I'm starting to get the football itch also. The Rowan guys do a good job on this board and makes me envious as an MSU fan. No matter how hard I try get some support, it appears to be the impossible dream. I know it's only June, but the season starts in less then 90 days.

I know the recruits are a big NJAC secret, and we basilly have to wait for the 1st pratice to get some info.

As far as the Mighty Red Hawks go we have a pretty good schedule this year. Nice to play 10 games. Rowan, Cortland, Salisbury, Spingfield, Iona(always a tough game) and not to forget TCNJ and the rest of the NJAC. 7-3 would be nice. We have  lot of work to do. (1) loss on O, but a big one with Ferriol. Not bad from a converted WR. (5) losses on D which is big. The D kept us in many games.Let's see what coach G comes up with this year.

Waz-Up with Kean. Coach C always seemed to be a good guy.

Any info on the NJAC would be appreciated.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!

Rams,

Must be nice to play a ten game schedule, the Profs wouldn't know anything about that.  Are you guys playing Iona in their parking lot of at Home?  What a weird stadium, or lack their of the Gaels have.

Good luck this year, except when you face the Profs.  I have had the itch now for over a month.  Can't wait for our boys to buckle the chin straps!

JT,

Thanks for the update.  The Rowan supporters genuinely appreciate all of your hard work and you do a great job with the website

4merprof,

Looked at the schedules of MSU and Rowan since 1999. We both have had (2) 10 game regular seasons. Don't understand why teams run away. I know teams were also afraid to play MSU many times. Good competition breads success. Even losing to a better team is a learning experience. Playing cupcakes does you no good. That is why I would like to see the ACFC disband (no offense to the conference), but add Brockport, Salisbury, and Wesley you could have a 11 team conference that could very well be the best in D3. It's amazing what you think about while you are waiting for a D3 football fix. :)

A couple weeks ago we talked about our favorite cliches.

Here's a thoughtful, witty and insightful column on coach-speak and other illnesses...

I know some of his remarks rubbed people the wrong way, but this is one reason why I'll miss GA Mangus.  He was the cure for coach-speak.

maybe someone can help me out here. I also complain that RPI only plays a 9 game schedule. And I know no one is 'ducking' them since they are playing such powerhouses as endicot and becker this year.

Is RPI ducking teams like rowan and MSU?... maybe, but I think If someone actually asked the AD why we don't pick up a 10th game they'd blame it on money. So... my question is does anyone know the rough cost for your basic overnight road trip?

RU Fan

Saw a copy of "Lindy's" at the grocery store tonight and they have Mount Union ranked #1, UW-Whitewater #2 and Rowan #3 ..... with Linfield ranked #8.

Ranking Linfield #8 will cause considerable "crying in their longies" out in Oregon.  Oh, by the way, its reported that Linfield Head Coach Locey resigned to accept a position at OSU.  Looks like things are a little shaky out in the Northwest. ;)

I hear 'ya brother.  9 game seasons stink but, at this point, it is what it is >:(

I doubt, however, that Brockport and/or Wesley would be breaking any legs rushing to join us.  Brockport dropped Rowan this year and picked up that powerhouse Morrisville State.  Wesley dropped Rowan 2 years ago; threw in some cupcakes (Newport News/Frostburg State) and added Morrisville State this year. ;)

I'm not sure why Brockport State dropped Rowan, but I was told that all teams in the SUNYAC were encouraged to add Morrisville State to their schedules wherever possible.  You'll notice Cortland added Morrisville, too.

Morrisville is a State school but not in the State University of New York Athletic Conference.

RU Fan,

I agree that the Catdome will not have the same swagger without Locey.  However great opportunity for Jay.  I'm sure that they will still be competitive.

In respect to playing a 9 game season, I agree that iit sucks for our boys.  You condition and train for 9 months in the off season to not play a full 10 game season.  However, the Profs will make it deep into the playoffs and nothing short of the walnut and bronze will be a disappointment this year.  I would imagine that with Orihel back for his final season, along with our tremendous "D", I can't imagine why we are ranked all the way down at 3 for the preseason polls.  But I guess it really doesn't matter.  What matters comes in Salem in late December.

Gordon,

Great article to back up previous posts!

To the Prof Nation,

A friend of mine that knows a friend of a friend of the Phil Silva family said that he had signed a contract with the Jets...  Can anyone add any validity to this.  If so, GREAT JOB PHIL, and good luck!

Gro, I dont think RPI is ducking the NJAC schools but they dont play public schools so that pretty much limits them.

I also think an overnight trip for upstate teams depending on location
(hotel in Ithaca is more than a hotel in Springfield)  runs about 3,000-6,000

correction... RPI usually doesn't play public schools. It happens occasionaly. Kean, Plymouth State, Albany back in the day.

RPI needs at least 1 non conference challange, but I'm off that horse for a while. I'd just like the kids to get one more game. They should start playing Hartwick again (not an overnight trip).

Yea I think its an unwritten league rule now from what I heard from a Hobart source I have.

Knightstalker

If the LL has an unwritten rule like that it is pretty stoopit in my opinion.  Hobart, Union and RPI all need to play the NJAC schools or Cortland and Brockport.  What is the LL trying to become, the NESCAC west?
