With Cortland losing less than 5 seniors, they better have a legitimate shot at beating Rown this coming season.  Who knows,.....that's why we play on saturday.
I still have bad dreams of the flubbed pass to wide open Shane G in the final seconds to win the game in '98 down in Glassboro. Final score was 41-34.

Presuming Rowan gets a healthy Orihiel back and decent production from the receivers who replace Silva and Wright, I think the Profs will be solid favorites in the conference.  I'd be surprised if they don't get all but one first place vote in the conference preseason poll, presuming Accorsi follows the unspoken tradition of not voting for his team.

The Profs defense showed me a ton last year when they fought Mount Union tooth and nail in Alliance with a wounded offense on their side.  My humble opinion is that Rowan is in the Top 5 nationally while Cortland is in the 15-25 range.

Then again I had UConn, Villanova, Memphis and Duke in the Final Four so what do I know. :)

I heard the Styes brothers decided to enlist in the armed forces and will most likely go to Iraq.  If this is true, my hat goes off to those boys.  You make Rowan proud.

With the weather warming up, when do NJAC teams start their spring conditioning, if they have not already started?  Also, if they have started, what teams look good in their spring practices?  How are teams recruiting situations looking if there has been any confirmations about recruits or just speculation?  Any info would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Scott

Is it true that the Rowan team voted Albies kid back on the team?

I heard that Scott had another year of eligibility, and was last seen hitting the weight room and running wind sprints.  I wonder what he has his 40 time down to? ;D

Recruiting update:

QB Bryan Pfirman of Millville will play at Rowan this Fall.  He was honorable mention all-conference in high school.  I hope he's an athlete making a position change -- he doesn't seem to have the same pedigree as Rowan's other quarterbacks for the last decade.

Anyone else has some extra information on this guy?  Maybe he's a talent and his team was just awful.

Your post sounded more like it came from a Florida State booster than a DIII fan.

Nice to see that Montclair has posted their 2006 schedule, and there are 10 games. :) Two top 25 teams and one top 40 team. Cortand and Rowan back to back is tough. Springfield should be improved along with the balance of the NJAC. From what little I know, we need a QB and need to fill in the Defense due to graduation and play consistant for 60 minutes. 7-3 would be a great year. Await the comments.

I was told last year we would get new turf. I don't see it happening, but that sounds like the usual Montclair Administrative BS !!!

In any event :

Let's  Go  Mighty  Red  Hawks  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything new about the Prof Spring training?  I was looking at their schedule and it is terrible that the Prof's only have nine games again this year.  They play CNU for their opener, then have two weeks off...  So three weeks until their next game out at Robert Morris.  I feel that this lull could definitely hurt the team early in the season.  I can understand a bye week, but two of them in a row???

Maybe it's just me, but I was looking at the teams with open schedules for the two open weeks, and it seems that there are teams available, whether or not they are willing to play Rowan, is another issue.  To be the best in the east, you have to beat the beast!

Nothing new ... Rowan, TCNJ and Montclair have struggled with scheduling for years. The additions of Cortland, Buffalo St. and West Conn. were supposed to take care of this to a certain extent.

In Rowan's case, the only DIII teams with open dates those consecutive weeks are UW-La Crosse, Gallaudet, Chapman, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point and Menlo. I seriously doubt anybody wants to see a matchup with Gallaudet. Nor do I imagine anybody is going to be doing any traveling to Wisconsin or California – let's just call that the John Corzine budget effect.

Unless you get one of those teams to come to the 'boro, it looks like the Profs will have to look into 1AA or DII schools to fill out the schedule. This time you can't even get after Widener or Lycoming for having open dates and not picking up the phone. Just blame it on NJCU!

Phil:

The word on the street is that at least two venues have applied for membership in the MAC. Do you know if TCNJ is one of them?

phil

Warren, I have absolutely no idea – though it would be nice if they did!
