In regards to the "top performers", you do realize that he covers those teams in the ATR due to the ACFC (or whatever it is)....

Maybe that was missed due to the Rowan Lovefest articles from the years before...

He doest stick to one team and oogle over them every week...

I find it nice to actually read up on other teams instead of reading about one team or one conference week in and week out....

I know how hard it is to please everyone and I fully support budcrew's efforts.  But the perception that I over featured Rowan... meaning top headline, is more myth than reality. In 31 ATR East articles written over a three year period, Rowan was featured four times (13%) including zero times in 2003 when Rowan was 7-3 and missed the playoffs.  35% of the time other teams were featured. 52% of the time multiple teams/conferences were featured. Most of my columns were multi featured with different teams and conferences.  Of those columns with a main featured team in the top headline:

2003

1 – NJAC (not Rowan)

1 – E8

1 – ACFC

1 - LL

2004

1 – ACFC

1 – NJAC

1 – E8

1 – Rowan

2005

1 – ACFC

1 – NJAC (not Rowan)

1 – LL

3- Rowan

Now many Rowan matchups have been included outside of the headline/main topic (conference changes, upsets, rivalries) but I did the same for every conference I covered.  I usually looked for reasons to not include Rowan matchups (clear blowouts, non-important games).  Was I perfect, no... but I really worked hard to cover important games in the region.  I listened to, and solicited advice.  I answered fans and haters emails with equal respect.  I wanted to improve, and I think I did.

Doing the ATR has made me a bigger fan of the East region in general.  I still read news and follow it closely.  To tarnish my previous efforts every time a Prof fan complains about Adam is unfair. Had there been student/alumni volunteers assisting me with rowanfootball.com, I'd have gone to at least three non-Rowan games per year.  But when you've spent the time, money and effort to give life to a site such as rowanfootball.com, you can't let it slip. Especially when certain Rowan administrators have tried to make me go away.  I will go to other non-Rowan games in the future when I can find help with my site.

Adam will make his peace with his detractors just like I did.  Crapping on me in the meantime solves nothing.

This is just...

I just...

Seriously?

I can't even form the words.

I suppose this begs the question, is it hard to type with your fingers crossed?

Rolevio, I only have a precious amount of time in my day to waste on a post like the one I did above.

I tried to keep it East of Seneca County, how's that?

labart96

Speaking of the Seneca, here's an article on the upcoming Bart-Rowan game from the Finger Lakes Times:

Seriously?

I can't even form the words.

I suppose this begs the question, is it hard to type with your fingers crossed?

First, I let all of the comments this year about my ATR efforts go until this point.  I defended Adam at one prior point in the season to NJAC posters (email him with help and suggestions instead of complaining).

Secondly, I never comment on his ATR.  Its not a classy thing to do.

Third, perception often masquerades as fact on post patterns.

I put a lot of effort into the ATR during my time.  I solicited and listened to advice.  I took it seriously and really enjoyed it.  I tried hard to fair.

jose,

What would you do if someone assailed your character after you spent three years and at least 100+ hours writing for love of the game?

You are lawyer.  Wouldn't you a least defend yourself with some facts?

I'm a fan too, and I realize that you may still harbor ill feelings toward me for my ref outburst a few weeks ago.  Usually I get crap for being too PC, and not being "enough of a Rowan fan"... whatever that means.

I got plenty of good and hater email during my run.  I also read and responded to PP issues.

Now its Adam's run.  Why even bring me up?  Besides Adam is a columnist, not a reporter.  He doesn't have to write anything he doesn't want to. There are no set rules laid out by Pat.

You're boggling my mind!  Why do you feel a need to respond to these guys.  They obviously don't have any favorable feelings for RU and/or you.

Let them think what they want.  Remember, sticks and stones may break my bones, etc. etc. etc.  You're only feeding their bias (and egos) by responding.

Does it matter to anybody what they think?  I think not! :)

Yes because without volunteers, d3football.com would not exist.  I don't want my work compartmentalized by a few off handed comments on post patterns like I was some kind of shill for Rowan.  It wasn't just a 5 minute post.  It was reading hundreds of news articles and releases, monitoring PP and reading other ATR's for ideas, talking to SID's and coaches, writing/editing stories, and taking pictures.

When I did the ATR, I responded to suggestions and complaints. I incorporated changes into my writing.  If somebody still had a problem, they should have told me at the time.

Keep treating people this way and there won't be any writers or coverage.

I don't know about Upstate but this is not the first time I have raised this contention.  And I also remember it being discussed on the LL page.

In fact, I remember a protracted debate Pat and I had about this very topic on these boards.  His position, as I remember it, was not that you overcovered Rowan but, instead, that Rowan deserved the added coverage because they were the best team in the East.  My counterargument was that Rowan was the best team in the East but did not deserve the amount of space they got every week given the size of the Region.

I will save you the time of further response and agree in advance that you disagree with the amount of space Rowan occupied in your column but I think it is disingenuous to say this critique is coming out of leftfield.

And now the pendulum has swung the other way, I guess.  Big games/rival games got ink. I really don't know what you expected me to do.  Rowan 7-3 in 2003, no playoffs equals less ink.  2004 and 2005 NJAC and East Region champs... a little more ink.  But I spent time on all the big and little games (Shoes, Cortaca jug, etc.) important battles (including Ithaca).

I even addressed beefs from the Coast Guard and Norwich to the emailers satisfaction.  But I don't recall ever getting an email from you.  I'll be a fan of which ever team comes out of the East.

I already I said that I tried to take Rowan out of the ATR when I could.  Maybe I could have done a little better.  But think about the opponent playing Rowan, they deserved the ink too.  Teams like West Conn, TCNJ, Montclair and WPU can and have taken down the Profs.  Isn't that news?  Or would you have bitched at me if I left out or minimized WPU's upset of Rowan in 2005?

Regardless, you are predisposed to find fault with anyone who doesn't kowtow to your way of thinking.

But JT, we're just so damn smart and attractive, us Ithaca fans! Hell, all the Cortland fans left the Chugger halfway through the 2004 Jug because their eyes just couldn't take the glow coming off the other bleachers!

BTW, were you still writing ATR when you posted this?:

Isnt it funny that the Rowan posters didnt see a problem with their teams coverage, while the posters of other East Region teams at the time did....
