I could be completely wrong (gee..that would be a surprise), but I really don't think it was the usual "beep beep" crowd heckling the Rowan sidelines.  It was two guys.  And, I know that we were very upset about the knee our D-back got in the head when he tumbled into the Rowan bench.

There are always goofy fans, as there are always a few bush league players.  Such is the sporting life.  Especially football.

No need to apologize...I don't think these drunken knuckleheads represented the MU crowd at all.  In fact, my wife commented as recently as last night to someone who asked about the game that these morons would last 2 minutes over in the MU home side because the fans there wouldn't stand for that kind of stuff.  It just seems to be the sign of the times, and we see it more and more.  Alcohol has a bit to do with it.  ;)

Rowan has a few of these guys too.  Everyone else at Mount was very cool, especially at the brunch.  Great conversations about football and other things.

warren you cant leave us hanging like that...pls do tell

Warren NEVER kisses and tells....too much of a gentleman to do otherwise. ;D

RU,

Congrats on a great, hard-fought season. You did the university proud, the alums proud, but more importantly, you did yourselves proud. It was an exciting year and I am already looking forward to next year.
LONG LIVE THE BORO!

If you do ANYTHING, give it your EVERYTHING!

Hmm....if the headline on the front page of the DIII site is true, then it's time to wonder:

I wonder how much moral outrage there would be if a DI transfer from Rowan was winning the G-award?

Of course, considering the fact that when Linfield won the championship last year (which they earned and deserved) with a good number of DI'ers and the story line read like a fairy tale then I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of tsk tsking over the G-award going to a...ah...gulp....heaven forbid....a DI TRANSFER.

The irony is, RU seems to have less transfers than most teams now.  Regardless, I hope this puts to rest the issue of transfers, once and for all.

Let's get on to more relevant topics....like LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS.   ;)

good point zman, i am not sure how i feel about it, but he had a outstanding season. Its kinda weird seeing a div I qb win something when he should be and is dominating on the div III. orhiel and elliott should dominate at this level (not a knock on them)since they were div I qbs but you still have to do it on the field and their numbers are impressive. But at the same time I feel for some other players who were true div III players who might have won it if players of this caliber were playing on their original levels of competition. But rules is rules and so goes life...congrats to elliott.

The thing that needs to pointed out about Elliot is that YES he is a DI transfer but he was playing with a D3 line, D3 recievers, etc.  Sure, he had the advantage of playing in and against D1 teams but he was able to be very successfull in D3 because of the players surrounding him.  Any award like this is really a team award because you can't play the game by yourself.  No way Reggie Bush wins the heisman if he played at, say, Washington this year instead of USC.  Or if Reggie played in D3 but at a school like PLU that was having a bad year.  Anyway, you probably get my point.  Should a DI transfer be allowed to win these awards, I think yes (though I am a Linfield fan so my opinion is biased) but let's look at it another way.  Whose to say that a "D3 Player" who wins the award might not have been successfull in DI had they been given the chance to play there?  Afterall, there are some D3 players who have wont he Gag Award and gone on to the NFL (I'm pretty sure on this one) while there are plenty of DI players who are done after college.  Just saying that attending a D3 school is a choice and for athletes the choice is often made because they want to continue playing sports which is what Brett Elliot did, just after 2 years in DI.
Go Cats!

Just so there is no misunderstanding, I have absolutely no issue with this player winning the G-award.  He's a fablulous talent and probably deserves it. More power to him.  I suppose I was merely venting, based on a long history of hearing gripes about DI transfers.  I understand the nature of the gripes and in some ways don't disagree with the issues raised.  I just find it ironic that the same level of scrutiny and criticism isn't applied across the board.  I have some theories as to why that is, but this is NOT a site for political/sociological rantings.

There is no rule about DI transfers being ineligible to win the G-award nor should there be such a prohibition.

PBR...

i agree as well, as i was just pondering out loud. You still have to do it on the field and with a strong supporting cast so kudos and props to elliott...

phil

...but to win this particular award you have to achieve off the field as well as on. Which is why I'm particularly interested in his exploits in the classroom and the community.

Monrovia: Good question. I checked the records (no -  contrary to popular belief,  I don't carry these things in my head), Carey Bender, RB from Coe, who won the Gagliardi in 1994, played in one game for Buffalo in 1996. Couldn't find any other Gagliardi winner who played in any regular season or post-season NFL game. Anybody - correct me?

MCat,

If Reggie Bush was played for PLU, the Lutes wouldn't be having a bad year.  ;)

Hey guys off the track a bit but I was wondering if whoever attended the Union and Mt. Union games against rowan could compare Union to Mt. Union on both sides of the ball. (Athletes, size, ability, off., def.) Thanks
