Try not to lick your wounds so loudly!  Being happy about a win is one thing but being ecstatic about a loss is something else.  You can blast 4merProf all you want but he was right.  It should have been 56-7.....this RU team has the ability to hang scores like that on people.  But just like curiosity killed the cat...........overconfidence and a few of the other things I mention below, could smack the Owl.

The average way the Profs played last night could be attributed to a lot of things.  Poor play calling, lack of confidence in your offense, poor execution, predictability of the running game, not rolling the pocket when your QB is getting hit and, I think most of all, overconfidence.  Let's face it, as much as Phil will cry about it, this is not a very good TCNJ team and they hung in there with RU.....even though the zebras allow them to run for touchdowns after they've been tackled (unbelievable).  We'll have to talk about DIII refs at some later date.....they should just pick 4 guys from the stands before each game and give them striped shirts (they couldn't do any worse).

4th and 2 on the 35...........do you kick ??? ..... or do you show your Offense that you have confidence in them.... you have an elusive All-American QB, some of the best receivers in DIII and 2 RRs that have been running all over the place all night.
NOOOOOOOOOOOO .....you kick it into the endzone get a touchback, bring it out to the 20 for a net gain of 15 yards while giving TCNJ the ball.  They did the same thing 3 times with short yardage situations in the Red Zone at CNU and went for FGs (all 3 of which they missed).

Wake up Profs (and that means everybody associated with the program) .......there are a bunch of teams out there hiding in the weeds waiting to smack you if you perform like last night.

I don't care what score it should have been. When you've been insinuating that this is the best Rowan team of the decade since July you can't let a TCNJ team with 6 seniors, average skill players and a young offensive line  be within 23-20 in the fourth quarter on your home field. I don't much care how many paragraphs of excuses you make. Remember, the punt, pass and kick contest was supposed to be more interesting?

I seem to remember stating myself that this wasn't a very good TCNJ team. The games against Muhlenburg and Cortland were a damn good indication.

I hope the team that played last night doesn't show up at Cortland ... or worse ... against MUC or Linfield!

Anyone have the Kean - WPU result?

JT

Accorsi intimated that the team was a little off... from coaches to the players, perhaps due to the Robert Morris comeback.  He mentioned that they'll have to regroup and push forward.

Again nothing surprises me when these teams play.  The inability to "put TCNJ away" early in the 3rd quarter was a major factor.  TCNJ left the field in the first half down both on the scoreboard and mentally.  As the second half continued the Lions confidence kept rising.  I had a first hand view of it.  Thankfully Rowan regained the "mo" at towards the end.

Kean 24 - William Patterson 6.  The Cougars were finally effective running the football (183 Rushing) and the Cougar Defense was relentless (4 Forced Fumbles, 2 INTs, and 7 Sacks.)  Big Game for Kean next week vs MSU.

First of all, I'm not the one who "insinuated" that this was the best RU team of the decade. So before you spout off, check your facts.

You know, you have this chip on your shoulder because your Lions aren't what you want them to be.  That sir, seems to be your problem not mine.

I didn't make excuses, I gave my impressions.  If it makes you feel better to call them excuses, be my guest....its a free country (freedom of speech and all that).

Just so you can sleep tonight, don't get your knickers in a knot that the RU team that showed up last night with their "D" game against TCNJ's "A" game will show up at Cortland and do the same thing.  If the coaching staff allows that, with all of the talent they have, shame on them.

Thanks for being so concerned however.  Your caring is a comfort to me. :-*

Cortland - Montclair game story and pictures are up at my website:

http://cortlandfootball.com

Good to see Dave at the game, supporting his Red Hawks as always.

Cortland had a few untimely fumbles but overall it was a great effort against a quality opponent.  The offense had nearly 500 yards against Montclair, and the defense shut out the Red Hawks in the second half holding them to 14 total yards.

I've seen Kean and TCNJ this season, and Montclair is still better than both of them.  Montclair has better team speed and a hard hitting defense.  Offensively Ferriol is solid and athletic at quarterback (he left injured in the 4th qtr, hopefully he's ok).  They have major issues with the running game however.  I think once they get some consistency they'll be in the role of spoiler by season's end, and I can see them being a top dog again next season.

Dan,  sorry I missed my one liner - lol.  Unfortunately I was out of the country on business.  And I missed the Wesley game.
I was at the game today and it was impressive.  All 3 phases of the game were clicking.  I know it was WPU; but the 2 losses we have right now are against 2 good ball clubs.  And in both games the game was lost in the second half.  Baby steps....  Well today the team looked different.  Every side of the ball was flying around the field and looking to make some noise.  And the offense --yes to the poster -- ran the ball very well vs WPU.
It will certainly be a test on the road against MSU up there.
But again the defense had 5 or 6 turnovers and physically hitting -- or out hitting WPU.
It was finally a joy to watch the game.  Now we have to do it against MSU.  I hope our guys have a great week.  And I hope the coaches stay on top of the team.  What ever they did last week - --- do it again, they looked good out there.
Dan-
how are the 2 RB's that got hurt vs. KU two weeks ago?

dpadavona

Hey YC -

Our top tailback Matt Rickert is still side-lined.  He's walking fine so I hopefully we'll see him by the Rowan game.  The other kid who got hurt was Dustin Bowser, but he was the starter the following week.

The injuries are allowing us to get a look at some pretty good freshman backs.  Andrew Giuliano has been impressive since finishing the game vs. Kean, and Brendan Hill moved up from the JV squad and had his first carry today.  He's highly regarded, so we shall see.  Our offensive line is darn good, so it's a good opportunity for the new backs to get rolling.

Should be a good matchup - Kean vs Montclair.  Sounds like you guys played your best game of the season today.

You know, you're right. You weren't predicitng greatness, just using yellow bus analogies. I took a look back over several pages and found this gem from 4merprof as you and he were turning verbal cartwheels over the Robert Morris game:

"The Profs look forward to the rest of the season turning skeptics like (D3.com) into believers.
Finally the '05 Profs are for real.. They will prove this year that they are no longer the Buffalo Bills of D3."

And frankly, I'm so far from having a chip on my shoulder over a DIII football team it would make your head spin. So don't assume. If you haven't noticed by now I enjoy poking fun at TCNJ's biggest rival until I root for – and stand up for them on the board in the playoffs. I believe it was 4merprof who needs to gain some perspective after expressing his outright hatred for TCNJ earlier.

BTW, how come nobody mentioned that TCNJ played the last three quarters without their best running back who was injured in the first quarter? If you haven't noticed, I think a young Lion team did a terrific job last night.

A person can't even take a little eight day camping trip in the Maine wilderness where the only other living creatures are Moose and Bear without missing out on so much fun.  It took me an hour to catch up on the posts.  Phil, you should have used a picture of the "Little" bus instead.

With the exception of the yellow bus analogy, you haven't quoted 1 thing that I posted.  If you have an issue with 4merProf, go after him.  I'm sure he would love to debate you.

Also, he is entitled to his opinion, right or wrong, about TCNJ.  Like I said before, its a free country.

Regarding the injured player, I didn't know he was injured and frankly, didn't miss him.  However, I hope his injury was nothing serious.  I don't like to see anybody get hurt!

You explain this to me.......how come the refs allow a TCNJ touchdown after the kid was down and rolling on the ground?  If that were a Rowan TD, I would love to hear how you would be screaming foul!

You seem to have a problem with anything posted referring to RU.  Please lay out your guidelines as to what is acceptable and I'll do my best not to offend you in the future....NOT!

When and if RU loses a game or if they make the playoffs and should get eliminated, I hope I handle it a little more graciously than you are handling TCNJ's ineptness!
