Good game by the Seagulls last night. They beat a very determined Albright team. I was very impressed with the production from offense and as expected, they put up some good rushing numbers. Defensively, they came out shaky and had some disappointing penalties, which led to a couple scores from Albright. However, the bend don't break defense held throughout the game, only allowing 14 points. The Defense has to sure up on tackling, first player has to wrap, too many broken tackles after 1st contact. Overall, I would give them a "B" score. It was still the first game and I'm happy for the players and coaches that they get to do something they love and came away with the win in a semi-dominating fashion.

So what's the Good, Bad, and Ugly. The good thing is the rushing attack was clicking and they scored early and often. The bad, too many broken tackles and have to compete better on 1 on 1 WR/DB matchups. The Ugly, the penalties and unnecessary batter/chatter throughout game.

Watch a little bit of the Kean game against Delaware Valley. Kean played their hearts out defensively. However, has some work to do offensively at the QB position, especially decision making. Offensively, Kean couldn't put together drives, which eventually wore down their defense and allowed Delaware Valley to take off, especially from 2nd quarter on. Early in the game, it appeared that it could have been a game, but the line play was on a different level between the teams.

Looking forward to the first Rowan game in a long time.

Profs took the opening drive 60 yards or so for the TD. 7-0 Profs. I didn't realized how much I missed the South Jersey accent... color guy on Rowan TV has the Philly/So. Jersey accent. I don't why it makes my happy, but it does. Streaming in HD.  Nice.

Play is a little chippy right now. Offsetting 15 yard roughness penalties. Widener looks bigger on O/D lines.

Nice win for the Captains. I know it's only one game, but I think we may have found a QB for awhile. 29-39 266 yds and 2 TDs. His 2 picks were deflections by DL.  And when he got in trouble he used his legs for 43 yards in key situations. Pretty good for your first college game.  Our starting QB from 2019 volunteered to move to WR before the season started. His first 2 catches were for touchdowns.

Defensively, held W&L and their weird option attack to about half of what they averaged in 2019.

Also good news for game 1 after a long layoff....only 4 penalties.

It was great to be back at the stadium watching football.

A 96-yard drive for the go ahead score at the end. Nicely done Captains.

I was hoping to watch the entire game in the den, but the wife wasn't getting the hint at the advanced notice given starting on Wednesday. I did catch the rest of the game upstairs at the dinner table.

Bubble screens were as effective as running plays for Widener. Never big yardage, but kept the sticks moving. In the end, Widener QB was also more accurate too.

I'm seeing Rowan at 5-4 this year... unless more playmakers haven't made themselves known yet.

That was very exciting game to watch. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. W&L weird option attack in comparison to Salisbury and Springfield is like comparing a Camaro, Mustang, and Charger, they may look  and do the same thing, but it is the engine that's the difference. One would say Salisbury has the Lambo version of the Triple-Option. W&L may say they have a spread option, but it's just a fancy way of doing the Triple-Option. W&L literally had the nerve to do an orbital motion within their two minute drill and couldn't come up with an adequate passing route scheme, which told you everything about their offense.

You never know, looking at Rowan Schedule, they can be 7-2, Montclair State struggled offensively against RPI, only scoring 3 defensive tds and losing late with little time to spare. However, they will now have to win out to make the playoffs or if the NJAC becomes interesting or ODACish, just have a H2H win with the conference leader. We had some cancellations 1st wk, maybe have some 2nd wk, let's see if we can get another game for the Profs.

Hey Bman,

Things are going well. Austin started kindergarten, and is a yellow belt in karate. I gotta shed those COVID lbs I packed on. Hope all is well with your family.

Looking at some former Wesley guys, it seems some made an impact at their new locations. I also found EJ Lee on Frostburg State's roster, although he did not play last weekend.

For Del State:
-Brandon Bradford got the start at RG.
-Jerrish Halsey had 2 catches for 35 yards. Curry 1 for 8. Del State's pass game seems poor statistically.
-Jemuel Cypress and Leroy Pendleton registered a tackle each.

For William Paterson:
-Taz Burton had 5 catches for 93 yards.
-Keshaun Henry had 8 tackles. Seems he has switched sides of the ball.
-Daquan Knight had 1 tackle

Elsewhere:
-Mike Brewer led Shippensburg with 8 tackles.
-Mike Credle had 3 catches for 30 yards against Lincoln.

MRMIKESMITH

NJAC went 2-5 this past weekend. Some shocking losses and not so shocking losses. This upcoming weekend, doesn't get any easier. CNU @ Averett, Salisbury v. UW-W, Kean v. Utica, Montclair @ Del Val, Rowan v. Springfield, TCNJ v. Cortland, William P v. FDU. We could easily see a similar record outcome. Hopefully the conference can get some good wins this week and finish above .500
