So here we are, about 70% into the season and Rowan still has not found its click that they once had on offense.  I am going to accept the fact that Rowan just has a below average offensive unit this year.  Otherwise I am just driving myself crazy each week, and I do not like it when I find myself posting negatively about my team.

So here is what I'm hoping for:  This is argueably the best defensive unit I have ever seen at Rowan.  Could be one of the best in the last decade of D3 football.  (Just look at the defensive stats against decent teams and absolutely no help from the offense)  I would like to see the offense play mistake free football, get out of the no-huddle and control the ball better.  I'm not looking for huge offensive outputs, just less mistakes.  This defense will create turnovers and give us great field position.  Lets start that run!!!

DJAC,

I totally agree with your last post. That is why I hold Coach G and our offensive coordinater Coach O  ACCOUNTABLE !!!!!!!!!! If you played college athletics, this is not rocket science. And IMHO we do have a chance for an ECAC but this Sat is Critical.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!![/color]
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Looks like its getting viscous out here.  Wouldn't we all love to see an underdog Montclair upsetting Rowan?  Anyway, I am sure the Rowan guys would hate that but would make things interesting.
Taste It

There is no way that montclair will roll over and die for anybody the rest of the season, let alone thier rival rowan.........i would love to see the red hawks take down rowan.......cortland rolls again this season, as that coching staff is to good to let them over look a league game the week before rowan.......lets get #8 boys.....
No matter where we go, it's about who we are.......C-STATE!!!!!!!!

JT,

First off, how about you spell your website correctly?  www.rownfootball.com???  I know that us GSC grads aren't that intelligent, but come on, help us out!  j/k

So, now I see that MSU is Rowan's rival... How about TSC/TCNJ and Cortland (recently).  The ultimate NJAC rivalry of the past two decades has been GSC/TSC, prior to that I would agree that it was MSU.  However, I guess when you have had the amount of success the Prof program has had over the past 20 years, it makes you everyone's rival.

I definitely have respect for the MSU program, but this year MSU will NOT compete with the Profs, with or without an offense.  I looked at the weather last night for Saturday and it looks like rain.  MSU has proven that they are not a great passing team in dry weather and they absolutely will not be able to run on the Prof "D".  This game will not be a high scoring game, but the Prof "D" pitches the goose egg, and the prof's score two TD's and miss both extra points.  Profs win 12-0.  My prediction also... less than 200 yards of total offense in the game for both teams combined.  Field position and defense wins this game in the rain for the Prof's.

The Cortland game the following Saturday, I am a little more worried about.  If the offense can't move the ball, this one could go the other way.  Our offense is also too predictable and it appears that the offense only runs about 6 different plays, and as a fan that never played college football, only high school, I can't believe that this Prof team can't muster up some different plays to mix it up.

1st down, inside handoff
2nd down, inside handoff
3rd down, option (if 3rd and short), 3rd and long qb rolls out and throws to flat/curl
4th and one, 5 wide, QB sneak

mix in qb under center, slot in motion, sweep... Then next play QB under center, slot motion, inside handoff.

Now I'm old and I'm not a scout, but I'm sure that MSU, Cortland and Willy P know this as well.  Our offense is like an old Seinfeld episode, we've all seen it before, and we know what's coming.

I will definitely be at the game this Saturday, weather permitting, and I bet if I had a dollar for every play I knew the Prof's we going to run prior to the snap on Saturday, I could take off of work next week and not get paid and still break even!

I agree with you. It doesn't matter the quality of team which Kean, Paterson, WestConn, Buff St., Montclair or Cortland puts on the field – at the end of the day there isn't a game in the NJAC the entire season which fills the bleachers and matches the fan intensity of Rowan v. TCNJ.

Sorry a little tired last night.

I am sorry I had to comment; Cstate is one of the dirtiest teams I ever played against when I was at Montclair State. Out of all the teams I have played against in high school and while at MSU, Cortland stands alone at the top as being the dirtiest team ever!!! TCNJ tough team works hard, it's a good rival, Rowan very athletic, spread offense fun to play against and there is a mutual respect when you play them. When I think about Cortland there just a bunch of dirty players with little respect for the game. They constantly high low you and never get called for it, clearly there coaches think its fine because I have never seen them not use this technique. Call me crazy but intentionally trying to tear someone's knee should not be accepted no matter how much you want to win.  A couple of years ago what I saw an o line man from Cortland do to one of our players was probably the most disgusting thing I have ever seen another player do. He mollied around and just stood there waiting for the o lineman to redirect and put his helmet in the back of his knee and laughed about it after being called for a penalty, and almost started a brawl, didn't see the coaches take him out, THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT   ... Second, class you say??  A few years ago Cortland upset us at our place, there was about 45 seconds left in the game all they had to do was take a knee and they called a time out to attempt a field goal. I have never seen coach G so pissed in my life and pretty sure he had some words with the Cstate coach when the game was over. So when you say that Macniel instills pride and respect, where is the pride on high lows and trying to run up a score, when I can assure that all the years I played at MSU Coach G refuses to even think about attempting to embarrasses another team by pulling a bush league move like that. Never would he have pulled a stunt like that, never.  Once again though I must reiterate my stance on saying the Cortland year in and year out is one of the dirtiest teams I have ever played against, I have very little respect for them and there head coach because of the things he lets his players get away with on a yearly basis.

I'd have to agree.  Over the years I've seen some pretty dirty moves by the Cortland oline.  Diving at the back of an opponent's knees seems to be a signature move.

Hawk,

The only Cortland upset at your place in the past few years was in 2004, which ended with Cortland taking a knee at around their own 30, after a goal line stand by the defense. What game are you taking about???? Checked all the way back to 1998, and I don't find any game at your place that ended that way.

Also, while your assesment might be correct of Cortland teams of past years, I cannot agree with that being true of the current team, they play hard and tough. I have been to every game and have not seen the dirty play that you describe.

Plus, coach Mac has pulled the entire first team, twice this year in the 3rd quarter when cstate had a big lead, doesn't sound like trying to run up the score to me. In fact, the only game I've seen this year where cortland was still throwing the ball late in the game with a big lead was the Montclair game. Maybe there's just some bad blood between the 2 coaches for some reason.

John McGraw

Sounds like sour grapes to me. The 2004 game ended with Cortland taking a knee after Montclair couldn't punch the ball in on five straight running plays from the one-inch line. I have the game on CD and I know because I was there.

Montclair's reputation isn't exactly squeeky clean either.

If you personally have a problem with Cortland, then that's fine. But don't bring your garbage and accusations here to this forum. This is a place where we discuss football (and lots of other stuff) intelligently and occasionally do some trash talking. Your post is neither.

Wow, someone from Montclair calling another team dirty?  Paging the kettle, the pot has something to say to you.  How about the brutal late hit, to the head, in the playoffs that ended IC Quarterback Brian Young's career? (Remember kids, cheaters never win.  We still monkey stomped your behinds with our backup...at your place).  How about the late hit on Aaron Fiorini on a pass that sailed 35 yards over his head?  How about the time a Montclair DL ripped off one of IC OL's helmet (May have been Chriss Swiss) and threw it out of the back of the end zone?

Whether Cortland is dirty or not, I don't know.  (The fact that JT thinks they are makes me think they are probably not a dirty team).  I have seen some nasty plays in the Cortaca game but, I suppose all that has to be taken with a grain of salt because I think some IC guys do stupid things in that game too.  Nevertheless, for a fan/explayer/affiliate of the dirtiest college in the northeast to criticize them for it is laughable at best.
