Rowanlb92, not mad at the players, or former players, just the fans that get nasty. I look forward to Rowan beating Cortland. No hard feeling and good luck to Rowan it's always a good game when we play.  My son is a starter.

Hawkdad,

From past experience, most programs forbid thier players from exchanging banter on this site.  The main reason is it usually causes an unneccesary distraction to the team.   Since you are the parent of a player you are close to the action and if it becomes known who you are the parent of there could be some collateral fall-out  that your son will unfairly have to deal with.  You might want to change your handle and post as supporter of the Montclair program.  Just some friendly advice.  Take it how you want.

I would like to here other thoughts on this subject. (if thier are any)

No, I'm saying the parent could add unneccesary distractions by inserting a foot in the perverbial mouth.  I believe it has happened!

Players who post here are found out pretty quickly and even more quickly disposed of. Mr. Nick Gatto of Alfred came on here last year with a quip about "I can't wait to line up on Saterday and see if your boys are as good as they're cracked up to be". Posters posted as many pictures they could find of him on the net, and now you are forbidden to say "Saterday" on the E8 board without using the correct (incorrect) spelling. Goodbye, Mr. Gatto. Same thing happened to at least one Springfield player this season. That's why Pat forces you to display your e-mail address.

As far as Fathers... we have more than our share of those. Some are able to objectively engage in discourse and even accept fair criticisms of their boys, others are just living vicariously and get in a snit if anyone suggests that their son isn't God's gift to football and mankind. It becomes pretty easy to tell which is which of those, too. It's a bad idea to have "dad" or anything like that in your handle because you have a stigma as a Homer++ that you will never get rid of. Of course when you're found out you won't get rid of it anyway, but at least it's not sitting there staring at everyone.

If you are genuinely interested in talking about all aspects of your team and your conference and DIII football, by all means, post away. But this isn't a forum to pump up your son. When you try to do that (not saying anyone here has), you both embarrass your son (by acting like an idiot) and humiliate him (by making it seem that you do all his dirty work for him, see Reile, James in re: Fisher football). For an example of a great poster father, see BobNapoleone. True, I may just be saying that because I'm an IC guy, but he never gets irrationally offended and can offer good analysis and commentary better than the other fathers that I know are out there.

rowanlb92

maxpower,
Good feedback on the subject.  Rowan had a pop a few years ago.  He would often up talk his son.  Well the son in his senior year never even got invited to camp.  That was the end of him.

Thanks 92-

And that reminds me; I have to go make fun of "proudpapa", who posted once before the SC-IC game and hasn't been heard from since. Coincidence???

rams1102

rowanlb92,

I know who you are talking about. I really liked the dad (only from posts). Was it that the dad said too much about the team or was there a problem with the player? I would really like to hear from the dad, I miss his posts. Another Rowan compliment. I have to stop. ;D

During my playing days at MSU I never posted on this website and to be honest never paid very much attention to it and the main reasons were, I didn't agree with the statements that people wrote because there are so many things that go on in practice or a game, whatever... That when people comment on something, they really don't know what there talking about simply because they don't know everything that is going on behind closed doors so when I would read the comments obviously it would anger me and want to say something but I know that would have be very inappropriate.
You don't know who is playing hurt or who had a falling out with a coach or whatever, all you can see is what happens on Saturday and post your opinion, I don't have a problem with anyone posting including a parent, just because I don't think anyone of any importance and I don't mean that in a bad way I mean it like any of our coaches really gives a crap about these message boards. The one person who won't stop about the horrible calls that were made, I mean it could have easily went another way I SAY AGAIN I WAS LITERALY RIGHT THERE AND JUMP WAS DOWN!!! Now if that were reversed I am sure you would be saying its football deal with it and than give an example of when your team got burned by the refs. Its a loss Montclair won they deserved to win they out played Rowan and the coaches at Rowan def did not help there team during the latter part of the game. Prob the most exciting game I watched since I played against TCNJ in 2003 when we wont that game in ot, hmm actually the Allegany game was very exciting to play in as well, but def up there though

I won't debate people when I'm right.

I stopped reading your post after that. For me, the only time I debate is when I'm right (or think so). You know, because I have proof and evidence and things? Seems to me like the webmaster of rowanfootballgivesmewood.com should have a better handle on resonable interaction than cryin' about referees. IC got screwed time and again by the refs yesterday, but got it done against the #1 team in the region. Stop being jealous because Rowan isn't featured on Around the East every week any more; that was sweet justice when y'all were bitching about that earlier this month. When IC wins the jug, you all can come over to the E8 board to talk about playoff teams if you want.

PS- bye bye karma, we've had some laughs....
PPS- kudos to joseq on the url

+K that's great MAX... I stopped reading after that statement too.  Is it really necessary to write a Frank Rossi-esque 7 page response to complain about the refs?

I am ready for the fallout too!

HawksNation,

As a Fan, the TCNJ win in 2 OT'S was sweet, but not as sweet as beating Rowan on their turf and watching the Team take the NJAC. DiGeralamo was awsome, too bad he did not like to go to classes. A real shame.  I'm glad Coach G cleaned house, but we have to do something with the O. I noticed some changes and I hope they don't revert to our weakness, but work on what we can possibly do good.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Upstate...I agree...the only time a son might get "called out" is if the coach is paying attention to the boards...not a  chance with IC...or the Dad is making statements that turn his opinions into something more than that...opinions....

Let the boys play the game......and enjoy the ride.....man it goes by way too fast!

Back to the E8 board...and on to Alfred....
"We bust ours so we can beat yours..."
