Yea, but that was then and this is now. ;)  You can't live in yester-year forever!

But it sure is fun to reminisce, isn't it?

Did you prof followers (or former players) ever hear an explanation about why that game was as bad as it was?I know you guys had a good team and we definitely didn't go into that game thinking we were 52 points better than you. Just curious.

As someone who usually hates Rowan more than you can imagine.  I would have to say it was just one of those games.  Were the Jaguars really better than the Dolphins when they beat them several years ago 66-7 in a playoff game?  Sometimes one team has everything go right and the other team plays like they are wearing NJCU football uniforms.

Not really interested in your inside info as to why RU lost at Linfield.  At this juncture, its a moot point.  As I said, that was then and this is now. 8)

Thanks for the support but try to mellow your feelings about the PROFS.  We're really a bunch of nice guys ;D

downtown48...I suppose RUfan and 94.9 percent of the brown and yellow wouldn't care a whit if LINFIELD went in and embarrassed them at home either.

Don't bet on it ;)

I don't really have any inside info, that's why I was asking. If I did have info, I would have said, "I think Rowan lost so bad because of...whatever." The "question mark" is the indication of a question. The "period" is usually reserved for more of a statement structured sentence. I appologize to any English critics for not knowing the proper terminology.

Cut City:

Thanks for the punctuation lesson .... periods, question marks, etc.   Interesting info ... I'll try to remember that.   However, after your clarification, its obvious that  I misinterpreted your post.

I thought that you, in typical NW board arrogance, were offering to volunteer why the mighty kitty kats beat RU that day.  I don't think anyone who is a PROF fan, or anyone in general for that matter, cares to hear any more self praise from the Linfield faithful as to why they are the best and RU (and everybody else) isn't.  They beat that story line to death on the NW board and the NJAC board for months after the game.  In fact, there are a few Linfield diehards who still can't let it go.

As I posted before, I would love to see a rematch this year.  Maybe we can change a few of your minds. ;)

On a quiet Sunday, my Yankees had a tough weekend in Toronto (you need 5 pitchers and a consistant bull-pen to get to the dance, then once at the dance 3 starters will surfice) and not much on the boards, so I traveled to Don Hansen and he had his 2006 All Americans and Honorable Mentions :

1st "D"  Tosh - Rowan, Haas Cortland, Stair Cortland.
2nd "O" Orihel Rowan.
3rd "D" Simms Montclair, Davis WP, Jablonski Cortland.
Honorable "D" Fama Montclair, Heimerl Rowan, Montpetit Cortland, Beck Cortland.

Looks like Cortland is the winner from the NJAC. Nice to have All Americans on your team, but the main word is TEAM. Great teams win Championships and All Americans help.

6 more weeks and we will start to find out !!!!!!!!  I can't wait !!!!!

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Don Hansen has 35 players on his first team and two full pages of "Honorable" Mention all-americans. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-SEVEN OF THEM!

No offense, I think the team is a piece of crap and just a promotional vehicle for his newsletter. There's nothing honorable at all about that mention. Ridiculous.

Don should keep the list, drop the all american angle, and call it the 2006 who's who in D3 football.  Then charge parents $59.99 to purchase the hardcover edition.

I'm actually half serious about that.

XREDDRAGON77

Lets not forget that it's still a pre -season roster.  More like a shot in the dark until the post season roster comes out.  I was in the 96 Grid Iron Greats, what a scam!

Alfred University will have 158 young men in their pre-season camp. And they are ALL AMERICANS!

Well, not yet....I'll check when they arrive in Saxonville. To be honest, I wonder if, perhaps, we have some illegals. Glad I'm in the print trade rather than broadcast. I'd butcher pronunciations of some of these names.

Since I don't have a user name for the daily dose I would like to start a discussion here about it. Don Hansen.com named about 10,000,000 pre season all americans. I am on the side of Pat C with this whole thing because Hansen took away the prestige and honor of All American. This is college football not little league where everyone gets to play and gets a pat on the back or even high school football. All American is the highest honor a college football player can receive and when u name so many it surely takes away from that reward. Alright if Hansen wants to name 3 teams for All American I dont have a problem with that but when u start to list hundreds of honorable mentions and 3/4 players for each position on the other teams then I have a problem. Pat's system on D3 is the best as it recognizes the TOP players in the country not in a particular league or team but the country! I wish Hansen being such a college football guru would realize what he is doing when he announces so many "all americans"

I tallied the number of Don's preseason AAs per team, and here are the teams with five or more;
9 - Alfred (DB, DE, DT, OL, P, PK, QB, RB, WR)
7 - Delaware Valley (DB, DE, LB, LB, OL, PK, WR)
6 - Howard Payne (LB, LB, P, QB, WR, WR)
5 - Union (DE, LB, QB, RB, WR, WR)
5 - Bethel (DE, LB, OL, OL, RB)
5 - Brockport (DT, DT, OL, PK, TE)
5 - Cortland (DB, DB, DT LB, LB)
5 - Mt. St. Joseph (DE, LB, OL, PK, RB)
5 - Ohio Wesleyan (DB, DE, OL, OL, RB)
5 - UW-Oshkosh (DB, DE, LB, OL, RB)
5 - UW-Whitewater (DT, OL, OL,, QB, RB)

Other notables;
4 - Linfield (DT, DT, OL, P)
4 - Mary Hardin-Baylor (DB, LB, P, RB)
4 - Merchant Marine (DB, DE, LB, PK) - won three games in '05
3 - Mount Union (QB, RB, RB) - where's Garcon? defensive guys?
3 - Rowan (DE, DE, QB)
2 - St. John's (DE, WR)
Interesting that an 11-1 Wabash team who gave up only 10 pts a game has 1 AA (LB) and a 2-9 Cornell squad has 2 AAs (both LBs) having given up 30 ppg in '05.

Wow, I knew there were a number of Saxons but I didn't know that Alfred had the MOST! To my knowledge, Don Hansen is NOT an Alfred grad. However, after this All-American list perhaps we can award him an honorary degree come Commencement time!!!
