it does sounds like an end to a good rivalry....i wonder who will fill the slot for cnu?  oh well...that's next year stuff....

cnu needs to pull off one "w" against Rowan!!!!

The bagpiper left after his junior year. I could be wrong, CNU might stay.  Widener and Rowan have been trying to hook up for years.  With teams exiting the MAC, MAC teams need more out-of-conference games.  We'll see what happens.

...I'd be happy to show you a little southern hospitality should Rowan ever schedule U of Houston!!!!

On another note, I can't believe Rutgers has basically sold out all their home games for the year. I'm looking up into the Texas sky to find the flying pigs!!!

I picked up 4 season tickets in the endzone near the student section in December.  I should be receiving the tix in week or so.  They are sold out because I got a postcard from Rutgers to "Tell my friends to get on the mailing list"

Never thought it would happen.  My Dad and I are not believers in seat licenses, and we think that Woody is going to do that.  We will drop the Jets tix that we've had since 1983.  Rutgers is a decent replacement, along with the NFL package.  I'm not paying $5,000 per seat just for the priviledge of buying tix I've had for 25 years.

Funny thing is that the 2007 Rowan/Rutgers schedules are quite compatible.

JT,

Do you know when the NJAC media day will be held? Thanks.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Phil,

Glad to hear you are doing OK. Sorry to hear about your friend. I liked you better when you were a pot-stirrer. ;) I'll be playing Wild Turkey at the end of September for an association scramble. We could sure use a ringer in our foursome. You got me thinking about harassing Susan Cole about Sam Mills Field. Nothing like agravating a few liberals. ;D Enjoy the balance of your summer and shoot me an e-mail if you can make it up during the season. It's time to de-throne Dr.xGSC this year.

Stalker,

Thanks for the link. I would like to know the order of finish. Maybe it will be on the NJAC site soon.

Funny story about Mike Lajterman. I was at the opening scrimage last year. I found out that he could not play last year and wanted to play this year. He is touted as a talented kid. So anyway I walk up to the kid and introduce myself. I said I played soccer at Davis and Elkins College with an Abe Lajterman and remember his brother was a victim of the Marshall plane crash. He was a kicker. Mike said , you played with my Uncle Abe. I'm glad to see that he did not disappear during the year. I think he played D2 and was a heck of a punter. I'm sure he can also do field goals. Something to look forward to this year. Hopefully I'll get to see Abe.

1. Rowan (5)
2. Cortland (3)
3. Kean (darkhorse)
4. Montclair
5. West Conn
6. Buff St
7. TCNJ
8. William Paterson

Buff St, Cortland, and West Conn were no shows.  Last year only Cortland was a no-show.

John McGraw

Cortland usually doesn't travel to media day just because it's such a far jaunt, and I'd assume the same for Buffalo State.

I'm guessing the Cortland coaches were available on phone link-up on a conference call?

They were available by phone individually.  I'm not really good at writing fast and I don't know shorthand.  Next year, I'll bring my bluetooth so I can sit and ask questions hands free.  I don't know how many calls they received from the NJ/PA media.

Media day is important.  I'd like to think we can figure out a way to get them all in a room for a couple hours.  Perhaps their local media can go with them.  It seems that the NY and CT media were absent.

JT,

Thanks for your comments today.

I really feel that football is not taken as serious in the NJAC as it is around D3. Keep in mind that the NJAC has always been tough, but Cortland really is part of the NY Region. This is no dis-respect to Cortland. Now when you look at the NJAC it's Rowan and Montclair. Now in the media day Montclair is picked 4th. Kean moved up. It doesn't matter who is 3 or who is 4th, but most important is who is 1 & 2. We beat you guys last year. Does that mean we are better then Rowan. The answer is No. You have to earn that. The same goes for Cortland. Montclair and Kean must prove we can be contenters.  I know little about Kean, but Montclair can be a contender if they want to be one. Let's see how they do. It's all about wanting it bad !!!

The MSU season preview was not impressive. No talk about incoming Fros or Transfers. That's typical, but let's see how everything plays out. I'm ready for another season, I hope the team is. It's time to play Red Hawk Football.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a problem with any of the three schools not showing up at media day. It's a long trip just to sit around for X amount of hours and get asked maybe one or two questions from writers that might not even know where the school is located. That's not a slam on the local writers, but they're more interested in the New Jersey schools and probably don't care too much, if at all, about the three out-of-staters.

Having covered Cortland football for a couple years, the locals don't get real excited about William Paterson, Kean, TCNJ etc etc coming up to the stadium. Usually it's a question of who? Where's that? and/or it's pronounced "Kane" not "Keen." Even Rowan to a certain extent can be counted among that group though I think over the last few years there has been more of a Cortland-Rowan rivalry (completely one-sided in terms of wins).

I can't speak for the Buffalo and Western CT fans or media, but I'd guess it would be a lot of same thing.

Somehow we need to figure out how to make it a complete conference event. I know distances make it difficult, but they did join the NJAC.

Stopped by to see Coach G (MSU) at the end of July, he was cautiously optimitic, with one of the toughest schedules in DIII it could be a rough year. He did say he had some transfers coming in. He mentioned a speedy WR from a DI, admissions was working to get him in. If he gets in he should stretch the field.
Is Kean really that good?

We should have beaten Kean last year but we didn't. For some reason the past few years we have trouble playing for 60 minutes. You have to keep the kids focused. I think there is a lot of talent there and if the coaches stay on the kids, there could be a lot of surprises this year. The rivelry with Kean has grown since Coach C left MSU for Kean and Garrett a deciple of Coach G is doing a real good job. I still can't figure why we did not go to the ECAC's last year, but that's in the past. Last year we get smoked by Cortland and then we beat Rowan in OT. If we want it bad enough and play for 60 minutes we could maybe go 8-2 and thats with the toughest schedule in the country. We could also go 5-5.
We'll start to see in about 30 days.
