John,

Thanks for your comments. I hope we can get some more before July 4th.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kean contends for the crown (read: finishes 8-2 with loses to Rowan and one other team).  They seem to be headed in the right direction and this may be the ideal year to do it if Cortland needs to rebuild.

Btw Montclair isn't playing Salisbury this year.

This Memorial Day we should all remember it is not about the parties and sales.  It is to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their friends, family and country.  Take some time this year and attend your towns observations.  Take some time out if you are with family and friends to remember these young men and women.  If you see the men and women of the VFW and their Auxilaries giving out poppies, take one and give a small donation if you can, wear it to remember.  Look up the poem "On Flanders Fields" and you will understand the poppy.

Yesterday the town of Secaucus had the first of their two memorial day ceremonies.  The Thursday before Memorial day is in a park and they have hot dogs, an Uncle Sam impersonater for the kids, the elementary school choir and the Boy Scouts present the colors.  It is very nice.  Memorial Day the  VFW and American Legion run the show.

The ceremony was very touching and dedicated to a young Marine from town who just gave his life for his country in April.  The mayor announced that the town will continue it's tradition of naming public roads and parks after soldiers and sailors who have paid the ultimate price by renaming a small park in town after Miguel Maricial III.  A mother who sat strongly and quietly through it all broke down finally.

After the ceremony I had the duty to approach the family and offer my thanks and condolences.

This is what this weekend is about.  A ceremony like this really hammers home what the holiday is all about.

Gordon,

I don't understand your post. Kean may compete, but what does 8-2 mean?
Also Montcair plays Salisbury this year.

Stalker,

Well Said !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When Brockport was added to the league Montclair couldn't play Salisbury in 2008 anymore. Salisbury didn't want a one-year contract and chose to hook up with ... someone else here, not sure.

But Gordon is correct. Montclair and Salisbury are not playing.

Pat,

Thanks for the correction. Did this happen within the past week or so?

There are some interesting open dates on Sept 22nd. Widner, Kings and Wesley. Let's see what the Red Hawks do. Do you have any insight ? Thanks.

Dave:

The Montclair-Salisbury change happened relatively recently, within the past two months or so.

Widener is out for September 22.  They have that date open because they are traveling to Rowan the night before for a Friday tilt.

King's is out because they already have 10 games.  They aren't allowed to play 11 in the regular season.

Wesley has 9 games on their schedule, but plays a 10th against George Mason.  We don't track games against club teams so that doesn't appear on our site.  I'm not sure whether the George Mason massacre counts against their 10-game maximum or not.

It's going to be very tough to fill out the 10-game schedule at this point.  It's an unfortunate product of all the schedule shifts (NJAC adding Brockport and Morrsville, MAC losing three teams, etc), espectially as teams look for multi-year deals.

On Kean, I think they'll contend for the NJAC title and an NCAA playoff spot  I could see them going 8-2, 7-3 next year with loses to Rowan, Montclair and maybe one other team.  But I think they are a program on the rise.

rams1102

Gordon,

Thanks for the info. Not really great news. Looks like it's 9 games again. Would Wesley consider droping the club game to play us or would Montclair figure opening with Wilkes and Springfield shy away from Wesley ?

As Gordon notes, it's not that new.

I wonder if Wesley even knows that date opened up

Pa Wesleyfan,

Would be interesting if Wesley were looking for a one game deal. With Morrisville and B-Port coming to the NJAC next year that means only one out of conference for the NJAC teams. I would think MSU has a home and home with Wilkes and will most likely conclude the home and home with Springfield this year. I would love to see our Red Hawks play Wesley, it would be a great game in either your place or Sam Mills Field. Sat in the Wesley stands for 2 years before my daughter transfered to MSU. Have they expanded the seating?

That depends on when she was there. They rebuilt the whole stadium from the next turf up. And they added seating all around.
Did they ever change that astro turf up there?
I rememeber a lot of the Wesley players getting terrible turf burns and infections from them. My som played against Sam Jr.

Asfor your original question. I can't say for sure about a one year deal but at least they would know up front... They lost the Waynesburg game due to thioer conference expantion this year

Pa Weskeyfan,

My daughter was friends with Visconti, and pretty close to Butch. I still remember the game at B-Port where we were winning at half and lost at the end. Tough ride home. I think I met you and your son. I went to a Rowan game(down in Vineland on Business) in late Oct and you guys were getting blown out at half and came back, with first and goal with seconds left and Tosh stuffed the kid from Florida who had well over 200 yards.

Montclair got new field turf last year. Real nice.
