You are already back down to 7 again, right after I gave you +K!  Wow that went quick.

I think the NJAC wins the award for having the most DEFENSIVE posters in all the land...You can't say anything good or bad!

maxpower

+k to portgrad for giving his all to the lost cause of "keeping maxpower's karma respectable." peeps are after me.

JT

One thing that should be mentioned is that lineman tend to be self policing.  There are plenty of ways for a DL to discourage an OL from cut blocking (legal), chop blocking (hi/low, illegal).

I'm not hitting anyone with negative karma.  It is just a discussion.

Don’t tell me, I played the game.

I have been playing this game for a very long time  My days maybe over but...

Obviously not to many of you actually played ball here if you don't see a problem with it, I could give you several reasons why from a football standpoint it’s just not a smart move.

I think I made my point clear that after being a PLAYER at Montclair what stands out in my mind about Cortland is how dirty they were year in and year out by far the worst.

Just out of curiosity HawksNation, did you play football in college?  Hey guys, I think there is a chance HawksNation played football.  I am not sure though.  Were you a player and, if so, for what team did you play?

Don’t get me wrong I have definitely tried to take a legal cheap shot on a guy LEAGAL but to premeditate how your going to take someone knee out like that is horrible and has no business in sports.

This may be the funniest thing I have ever seen posted on this board.  Let me summarize your argument as I understand it:

1) Montclair does not play dirty.

2) You played for Montclair.

3) You took "cheap shots".

4) Somehow those "cheap shots" were "LEAGAL" (which I am assuming is a Montclair term of art that means "won't get you thrown in jail.")

5) They were "LEAGAL," at least in part, because they were not "premeditated."

I suppose this means that your "cheap shots" could result in "injury" (See: Bomber starting QB Brian Young in the 2002 playoffs in one of the cheapest shots ever) but you cannot be considered dirty for said "cheap shot" because you didn't think of it before the game started? This seems like a fluid standard to me given that you played at Montclair.  If premedidation is the standard, you gotta figure Montclair could never run afoul of this rule given that they don't think before, during or after the game.

LOL

Jose hit the nail on the head.  I saw a prime example of MSU football in that 2001 game, the hit on Young was viscious and VERY late.  As has been said before, I don't think we (IC posters) can comment too much about Cortland because of the huge rivalry will always bring out a little more in a game but I have never seen too much bad from Cortland....maybe the fans always overshadow the players, but Cstate is nothing compatred to what I saw in the 01 playoffs.

Dr. xGSC

I had the pleasure of playing against MSU way back and their Oline at the time were so fat and slow, they could do nothing but try and chop you down. Wasn't their Oline Coach Conrad Dobler? LOL

Just kidding peeps, easy now on the negative karma.

As a former LB, I did my very best to play a clean game most  ;) of the time. Sometimes a player gets caught up in the moment, takes something personal in a game (gets cheap shotted himself, beat on a play, misses a tackle, etc), and as a result, they will do something where they hope they don't get caught.

I believe it is a coaches responsibility to keep their players in check. If you can dish out the pain and punishment, you must be willing to receive it as well.

Just my $.02!

LONG LIVE THE BORO!

If you do ANYTHING, give it your EVERYTHING!

Unless some of these recent grads are Bills or Cardinal fans they won't know who Dobler is.  Many of these guys weren't even born when the dirtiest offensive lineman in Pro football retired (1981).

quick response, not swaying one way or the other, but, after reading the 5 pages of posts on this it sounds like the evidence given is for Montclair to be ddiiiirrrrtttyyyy!  IC fans will always remember one of the best QBs in Bomber land going down with that head injury.  Cstate fans wont forget their incidents.  And then Hawksnation who PLAYED on the team, incase we forget he posts it with every post, says everyone is dirty.  sounds like the ole poor me, look at me, philosophy.  what tramatic moment in MState history do you have? besides of course cortland running up the score and beating you by 4.  ooo weee thats too much.

press release on the following monday read something like this, reporter; so what did you think about the game?
MS player: "those cortland guys were sooo mean, I mean like, how coudl you play so dirty?  they almost got mud on my jersey!  Did you see that?"

JT

I must be insane.  Just called in for my field pass at Montclair to take photos.  Weather forecast calls for Heavy Rain during the game with 17 mph winds.  What kinda pics can come from that?

I'm hoping the heavy rains will all come before 1pm.  At least I'm only 10 minutes from campus.

JT

Gobombers,

I've got weather from weather.com for Montclair linked directly on my site.  So I'll be watching.  Reminds me of the Sam Mills tribute I covered last year at Montclair.  Friggin monsoon.  Trying to kept the equipment dry, get a decent shot or two.  The President of the school kept getting in the way.  Judging from her conversations, I doubt if she knows whether the football is blown up or stuffed.  "Excuse me please, I'm trying to get the shot.  If you're trying to stay dry, there's a better spot right over there."

maxpower, u have to be kidding me with that comment about cortland being extremly dirty....i played for cortland, and i can tell u that we where one of the most classy teams around, if we got an unsportsmen like penatly we paid for it on monday morn....however, i can remember the redhawks starting fights with us before a game down there when we took the field for friday practice...they came running out of the weight room after omar darling, our star half back.......the only reason u may think they where dirty is because of the cut blocking that we used to do, and the last time i checkd that 100% legal....get over the fact that we steam rolled u..........next stop tcnj....

XD58, sorry but when SJF played you guys in the ECAC's in 03, you guys were the most undisciplined bunch of players ive ever seen....

Seriously who throws the ball into the upper levels of the Growney Staduim seats after being run out of bounds?  Cortland guys thats who....

maxpower
