There goes special teams again.

Profs give up a score on the kick off to start the second half.

At this point I'm glad I didn't make the trip down to the boro.

You haven't mentioned the score once. What is actually the score?

Just got back from my HS game.  How did things work out for the Dragons.  Looks like Rowan had a little scare based on the score.  How did that game go?

Just got back from the Rowan game... here are my thoughts:

Defense played very well except for the one TD they gave up.  Special teams again gave up the big play on that return by Pito Gonzales for another TD.  Running game for the Profs was pretty good.  It seems to me that the Rowan offense is still looking for the right mix of receivers to replace Silva, Wright, D'Imperio, and the Stys brothers.  I believe the talent is there succeed, but it hasn't gelled yet due to the inexperience at the WR position.  Towards the end of the game some playmakers may be emerging. Emory Lester a freshman made a couple of nice grabs in the second half.  Still waiting for Will Barnes to breakout.  I think Markham might have been dinged up from the RMU game.  I didn't see him get any snaps.

Kelvin Bellamy had a great punt return down to the West Conn 15 late in the game that led to a rushing TD.

I think the Profs need to work on punt and KO coverage.  The defense needs to keep taking control of game while the offense works out the kinks. Now that Rowan is on a regular game schedule each week, that might help.

Also, West Conn was a lot better than I thought they'd be.  Their freshman QB is pretty good.  West Conn was in a max protect, short passing mode most of the game, and it kinda negated the Prof rush a little bit.  I think they've taken that next step and might be among the good NJAC programs in 2006.

West Conn will certainly be in my top 30, just not sure where yet.

I missed the Westconn v Rown game.  It was closer than I thought it would be.
Westconns team is primarily freshman all around.  Next few years may be interesting and change up the power balance in the NJAC.
NJAC have several strong teams that would be in the top two positions in many of the other conferences.

ok i lied....rickert went for 100+ on 18 carries........am i being too cautious in thinking that CSTATE is that good? when a RB has 100 and i dont recall him having that good of a day.......?

Profs blow another one on special teams.

A running into the kicker , And had a touchdown called back. ??? ??? ???

I'm looking at my pics and the Rowan player was clearly blocked into the kicker.  Bad call should have been a TD on the punt return.... 31-17 Rowan

Montclair - 27         TCNJ - 7

TCNJ scored first and then the Montclair D took over. The O still needs work but they are improving slowly. They need to step it up for their trip to Buffalo. We need to keep on improving the O and I'm sure Coach G. will get er done. The place was really packed and full of team spirit. It was nice talking to Phil during the game. I thought we had maybe 2,000 and Phil said maybe 3,500. It was a great day, I had a chance to talk to some of last years players. I think Montclair is on the right track. Let's take it one game at a time.

Phil - it was a pleasure spending time with you and the best of luck in Houston, my friend. Don't be a stranger up north!!!
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

JT,

I was listening to the broadcast, and I believe that a Rowan player was blocked into the kicker on another punt that was not called for that reason.

In any case, from the sounds of things the special teams for Rowan have not been that special lately.

I know I am at times tough on Rowan, but we fans or in some of our cases, ex-players having been watching and following Prof football since our playing days.  We want to win the big one.  When we see play like the recent special teams play, or the offense struggling to get a first down with an all-american QB under center, it drives us die hard fans CRAZY!!!!

This type of slow start was more common during the KC Keeler era, when we had to deal one year wonders trying to learn the system.  The thing that scares me about this year is that we have many more program players.

I know the defense is good enough, but maybe the offense just does not have what it takes to make it to Salem this year.  I hope I am wrong.  I'll be fine once Rowan brings home the National Championship.  I just hop[e that I don't have to wait too many years to see that happen.
