Wouldn't we all love to see an underdog Montclair upsetting Rowan?

........i would love to see the red hawks take down rowan.......

dragons 77 & 58;

Sounds like the Cortland faithful are a little nervous about their visit to the 'boro on Nov. 4th.  Careful guys, your lower lips are quivering.

Rooting for Montclair to take down Rowan for you!  Nahhhhhh, you have to come to the 'boro and do that for yourself .......................... if you can! ;)

Oh, dragon 77, How about an underdog Rowan upsetting Cortland?
Taste it yourself!

I can't take it anymore.  I've kept my silence for a long time now and now I must be heard. These anti Rowan posters are starting to piss me off.  Plus, those LL posters have finally stopped stalking me after RU's win last year at Union.  Remember all the "yeah but our school is harder to get into academically crap"? That league is still weak in my mind.

RU has the best D in the nation we all know that.  Their O obviously has been a disappointment.  But they are still the favorite until someone knocks them off.  And what if they start clicking on O?  I personally think they blow out Montclair and WP and win the Cortland game in a close one.  Then they are PRIMED for that playoff run we all want.  So posters please hold all of your anti-Rowan talk until then.

Sincerely,

RowanTexan

2002. Don't tell me, I played the game. We were down by 4 or 5 I think and driving down the field, and one of our players got a penalty and we ended up turning the ball over on downs, we were out of timeouts and the game was over. They called a timeout on a 2nd down to set up a play action, which was completed so they wouldn't have to punt, fine. Than they ran the ball and called another timeout to try and attempt a field goal and as they kicked the ball the time ran out and G had words with the coach when the game was over... I stand by every word I said I loved playing against TCNJ it always was a tough hard fought battle and when the game was over both teams were spent, no matter who won or lost there was a mutual respect. Same for Rowan even though over the years some of the scores have been lopsided. I would never expect to get a high low from either of those two upper tier teams in our division, Cortland -you better wear your knee braces bc there trying to end careers and your visors because there eye gauging in the pile. Sorry don't mean to ruin your post but I won't sit back and read through this without voicing the facts, not opinion. That story I wrote on my last post about what that player did, that's embarrassing to everyone whoever played the game. Don't get me wrong I have definitely tried to take a legal cheap shot on a guy LEAGAL but to premeditate how your going to take someone knee out like that is horrible and has no business in sports. If I were a coach and one of my players did that I would have benched him quick, I have never seen anyone from Montclair do that, you can say what you want about the pot calling the kettle black, that is ridiculous... I have been playing this game for a very long time and if one of my teammates ever took a cheap shot like that to an opponent, you can bet your @#$ I would have had some serious words with my own teammate on the sideline and after the game. My days maybe over but what stands out in my mind about the Cortland teams that I have played against its not how good JJ Tutwiler was or when they upset Rowan in 01 or our close games we had with them over the years, its wow I have never played against a dirtier group than those guys, and there is something to be said for that. As for this year I was at the game I think Cortland is very fundamentally sound and exploited our weaknesses, maybe the coach has changed his philosophy because I didn't see the same behavior with this year's class.

Here's the 2002 game. Are you sure you played in this? You don't seem to have a firm grasp on the facts.

Cortland State 20, Montclair State 16
Oct 05, 2002

UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. — Junior quarterback J.J. Tutwiler threw two second-half touchdown passes as Cortland State scored 17 unanswered points en route to a 20-16 victory over Montclair State before a crowd of 1,225 at Sprague Field in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

Tutwiler finished with 261 yards as the Red Dragons (4-1, 2-1 NJAC) defeated MSU for the first time since the 1997 season. Montclair State's John DiGirolamo threw for 283 yards as the Red Hawks (1-3, 0-1) lost a conference game for just the second time in their last 18 NJAC contests.

Montclair led 10-3 in the third quarter before Cortland tied the score with 9:12 left after marching 93 yards. Tutwiler kept the drive alive with a 6-yard, third-down completion to Neal Heaton, Jr. Three plays later at the Cortland 42, again on third-down, Tutilwer scrambled away from three defenders before finding a wide-open Heaton at the MSU 24. Heaton then raced the final yardage to tie the game at 10-10.

After a Montclair punt and blocking penalty that pinned the Red Dragons at their own 4, Cortland marched 96 yards in 12 plays that took over five minutes. A Tutwiler 25-yard pass to Rocco Colucci helped bring the ball down to the MSU 17. After an incompletion, Tutwiler connected with Tony Romano for a 17-yard touchdown and a 17-10 Cortland lead with 11:18 to play in the fourth quarter.

Things then got worse for Montclair State as a low snap on a punt forced a turnover on downs as the Montclair 26-yard line. The Red Dragons then converted that miscue into a 35-yard field goal by George Oostmeyer.

Montclair State's final touchdown came with time expired as DiGirolamo connected with Jasper Hankins on a 55-yard catch-and-run touchdown.

Cortland didn't even line up for that play, they pretty much stood around.. Right before that is when they called time out to lineup for a field goal which is when we took over on downs and like I said Cortland pretty much stood around

Pat Coleman

In looking at the box score I don't really see all the problem about going for a field goal up 20-10 with 22 seconds left. They started that drive with 5:05 left.

Dude its not like Cortland was up by 21 and then called time out to kick it....

As someone who's totally impartial here, your way off on this one....

Knightstalker

I am a coach up by ten with 22 seconds left to play, I probably try to kick the field goal too.  Teams have made up ten points in less time than 22 seconds.

Montclair fans REALLY should not be talking about behavior. Although, they don't have the greatest role models. Like in 1999 when the wrestling coach had to be removed from the IC gym by CAMPUS SAFETY he went so bonkers over a call. Or Giancola accusing Welch of running up the score after a touchdown that put IC up 26-7....in a playoff game. I believe Giancola ran out onto the field George Brett style after that one. More recent? How about baseball 2006, with both coaches berating the home plate ump pretty much the whole game. The ump warned them, and Sieberg came out to tell him to "calm down" and then started screaming at him about how he "was a little leaguer" (this continued for about 10 minutes). During the game the next day, after MSU's first baseman got dinged up, a bench guy yells over to IC's bench, "No trainer? Thanks!"

And all this stuff me and Jose are talking about is ONLY AGAINST IC. it ain't like we're rivals. Anyone else want to share stories about the crybabiest school in the East?

Hawkdad

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, Gentlemen. Sour grapes Not good. Those games are over lets get back to this season. Like I said before, Cortland came to play ball. Good luck to them the rest of the season. Rowan at MSU this week.  LETS GO RED HAWKS.

JT

Wow.  I didn't think we'd get all this.  I will say that the last Cortland/Rowan game I was at was pretty clean. Maybe the thugs are gone from the Cortland program, the oline used to be well known for chop blocks and cheap shots after being beaten by the defender.  Thankfully, no serious injuries occured.

HawksNation

Obviously not to many of you actually played ball here if you don't see a problem with it, I could give you several reasons why from a football standpoint it's just not a smart move.

MaxPlayer I am not talking about any other program at MSU I can't control what any of them do and I am not even refuting the fact that our football team hasn't had players take cheap shots, I think I made my point clear that after being a PLAYER at Montclair what stands out in my mind about Cortland is how dirty they were year in and year out by far the worst.
