The profs ground game seems like it's in good shape.  Profs 28 Buffs 7.  Orihel breaks Hessons school record for passing yards.

Profs 35 Bengals 7.  Rankin in for Orihel...mop up duty.

Pat,

You said that you thought that Cortland might be a tad underrated at #16.  After watching the West Conn game how do you feel?

I listened to most of the game today.  There was almost no change in the offensive philosophy as far as play calling and predictablility went.  But thats OK, as long as the team executes better.  And thats what they did today.

One of my years in high school, my coach wanted to prove a point on our strength on the offensive line, so from the 20 yard line on one of our drives he made us run only the  32 dive.  Well, 21 plays and 8:00 minutes off the clock later, we scored.

Can this Rowan team go deep into the playoffs and possibly compete for a NC with thier present offense?  I'm not sure.

I can say this though, the offense improved 200% from the previous 4 weeks of play.  If they keep improving the EXECUTION, anything can happen. ;)

So, will the real Rowan please stand up?

Thank goodness we didn't have Cortland or Montclair early in the season. ;D

Good job this week coaches.

Also, FWIW Robert Morris beat the 19th ranked (D1-AA poll) Central Connecticut State 23-17.

I also listened to the game on Sunday, while trying to get some work done in the home office.  I have to agree with RowanLB.  The offense certainly didn't change, however the exectution was slightly better, however it came verse Buff State.  The same team that allowed Kean to put up 50 points.  I think that this week for the Profs is not going to be any walk in the park verse Kean.  If we can't put up some more consistent offensive numbers, it is a matter of time until AJ Roque will hurt you.  I'm not sure if the kid is a true QB, but he is definitely a talented athlete that has the ability to make plays.  I'm sure our defense will keep him in check for the majority of the game, but it only takes one play to change the complexion of the game.

Best of luck this week and congrats to Orihel for breaking Hesson's record.  Hopefully the offense will start to roll and I think that after this week playing Kean, we'll have a better idea if this Prof team can compete on a National level.  We know we can from a Defensive standpoint, the offense???

WOW ... Sitting at my computer and listening to a game is a whole hell of a lot warmer (and cheaper) than trudging up to Cortland .... however, you do lose a lot visibly.   The play calling didn't seem to be a whole lot different than the prior 4 weeks.  I'm still waiting for all of these adjustments and changes that are supposed to take place.  However, it looks like Accorrsi got the running game that he was looking for.  Now what's he going to do to get his passing game back?  He talked in the pregame show that the Orihel has to get rid of the ball quicker.  WRs getting open, improved O line and SB blocking and rolling the QB out should remedy a lot of that.  We've seen that the kid's got good legs ....use them!

Can this team go deep into the playoffs and compete for a NC the way things are now?  Don't get too excited about the Buff State game.  No disrespect to Buff State but they're not Mt. Union.  With the running game seemingly improved, there is no question that the Receivers Coach has a lot of work to do.  Looking at the passing stats, the WRs don't seem to be any better than they were in the CNU game.  The play calling isn't helping either.  Without a stronger passing game and putting Orihel in a position to produce, I don't think that reservations in Salem will be necessary.

Tough games lie ahead and, if the Profs are successful in those, even tougher games in the playoffs.  The coaching staff keeps saying that the passing game will come together ..... the season is more than half over.  Maybe somebody is waiting for somebody to say this, so here goes ........ "NOW" would be a good time for the passing game to come together!

Lets build on this win and get the balance we need to be ready for Kean, Montclair and Cortland.  Once the "Swagger Is Back", its going to be tough to beat this team. ;)

By the way, congratulations to Orihel for breaking Hesson's/Rowan's passing record.

RU Fan,

The swagger is gone, but not forgotten.  I'm sure that the Kean, MSU and Cortland games of year past the swagger was good for a few points.  The only thing that the Profs have shown thus far this year is that, "they are beatable".  That swagger in years past had teams fretting playing the Profs, and had teams not looking forward to playing RU.  However this year, they are probably excited until the Profs come to town, to finally get their revenge

I agree with most of what you've posted.  I don't think that the Swagger is gone but I do think that its been put into mothballs.  It sounded as though the team started to show who they were on Sunday.  Once they start believing in themselves, they'll be a tough Win for anybody.

The best thing that can happen now is that Kean, Montclair and Cortland all take the field thinking that they'll spank the Profs.  Whoops!  Their mistake!

This team has to improve everyday (practice as well as game day) with each player reaching down and giving their best.  If changes are planned, its time to implement them for the stretch run.  If RU can put together a "balanced" attack, some teams are going to have some long Saturday afternoons and longer rides home.

Can the Profs be beaten...... sure they can .... but so can Mt. Union! ;)

Three missed extra points and a long kickoff return.  Gotta keep working on those special teams.  The Buff St game is certainly something to build on.

JT,

Not to be the eternal pessimist, but something to build on, could be interpreted as something that we consider to be more than it was.  Beating Buff State should not give us extreme momentum going into the last half of the season.  If the '06 Profs are feeling really good about beating a team with only one win, that could spell disaster.

I do agree that our special teams need an expedential amount of work, and the offense wasn't any different from the first half of the year, we just played the worst team we have faced thus far.  Buff State just simpply isn't there yet in respect to competing on a level field within the NJAC.

Any Montclair Fans Out There,

Just got back from visiting my Mom in Nanticoke, Pa. What a difference a week makes. I just looked at the box score. 55 yards for each team rushing and we were out passed almost 3 to 1 and the Kean QB had 4 picks. One of our TD's came from a Hunt Int. We were leading going into the 4th and lose. Sounds like the O did not improve. Now we have to run the table. Cortland next, we better hope the football Gods are looking at us favorable. I would like to hear some comments from anyone.

Time to get ready to deal with Cortland.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Many teams schedule patsies early in the season to work on execution.  While I don't think Buff St is a good NJAC team yet, they have been in ballgames against Cortland, Montclair, and Kean.

The Profs have to start somewhere.  A little success might be just what they need.
