Team D3football.com is getting ready to hit the road for the Kean/Merchant Marine game tonight.

If Kean is going to challenge Rowan for the championship this season, then they will roll over Merchant Marine.  A close game would not be encouraging for them.  Watch their offensive line.  In the past they have had a tough time protecting Roque.  If the current unit allows Roque to drop back and survey the field, Kean is going to put up a lot of points.

Is Kean that good or is the competition not up to par? I took MM +14.4, shows you what I know. :)
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Rams, I think Kean just may be that good this season.

By the looks of their schedule they should be 4-0 and maybe break the top 25. Then they have Cortland, MSU and Rowan. Then we will see. Going to the Lackawana scrimage today. Should get a good idea of how my Red Hawks will look this year.

I wanted to make the Kean game last night but instead I decided it was time to catch my annual end of summer cold instead.  Figures, this looks like the best weekend of the summer, especially with football starting up.

Here we go... 67-yard reverse by Davon Edwards 7-0 Profs, early first qtr

37 yd fg CNU 7-3 early 2nd

Friggin USAC refs, bad pass interference call keeps drive going for CNU.  TD CNU 10-7  I certainly won't miss these homer refs next year.

25 yard TD pass to Devon Edwards after an interception 14-10 Rowan midway 2nd qtr. Profs two minute drill... driving...  Katcher drops 35 yd+ TD pass from Rankin with a few ticks left.... Halftime 14-10.

Profs continue where they left off at halftime.  Stop CNU offense to start the 2nd half.  Go on a drive ending in a 22-yd FG 17-10 Rowan 10 minutes left in the 3rd.

CNU drive stopped in Rowan territory... good punt puts Rowan O inside the 10 yd line.  Rowan gains virtually no yardage.  Good punt to the Rowan 40.  CNU drives and kicks a 20+ yard FG 17-13 4 minutes 3rd qtr.

Rankin throws an INT.  CNU starts at Rowan 15.  Interference Rowan.  Rowan stuffs CNU inside the 5.  CNU kicks 23 yard FG 17-16 Rowan late 3rd.

Rankin fumbles at the CNU 30.  CNU returns it to around Rowan 35.  Mostly run a pass or two. Ogun the DI transfer runs it in from the 4.  Two pt conv fails. 23-17 CNU.

Two minutes left.

Rowan starts at their 31.

Rankin sacked 3 and long. TO Profs.

1st down catch by Mark Lisa. 1:24 left.

Rankin hit as he throws.  Intercepted.

Rowan gets the ball back at the Rowan 35.  :20 seconds left.

Rankin intercepted on third pass.  CNU wins 23-17.

thanks for the Rowan updates JT......keep em coming

Very competative game.  Lot of good plays and tough defense on both sides.

For Rowan, oline needs to give Rankin more time.  Poor game for them.  Some bad snaps.  Bad decisions by Rankin a few times.  Rowan has to improve at the CB position.  One guy gave up a couple of big plays, then CNU started picking on him.

If Rankin had a little more time, he had open receivers.  Rowan could have put the game away.  That fumble on the CNU 30 was the killer.

Profs need to regroup in two weeks for Wilkes.  Talent is there.  Team needs to gel.

1st opening day loss for Rowan since 1989.

Paterson upsets Wilkes 17-16.  Second time in three years WPUNJ beats Wilkes.

JT,

That was a game between 2 very equal teams....wow what a game!!

oh...CNU didn't miss a 2 pt conversion....the dummies got so excited about the last TD and a 5 pt lead, that they kicked a PAT to go up by 6.....i think the emotion and excitement caused that decision. They should have gone for 2.....

the good news for the Profs - it was an out of region game.....even better news....they are one heck of a good team!

Finally - If Orihel was behind center today...RU wins.

DP just posted his thoughts on the LL board after watching the Cortland-Hobart scrimmage.

The Cortland defense looks tough again.  A lot of talent graduated, but the kids stepping in have a lot of game experience.  Hobart couldn't get a run game going.

The Pumpkins Heads brought a good defense too.  They gave up a few scores to Cortland, but they did a nice job pressuring Smith and causing a few turnovers.  Cortland needs to cut down on the offensive line penalties.  A lot of holding and false starts.  To be expected considering how green they are...but they need to do better than that starting next week.

Hit of the day - tailback Dustin Bowser laid out, and I mean LAID OUT a Statesman Defensive Lineman.
