite for sure. They haven't posted a 2021 roster, as yet, so it will be interesting to see who else is back. I would think that they will be very good again based on their ability to crank out teams recently. (Cue jmcoz telling me that they will stink because they lost too many...... ;D)

I kinda had the feeling that they had claimed to top dog in the east after burying the Wolverines in the 2019 playoffs. I thought that they slugged it out with North Central and had a chance before fumbling inside the 10, down 10 at the start of the fourth quarter.

I personally would have had them above Salisbury. It was surprising that Muhlenberg was not higher based on what they did to the Gulls, but who really knows in this current climate. Salisbury does have the advantage of paying a couple games this past spring.

Surely you jest Jason as I have NEVER said DelVal will "stink". That is almost an impossibility in any given year, BUT, since you don't have any inside scoop, sit back and enjoy ;)

The defensive line, while not deep, should be EXCELLENT!! They did lose 3 out of their 4 multi-year starters at LB. Their secondary should be solid. Any secondary will look good with that defensive line though.

Offensively, they lost 3 out of 5 mutli-year starting offensive linemen. They also lost their starting QB (Fontana), 2 of their top 3 RB's, their all-league FB, 2 of their top 3 WR's and their top 2 tight ends, including Dan Allen who was a match up nightmare for LB's and DB's (ask Wesley). Their kicker and punter also went bye bye.

While encouraged by some of the newcomers, not many will be make a significant enough impact. The roster is by FAR the smallest number it has been in many, many years and they did lose several potential starters to an on-time graduation and money woes.

The team that destroyed Wesley in the 2019 playoffs is long gone, BUT, this team can win the MAC. Stevenson is good and bringing back a ton. Widener and Lycoming were very, very young.......but who knows if they lost anybody due to the COVID mess.

To wrap up, my adopted (as a bucolic Doylestown resident) Aggies will FAR from stink. I believe the ranking is a bit overrated but who knows. Will they get to the 3rd round of the NCAA Playoffs yet again? If they get great QB play from somebody and can fill in the holes at OL, RB, FB, WR and especially TE..................they have a shot. This team will have to do it primarily on defense.

They do have a great coaching staff so maybe they can mold the team into a Top 16 or Top 8 team by the end of the year................which would be one hell of an accomplishment given the facilities and resources.

Yes, I do JEST. That's what the big cheeses smiley emoji was for ;) ;)

My point is if you are a big dog, you at like it. It is having that confidence that your program reloads and doesn't have to rebuild. Obviously, hard work and commitment from the players and coaches has to happen. Younger players are developed to replace players who move on. I am positive that their excellent coaching staff has done that. I am pretty sure that have young, athletic linebackers that they can teach to read keys and run to the football. Except for QB, skill players are not hard to find for most programs.

From what they've put out on Twitter, they seem to believe that they are an elite:

https://twitter.com/dvufootball/status/1227726693579853824?s=21

If they don't go to at least the quarterfinals, I'm disappointed.

thewaterboy

Did EJ Lee latch on anywhere or did he choose to hang em up? He's probably one of the only players left on Wesley's roster that I'd wonder about as to their new school.

This year will be interesting from the standpoint of losing the 2020 season to Covid. I'm sure there will be plenty of surprises... For me it'll never be the same without Wesley. I'll follow the players and coaches that have moved on to new places, but that's about it.

Teamski

Yeah, it is tough for sure.  I am filming for Coach Knapp at Dover High School this year and will probably hit the DSU games to watch Coach Az's offense in action.  It's definitely not the same though..... :(

Attitude and confidence are critical. I don't think any of their players would say that they are nervous about the losses of offense (even more than I knew after finding about 2 more offensive departures). I did say that their defense will be the key (and the "other" Nobile, a DE, is in a sling I hear................before Game #1).

I can't speak to the "National Quarterfinals or Bust" comment. Many thought that Wesley was going to waltz to that same place in 2019, having beaten DelVal, on the road earlier in the season.......until the game happened.

There is quite a bit of good health and good luck (unless you are the Mount Union's, UWW's, UMHB, etc.) in getting to the Final 8. Wknows, maybe they will do it yet again.

My money is on 'probably not'..................but I hope that I am wrong as a Doylestownian. :)

NJAC Coaches Poll is out - https://njacsports.com/news/2021/8/23/salisbury-voted-preseason-favorite-to-win-njac-football-title.aspx

I think the poll went as expected. I think one coach voted for his own team. Indicated that CNU is the dark horse team this year. I think if this is the year to see some weird things occur out of the norm, I think it'd be this year. NJAC are playing teams from a variety of conferences, if they were to go undefeated in those OOC games. I can see two teams making the playoffs. Nevertheless, one game at time, win the game in front of you, win your conference, then everything else afterward is free game.

The Profs should have a competitive and talented team in 2021.  Returning QB, experienced guys at every group (OL, RB, WR, TE, DL, LB, DB, and kickers).  They scrimmage against the West Point prep school guys on Thursday. I'll be curious to see how the depth chart shakes out as the season approaches.

I think Salisbury is the top dog in the NJAC until proven otherwise. Montclair should be really tough too.

Jason, reading is fundamental...................and you must have an issue with fundamentals. "All these shots at people" in my posts? Say what???? Saying that I rag on Doylestown??? Say what yet again???? I could have chosen anywhere to live and could now as well and I chose than and choose now, beautiful bucolic Doylestown. It is consistently as a top small town to live in. Great schools, churches, history, housing, parks and on and on and on. Surely I know you jest as a negative word about Doylestown has never come out of mouth. The place is damn near perfect and the proximity to so many places in insane. Oh, and we go up to New Hope frequently as several friends own restaurants (and the Bucks County Playhouse) there and we own in home in Lambertville, on the Delaware, that we rent out thru a few websites. Someone who lives in Doylestown refers to themselves as a Doylestownian. It is meant with love. Kind of like a person from Philadelphia being a Philadelphian. Not a shot. Nothing negative. One couldn't fabricate anything negative about Doylestown if they tried other than very high housing prices..........but I've benefited from that :)

And by the way, a certain DT transfer from Wesley has told his DelVal teammates that Wesley was sure that they were going to crush DelVal at home in that playoff game and that some of his teammates at the time didn't respect Aggies as they should have, like he and some of them did. He shall remain nameless ;)

Reading is fundamental ;)

All in good fun my man. Happy Football Season!!!!!!!

He was constantly mocked, but he knows how to assemble programs, and coaching staffs. KC was always nice to me, and so were his parents. His parents used to eat my gumbo at tailgates before the game.

and I may have partaken in some of that delicious gumbo as well! :)

If they don't go to at least the quarterfinals, I'm disappointed.

Many people thought and some people say.... ::)

Did Wesley expect to win that day, certainly. Did they respect Del Val as a good football team. Certainly. Did they get their ass handed to them. Yes.

Not sure I understand the motivation behind all these shots you take at people in some of your posts. (What's wrong with Doylestown? Always seemed like a nice place.  My wife and I had a great time in close by New Hope and Lambertville this summer for an anniversary get away. :) )
