Well I guess the dust has setteled so here goes :

Congratulations to Cortland. As I have said in the past Cortland is a well rounded team and well coached. Nothing flashy, but very solid. This team could go a long way.

That beig said, this was the most disappointing Montclair game I have seen. I left after the start of the 4th quarter. I have never played competitive Football but I can call almost every offensive Montclair play. Don't you think our oppositon knows this. Hello !!! We have one of the better Defenses around, but when you give up 3 TD'S off interceptions you have no chance. I don't know if that was our QB'S fault or the play calls. What happened to McCoach the second half? I was not at the Kean game, but I heard that we out played them and they got in out heads and we could not handle that. As I said, Cortland is a very good team, but our offense did not give us a chance. I do not blame the players. What's up with Coaches G & O. The life was sucked out of the team and it's the Coaches job to get the life back in and make the adjustments. I could say a lot more, so its time I shut up.

Let's get ready for Rowan. We have a lot of work ahead of us.

LET'S GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rams,

Did you cut and paste one of the Rowan posts from two weeks ago???  Believe me, I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!!

What's the scoop on TCNJ this season?  I haven't been hearing much out of Lion Land.
Taste It

I'm a TCNJ (Trenton State in my day alumn). I lurk here alot, but rarely post because I get to maybe one game a year live and just don't feel that qualified to talk about the team. I was there on the 14th for homecoming vs W.Paterson.  If you look at the Lions record it pretty much says it all: they are a mediocre team. They have a few real good players on each side of the ball, but that's about it. Some people think the veryh academic standards at the school these days has had a detrimental effect on the gridiron - I really don't know if that's true or not.

TCNJ's defense is competitive with the best of the NJAC. Their offense on the other hand, is simply the worst. They have a weak offensive line (made worse by injuries), and QB's that run for their life all day long. Their special teams average giving up a blocked punt per game. If you look at how little TCNJ's offense does, you'll be that much more impressed by their defense. Last week all 10 WestConn points were set up by special team and offensive miscues – a continuing theme this year.

This TCNJ squad is very close to being a good to very good team – but the whole team struggles when you have a poor O-line.

I happen to strongly believe that TCNJ football is suffering from their academic standards. While they have their share of special admits, I doubt there's enough to go around. If you're a talented lineman who's scoring 1300 on your SATs you don't have to worry about which NJAC school to go to. You're thinking about Lehigh, Lafayette, Delaware, Villanova, Penn and Princeton (and a host of others).

I agree the calls have to change, but I cant blame the coaches for the interceptions. The passing was again not on target, over the head or too short to catch. Cortland showed up to play FOOTBALL as did Kean, something the Redhawks have to get back into. The Redhawks need to forget the last 2 games. You cant have the D on the field all game, the O has to go more than 3 and out. Change things up and lets get back to the REAL REDHAWK FOOTBALL that we all know.
It was a pretty good crowd at Sam Mills Stadium, lets keep up the support.

Lets go redhawks!!!!!!!!!!!

Hawkdad,

I was trying to be kind to Jump. I think the kid is talented, has heart, but is really confused. When he got his bell rung, and the Cortland side yelled hit him again (don't know if players or fans) but that really blew and I went nuts. When I left, I saw the kid on the sidelines and he appeared to look real confused. I agree with your comments, but Giancpla and O'conner have been given passes for 3 years. They have to be held accountable, and they are not. Comments !!!

wait im confused......did they mean hit him on the next play or hit him late on the same play?

rams1102

cstate19,

Jump had his bell rung in the 2nd quarter. He was sort of OK, Montclair called a time out, and during the time out the statement was made. I would not wish that on anybody. He did make the next play. To me that just blows. That being said, you guys are a real good team and should go real deep in the playoffs.

hmmm.......was he visably shaken? or visably ok?...........i think that its complete bush league if it was said while the kid was laying on the field, being carted or helped off........if he was standing on his own power and was obviously in the huddle well then im sure the motivation of the D line was to get to jump and "hit him again"...........i wasnt there and not sure but i guess its borderline......

I agree with Cstate here.....However, as a former player for Macneil, and some of the other coachs, i will bet my life, that if was being helped off the field, that statment did not come from the cortland sideline.....Coach Mac is all about class.,..thats what he instills in us red dragons from day 1 till the thats meeting that we attend as seniors....that had to come from a fan......who prob. never played the game before, but i still would hope that its not true, unless he was just shaken up and walking back to the huddle.....but thats how fans get, i can remeber playing a state playoff game in highschool agaisnt nanuet, our startign MLB went down, and the crowd chanted, 1 down, 10 to go.....so people just dont have class
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

flash

If it was yelled during the time out, the kid was walking around shaking his head, it looked to me like he got his bell rung. I did not hear anything like that, but I was sitting with the Cortland parents, so it might have come from a different section. Still, something like that is uncalled for. And I agree with the cortland guys, that is not something you usually hear from a Cortland sideline. I have to hand it to the QB, he is a tough kid, he was taking a beating all day and kept coming back.

Hawkdad

Ram,
I did not hear that at the game, but did see C-state player go to help Jump get up.  And the fans clapping for him when he did get up. Everyone gets a bell rung in the game. What really bothered me was the MSU band still playing and the Cheerleaders still cheering while Jump was down. I am not  impressed with Jump. They (O-line)needs to protect the QB and stop the penalities. The O-line coach needs to get the line together. They come off the field sit on the bench go over a play on the chalkboard and never have conversation with Jump. They need to get it together and help each other. If you watch the QB, he never talks with his players on the sideline when they come out. He should be talking it up with the Offense not listening to the Offense coach telling him he's doing fine. The QB should be the leader on the field, you dont see that with Jump.  The second QB should stay in the game, the boy showed some heart.  Everytime they get in the red zone they choke. The kicker's not helping much either.    LETS GO REDHAWKS

DJAC Darrell,

You gotta be out of your mind or just stupid. Montclair rolling over dying for Rowan is like Al telling Peg "I love you" You gotta do better then that.

Hawkdad,

Just back from business. All the points we have made lead to one thing. Better Coaching and that starts from the top. Let's get it done and go 3-0 and hope for an ECAC bid. We can do it if we want to!!!!!!!!!!!!

All You Cortland Posters,

Let's forget the past incident, you are a good team, and spanked us pretty good. Good luck the rest of the way out and represent the NJAC well.
