"We bust ours so we can beat yours..."

Great season by the Profs. I was at the game yesterday. The Rowan defense was sensational, just ask Coach Kehres. He was extremely complimentary to the Profs defense yesterday following the game.

The two biggest plays of the game were the ridiculous roughing the kicker call and the kick return by Kmic at 14-7 but those are the breaks.

Certainly, Rowan accounted themselves well and a lot better than people thought. Can't wait for '06!

I'm still beat from the 7 + hr. ride  back, so I may have more to write later.   Let me simply state that I have never felt so proud of an RU team...albeit in defeat...than I am now.  Unless you were there, you can't imagine the pressure the defense was under all game, particularly early on.  And while the RU offense didn't play well, in all candor, I think the MU defense had the most to do with that.  I've seen every RU/MU game, and the MU defensive unit yesterday might have been their best.

Losing is lousy...but I am buzzed with pride over what I would characterize as a tremendous effort.  Both teams..players and coaches...deserve a ton of credit.

Thanks, RU, for a great season, under some pretty tough conditions.

Hope no one else got hurt.

See you next year,

I know it's hard to even think about the game right now, but that was a great contest. Nothing but positive things to say about this years Profs. Hope it's not 6 years before we meet again.
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Congrats to Rowan coaches and team on a great season you represented the East extremely well given you were missing a lot of bullets in your gun!!! Be proud of your team and lets hope for a great year next year and meet the aggies again in the playoffs!

Great game from the Rowan Profs...Obviously the "O" suffered from lost personnel, but the D was outstanding...
THe sad thing for us Mounties is that it looks like everyone is back..Tosh is a stud, Heimrl (sp) was super all day, pass rush nearly shut down passing attack and your DB's were, as a unit, the best coverage we have seen...
I tip my cap to you for overcoming the great losses and getting to the national semi. Your head coach was a total class act in the post conference, and it looks like the best is ahead for Rowan football.
Finally, I noted that after the game Coach Kehres made a special effort  to congratulate your defensive players individually...I don't know if I have seen him do that before...great respect...

The MU defense wasn't too shabby either.  ;)

And Coach K is a class act as well.  In this day and age, that's a refreshing change...regrettably.

And, unfortunately, there are some D3 coaches and programs that seem hellbent on emulating what goes on in the lowest division. :'(

Drove back from Alliance on Sunday and got in abou 4:30PM.

I've followed the Profs since my undergrad days in the late 80's.  I've never been prouder of a Rowan team.  The team kept plugging away after key injuries.  The Profs rarely had good field position and still kept Mount Union at bay most of the day.  Mount was clearly the best defense Rowan faced all year.

This season was one of best exhibitions of teamwork I've seen.  And the Profs were class acts to the end.  Most Mount fans were great and I had brunch with a bunch of them.  There were a couple of mutts taunting the Rowan bench.  One of them looked like a college version of "Thurman Murman" the kid from Bad Santa.  Fat, curly blond hair, with purple Mount Union soccer shirt.

He was taunting Garren, Trout and few of the other defensive guys from the fense.  Thurman had to be told to move by the Alliance police.

After the press conference the Rowan players were getting on the bus and "Thurman" thought it would be funny to stand by the bus entrance on taunt the players some more.  Kudos to the Profs players for getting on the bus and not slapping ol' Thurm around.

Amen brother.

JT:

As always, it was great to see you out there.  I agree with your comments 100% about the RU effort...I kept waiting for the D to get worn down...but they didn't.  Truly a gutsy effort.

And while I, too, enjoyed most of the MU fans, regrettably there was a group of MU students sitting near our section who were obviously drunk and who felt it more fitting to taunt and heckle the RU fans rather than watch the game.  This was constant, seemingly lasting the entire game.  Most of the group I was with were parents and non-students.  It was annoying, to say the least.  I suppose that was their intent, but I just don't get it.  I thought Mrs. Z was going to go upside one guy's head....but her fatal vision stare did the trick.  Don't wanna mess with a Jersey girl.   ;D

JT

The Profs players were better than me.  If it was my last game, like Todd Trout for example, I'd have hit "Thurman" by the bus.  He was close enough to be threat and there wasn't any security nearby.  Self defense.

warren just out of curiosity what programs and coaches are you a little disgusted with at this point?

Will I name them here in public? Of course not.  BTW "disgusted" is your word, not mine. I'd prefer to say I am "concerned about" the integrity of certain D3 programs.

JT,Zman, and others: Sorry about your encounter with the small group of buttheads we know as section 13. While they are always there, it is often not as noticeable because since the NCAA requires that we provide x number of seats inside the thirties it eliminates a natural buffer that exists during the regular season. Since I work at the high school level, I know that folks like this are an unfortunate part of today's society. I see that sorry behavior from the preps all the way to the pros. I will not defend them, but I'm sure glad I sit on the other side of the field. Sincere apologies from the majority of us at Mount.
