JT and Pat,

You guys do a great job. A year without Pat and Companies D3 Preview would be a empty footbll season. JT your little bit of info was great thanks. I went to the Montclar site today and low and behold was an indepth season preview along with the Pre-Season Roster. I have no idea why they have not submitted it to D3 Football.com. The boys come in today and officially start tomorrow. A scrimage with Lackawana on the 26th. Montclair has really done a nice job. Let's Get Ready For Some D3 Football !!!

HawksNation,

Welcome, and let's have a great year !!!!!!!!!

They did submit it to us this morning. However, I have not had time to edit and post yet and won't until late night.

I saw in the paper today that TCNJ was one of only seven public institutions given the rating of "Most Competitive" in Barron's College Guide. The other six colleges are the College of William and Mary in Virginia, the U.S. Military and Naval academies, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Virginia.

Unfortunately, I see plenty of similarities in the competitiveness of the above football programs in D1 to TCNJ's DIII fortunes. That's middle of the pack. The best I can hope for is TCNJ playing UCLA to Rowan's USC ... which would mean the Lions are still in for an arse-beating.

Here's to a great season.

I was thinking of you a few weeks back when the final question (or answer, as it were) on Jeopardy was, "The only State  doesn't have a major public university named after it."

The "correct" response was, "What is New Jersey?"

That should be news to the people who work at the College of New Jersey, I thought to myself.

I thought the better answer was New York since all the State schools mask New York in SUNY or drop it completely (e.g. Binghamton University) and NYU is arguably named after the City, not the state.

I thought about how I would react if I was on the show -- would I calmly wait until after the show to contest the answer?  Would I scream and yell foul on national (pre-recorded TV)?  Would I eagerly try to summon you to the studio in defense of my case?

I guess we'll never  know. :)

I was getting my hopes up towards the anticipated Cortland- Rowan game this season until I saw that Rowan has 17 returning starters.  Cortland has 20 returning starters if I recall correctly.  If  we Dragons don't make the magic happen this year, it may never happen.  NJAC in '06

Gordon, technically the answer is correct, TCNJ is a college and not a University and it is far from being considered major.  At least as far as the clowns on Jeopardy.

Yeah, I guess you're right.

Though I'm still not sure what New York has.  I think they were driving at the fact that NJ's "major university" is called Rutgers.  But I'm not sure New York even has something comparable.

PBR...

rutgers has a football team.... ;D    oh thats right psu's freshmen team scrimmages against them... 8)

As much as I feel for you guys, a win in the 'boro in 06 is just not going to happen.  It looks like the magic will have to wait.

Unless RU completely self-destructs, there is no way that Cortland will beat RU at home this year.  As I posted earlier, the Profs will certainly be up for the Cortland game (especially if there are NJAC title implications).   Also, they just don't like you guys. ;)

The only other game that could get them as excited would be a re-match with Linfield.  Now that's a game that I would like to see. 8)

Also, as an addendum to the above post, I would imagine that the Profs, back at full strength, would certainly get excited about meeting up with Mt Union again as well.  ;)

At this point of the season, one can only hope!

OK, let's get another name into the mix. Montclair State. We all know that Rowan is the top dog and Cortland is close behind. Before reading the Montcair preview I was concerned about the QB, Line Backers and Scondary. Our QB transfer was Honorable Mention 1-AA All Americam and MAAC Offensive Player Of The Year. The D should be good and if we can get some balance on O we may be a factor. We can't give up the deep pass. We ned to play more as a unit for 60 minutes and not just in spurts. Rowan and Cortland can afford such luxuries but Montclar can not. As I have repeated ealier, the first 3 games will set the table. If we can do that, the NJAC Conference will be huge. It appears that Montclair  is on he right track and if the development process continues at a strong pace, the Red Hawks may have an interesting season. I hope it happens

Do my eyes deseve me, is Montclair the only team in the NJAC to publish their season preview and list their 2006 pre-season roster? Yes !!!

Is this the sign of things to come? Maybe Montclair is maturing. ;)

They probably have an ambitious work-study student working with the SID this year.

Looks like the fans don't have much confidence in the Profs!  Of the 8 teams listed in the Current Poll, RU is picked 2nd as the most likely highly ranked team to lose a game first.

They'll just have to work a little harder to prove all of the naysayers wrong. ;)

Haven't deleved much into recent posts, so don't know if it's been noted, so............
