JT-sure signs of a man getting old:

1.  Your primary care provider orders several tests that require some body invasions and certain blood tests.

2.  You stop enjoying grass cutting, pulling weeds, taking care of the health of the lawn and begin enjoying cooking, keeping the refrigerator organized, cupards organized and preparing lunches for your spouse and youself several days in advance.

3.  When food shopping you start looking at the content of carbs and fat.  Jello with fresh fruit for lunches can be made on Sunday for 2 people  for 5 days can be prepared on Sunday at half time.  Save all containers that can handle one pack of Jello with some fresh fruit.

4. Every payday you purchase your wife or new bride cut flowers and have them on the table when she comes home from work after you prepare dinner.  Shopright has several ways to prepare dinner.

Tomorrow I wil post the rest of getting old as a prof.

Have kept pretty quiet this week, but only one word can describe last weeks game verse MSU...DISGUSTING!!!

The season comes down to Friday, and championship caliber teams, regardless if they hit a few bumps in the road have to step up to the challenge.  It is terrible for the seniors, that this year will be remembered the way they will, however destiny is calling for them at this point.

It has been a long time since the Prof's have had to compete for the NJAC, on their home turf as under-dogs.  We'll see Saturday if the Prof's are pretenders, or contenders.

The one positive thing for the Prof's last week was they finally completed a few passes that were longer than 2 yards, but their running game was largely uneffective.  The young WR's are still dropping a lot of balls.

If we can continue to throw the ball effectively, we might have a chance, otherwise Prof fans can get ready for Basketball season!

GOOD LUCK PROF'S... Step up and represent the 'boro!

Dr. xGSC

4merprof,
The season comes down to Saturday, not Friday.

PS. By the way.....thanks for keeping quiet.
LONG LIVE THE BORO!

If you do ANYTHING, give it your EVERYTHING!

JT

Almost forgot DB coach Ron Gibson and OL coach Brian Wright are part of the "Transfer U" generation too.  Not too shabby.

Have been a Prof's fan for a long time.  Been to the five Stagg Bowls that we didn't win.  Was at Mt. Union when we Ended the Streak.  Last year did Union, Del Valley and then Mt. Union.

Been through Wacker, Bunting, Keeler and now Jay.

GSC/Rowan has been the "Beast of the East" for many years.

When Rowan lost out West in 2004, I was getting married after 11 years of being divorced.  Being a divorced father (WITH 3 DAUGHTERS) in December sucks.  For many years the GSC/Rowan f-ball team got me out of depression while deep into December with playoff runs.  For that I will be forever grateful.

At my new wife's to be first Rowan game she wanted to know if the ref's could take away any of our points.  She alsowanted to know if Jay had the players in the right positions.

At homecoming two weeks ago two of my daughters came to the parade and my grand daughter (3 years old) also so came.  My wife, daughters, and two of their friends left at half time because of long lines at the women's rest rooms.

I ended up sitting bedhind a guy (and a wife and daughter) who's son was a freshman and a starter on the offensive line.

I talked alot about the History of GSC/Rowan football and their oustanding progam, Stagg Bowls and the Beast of the East titles.

After 3 1/2 quarters he told me his son had several D-#3 colleges recruiting him.  He told me he and his wife chose Rowan because the coaches stressed grades, going to class, and graduation.  The history of outstanding football teams was not the deciding factor to chose Rowan.

He then stated maybe the Prof's supporters were spoiled with all the success on the field. I think we forget what is really important about the college experience for young men.

I missed the Montclair game.  I was babysitting my 3 year old grand daughter and listening to the game by radio.

I pray ever night for the Stye brothers and that they both come back  to Rowan after serving their time in the Marines.

This Saturday I will be at the Cortland game.  The  Prof's may win or the Profs may lose.  To me, bad mouthing refs, coaches or players is a from of unsportmans like conduct.

I officiated three sports for 20+ years.   Knees got worn out and replaced. You would be supprised at how many coaches and refs are in the bleachers or blogs making the calls and coaching.

Several years ago, I read in a newspaper in Alliance that referred to Rowan as Transfer U.  Rowan back then had an image of DI transfers, players with questionable character and other not so nice attributes.  But they got to the Stagg Bowl 5 times.

The day after I read the newspaper article we "broke the streak" and defeated Mt. Union.  Several of the Mount Union fans wished us well and good luck in Salem.

Last year's run into the playoffs, beating two udefeated teams on the road with injuries to key players was the proudest I ever was of a GSC/Rowan football team.

When Rowan lost to Mt. Union last year, the head coach made it a point to shake the hands of the Rowan's defensive unit.

I read somewhere last year that the head coach at Mount Union stated his graduation rate was higher than his winning percentage and that was what he was most proud of.

In my opinion "the program" at Rowan is in much better shape then it ever has been.  I would rather have the type of student athlete that presently comes into the program then to go back to Tranfer U mentality.

Rowan has been and continues to be one of the "top shelf" D3 football programs in the country. I am proud of them.
Great post. For the most part most of the "transfer U" guys were great guys too. Defensive coordinator Mark Hendricks was one of them.

I love these guys, but they better stop calling me sir.  I still answer to dude.  Am I that old  ;)

Each Prof player has a limited time to play the game.  I think the pursuit of excellence helps a player off the field too.  I was never more proud of team than that one that walked off the field against Mount Union last year.  They left everything on the field.

I may analyze the game, but I'll never pick on specific players. Maybe the loss to Montclair was a blessing in disguise.  Historically, the Profs answer a call to arms. I'm looking forward to Saturday.  I hope the weather is good.  May the better team win.

Amazing how fast Rowan guys gain perspective after a loss. You guys should compile a letter to Dear Abby, to remind all DIII fans how they've lost their way. To quote the Simpsons, "This is indeed a disturbing universe."

Or we could stop the touchy-feely "may the better team win" BS, and start trying to figure out who the better team is for the purposes of discussion on this football discussion board. I, for one, would like to suggest that it is Cortland.

Dr. X-GSC,

You must have really earned that designation as a doctor to hang on a day.  I'm sure that you got the jist of my last post, and in respect to your nice little dig about keeping quiet.  If you don't like my opinions or views for this seasons Prof's, you can simply choose not to read them.  I am truely disgusted with this years team, however the reason is not a selfish one, as I feel bad for the players.  They have a tremendous amount of pressure to play at a top caliber, and it seems that the play calling has been suspect at best, and not putting our athletes in the position to win.  However, that is my opinion.  I know your view is a very PC one and that everything is okay in Prof land.  Another question I have about the special teams is the extra points and field goals, or lack there of.  I have no idea how we can be that bad at that facet of the game.  I don't care if the MSU qb fumbled or not, the game shouldn't have been that close.  But hats off to MSU, they figured a way to win, just like the Prof teams of old.  Last week it looked like we figured a way to lose.

Maxpower,

Great screen name by the way, I guess Hulk Hogan and Superman were already taken.  Until Cortland beats RU in the boro', they haven't  proven anything in my eyes.  Although this years team has had a tough time of it, you still have to come to the boro' on Saturday (THANKS GSC) and prove you're better.  I'm not one for kissing and hugging and skirting the issues.  If Cortland wins, they're better, and vice versa.  I believe that the Seniors on this team will step up and get the job done.  It's now or never.

GO PROF's!!!

Is that an insult? Superman is already taken, by a Fisher fan. I guess I don't get your insult. What does Max Power have to do with Hollywood or Clark Kent? I really just don't get your insult.

Both teams are pretty weird to analyze. Rowan has looked solid this year, but then the MSU game. Cortland has looked unbeatable, but that Brockport game was closer than it should have been...

Rowan and Cortland have put up similar numbers against conference opponents. I have to admit, as an IC fan I know much more about Cortland... is their backup QB still the man for this weekend? I do know that who is QBing for Cortland shouldn't be too big an issue... how many points the DRAGONS will score is not usually what opposing teams (me n' IC) are worried about.

I'll be in the Cortland stands on Satu(e)rday, with a big ITHACA on my sweatshirt. That oughtta get me some looks. But a Cortland win makes IC's playoff hopes even better, and that comes first and foremost. As soon as the final whistle blows, though, it's Cortaca week.

cstate19

you will get even more looks if you are openly cheering for cortland in your ithaca sweatshirt........+k is coming your way if you do

maxpower

I'll be rooting for CState.... but probably rather subtley. (sp?)

Dr. xGSC

4merprof,

Thanks for decreasing my karma by -1. I hope you feel better now. Are you the person who sits in the RU stands with a clipboard, paper and pen, and then writes stuff down as if you were scouting a game?

As for pressure.....what do you know about pressure as it relates to a football player? Until you experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat; save us all the trouble with your rhetoric and go sharpen your #2.

As for being PC: Yep, I am. I played on that field, dressed in that locker room, lifted countless weights in what is now the Coach Accorsi's office, and it was THE BEST 4 YEARS OF MY LIFE. I have many lifelong friends as a result of those 4 years, and have many more while watching GSC/RU players over the past 20+ years.

I have witnessed struggles on offense and defense during regular season, post-season and Stagg Bowl appearances. But regardless, I'll continue to support this program and what it is they strive for.

Since you seem to know so much about the game, why don't you apply for a coaching position. The pay ain't great but I am sure with your genius ability to see all that is wrong with the RU program, that you will gain much more in personal pleasure than with what money can give you.

PS. I hear the dollar store has clipboards at 2 for a $1. Better hurry on over and get yours.
LONG LIVE THE BORO!

Most of us already have stated Cortland will be favored.  I think us touchy-feely Rowan fans have already figured that out. The basics:

A. Cortland has the better offense
B. Defense edge to Rowan
C. Special teams slight edge Cortland

The big question mark will be the number of sustained offensive drives Rowan has.  The Profs have to win the field position battle.  They don't have to score a lot, but they have to move the football.  Rowan began throwing the ball effectively at Montclair. Can they build upon that this week? If the Prof defense is defending a short field too often, then Cortland will have a big advantage.

Cortland has the number pass defense in the NJAC.

I'm a little worried about the Cortland pass rush. They have 38 total sacks and Rowan has 34. On the flip side Cortland has allowed 11 sacks, while Rowan has allowed 16.

Rowan has the number one rushing defense and Cortland like to mix pass and run. Should be an interesting battle.  FS - Eric Bailey saw limited action last Saturday due to a stinger.  The junior is a three year starter.  He is one of the keys to the pass defense.  He is listed on the two deep for this week.  Hopefully he is reasonably healthy come game time.

Dr. GSC,

I was not one the to nick your karma, as I am not one to even worry about that, howver I have seen my karma deminish today as well, so I guess I owe that honor to you and maxpower.

As a fan, I thought that you were allowed to analyze your team and do "armchair QBing and coaching"?  I guess when I finish my doctorate, I will be able to be as PC as you.

In respect to feeling the pressure, I did not play at the collegiate level, however I did play in High School, I know there is a difference, however I would love to show you where to stick your #2.  You talk a very good game and your pride for the Prof team is admirable, but I have just simply stated the obivous in my posts this season.  I think that possibly you didn't play with your helmet on at GSC, if you can't see what type of problems we've had.  I too, have been following the Prof's for 20 plus years, and to not realize that there have been either coaching deficiencies or lack of recruiting efforts, which have been completely apparent this year.  The defense looked awesome all year and last week I thought that they looked average at best, and special teams and the offense have looked terrible all year.  Spite my Karma if you wish again, but this is FACT.  I don't think you need binoculars and a clip board to notice this.

As for your "I have witnessed struggles on offense and defense during regular season, post-season and Stagg Bowl appearances. But regardless, I'll continue to support this program and what it is they strive for"... What do they strive for... to get out coached and out played and lose to MSU, and squeak by the NJAC all season, then face C-state this SATURDAY for their last shot at a respectable season, Rowan wise.  This program does not strive for a NJAC championship, we've had that numerous times over the past 20 years... What we strive for is the Walnut and Bronze.  Maybe you forgot about that all season long when you repeatedly said that the offense would finally "click" and we would be okay.  How has that worked out for you?  We haven't been okay, and we're still not okay.  If you consistently do what you've done, you're going to get what you've had.  We are now possibly looking at a two more game season, because it is people like you, that didn't think anything was wrong from day one, and that everything was going to be okay.  I knew after the Robert Morris and West Conn. game that this ship was headed to the proverbial iceberg, and guess what we've found it.

Now we have one last shot this week, and if it was up to you, and your PC'ness and cowarding prowess to ever saying anything negative, or you might lose your status of a GSC football god that lifted weight's in Acorsi's office, we would run the same offensive plays and then lose to C-State, but we would shake hands and walk off the field proud, because we are Rowan.

THAT is bull$hit.  That is not what ROWAN FOOTBALL is about.  We are supposed to be dominate and kicka$$.  I'm tired of everyone sugar coating this season and making excuses.  NO MORE EXCUSES go out and play old school Rowan football.

Where is Rowan LB when I need him???

4mer,

I've been reading it.

The bottom line is, we are all very passionate about our prof football team.  Some of us are more vocal than others, and some are more critical than others.  Like you 4mer I often find myself being a bit more critical.  I happend to have played during the bunting era.  I truely believe that it was those years that took a solid program to a D3 powerhouse.  I also believe that if Bunting never left, that Rowan would have been a dominate as Mount Union over the 15 years.  But that is simply my opinion.  For me it is both as a fan as it is personal to me to see the Profs win the National Championship.  I feel like I played during the time that helped surge the program to its prominant hieghts.  When the Profs finally take one home I will feel that I was a small piece of that puzzle.

As far as Dr.X goes, I have nothing but respect for the man, He is a good person, father, friend, business man and fan of Prof football.  Though he is a little PC ;D.   I'd rather see the prof fans bitch slapp fans from teams.
