Phil,

You guys may be the real deal. Waz-up with the O. Congratulations !!!

Listening to the Montclair - Rowan game. Seems like nobody wants to win, but I'll still take a W in Glassboro any day. We're up by 2 with about 10 minutes left and Montclair score on a 45 yard TD. 21-12 with 10 minutes to go. We need to keep pounding.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

rams1102

Way to go Red Hawks, rough the passer, then a Prof TD.  21-19.

Tosh returns the dumb favor for for the Prof's.

Time for a Montclair first down. We get it done. Jump to Seville to the Prof 19.

It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

rams1102

Time to run off some time and get-r-done.

Montclair first down to the Prof 4. Keep killing the clock.

Montclair TD, Jump to Mercer. 28-19 with just under 4 minutes to go.

Time to finish up smart. No bone head plays.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Congratulations to New Jersey.  Looks like the NJAC championship is pretty much a wrap.

Another Montclair bone-head. Prof field goal. Down by 6 with 1:22 left.

Here comes the on-side kick. Montclair ball. Should be a done deal.

Shades of the Wesley game. 2nd 12. Off sides Profs. :50 left with 2nd and 16. Bliss short gain. Should be all over. :14 left. Game Over !!!

Montclair - 28      Rowan - 22

What a beating !.... I have seen 4 TCNJ games, they are improving every week... going into the season , i knew the d- was be good, but the offense  was questionable....they have developed a couple running backs & recvrs. The qb is good, so are the special teams. The defense is very good. Cortlands biggest play today ended w/ them fumbling inside the Lions 15 early in the 1st quarter,... outside of that they didn't come close to scoring.., actually from point on they got slapped around..they took a huge beating , the score could have been in the 50's.... one more conference win & it's back to the playoffs....good for them, they deserve it ....this is a good group, an overachieving group, hard workers, very focused , well coached...

Phil -

You are missing a helluva show buddy.  Your boys are the real deal in 2007.  No excuse from this Cortland fan. TCNJ's defense is every bit as good as Rowan 2006 and Cortland 2006.  They really took it to our boys today, and we just didn't stand up to it.

TCNJ is clearly the class of the NJAC in 2007.  Who would have thunk it?  Obviously nobody, when you look at the preseason predictions.  I'm a bit worried about their offense however.  It's easy to run an offense when you are sitting on a team which can't score themselves.  You mentioned concern last week about TCNJ playing from behind, and I'm a little concerned too.  What happens if they fall behind early to a Fisher, Alfred or RPI?

James is developing.  He has great athleticism and speed.  His accuracy is still coming along, but he has a cannon of an arm.

By the way, I know Cortland fans are going to look at the passing stats and blame Miles.  Yes, he made a few mistakes throwing balls up for grabs on the sidelines.  But for the most part, he had no chance to throw.  TCNJ was in his face as soon as he received the snap.  The protection was terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE.  And it wasn't just the offensive line to blame.  Backs weren't picking up the blitz.  Receivers weren't breaking off routes to help Miles.

Congrats to the TCNJ fans and team.  You've gotta be thinking "Coach of the Year in D3" as well as playoffs now.

Cortland - keep your heads up.  You've got two huge rivals back-to-back, in Rowan and Ithaca.  Not much was expected after we lost so many players to graduation, but you were the runner-up in a very strong conference.  Stay proud.

This ex Red Dragon took the 2 hour ride to Jersey was was shocked.  TCNJ was the real deal.  They laid the wood for 60 minutes and earned what they got.  Cortland had some banged up kids but that might not have made any differences anyway.  They pounded the ball up the middle and then proceeded to slap us in the face when we had the ball.  They will be tough to stop down the road.
Tasted foul!

After the drought which has lasted since before the Millennium, I'll take an NJAC championship, victories over Cortland, Montclair and Rowan — and be satisfied with any playoff game despite the outcome. I just wish I didn't have to watch live stats from halfway across the country!

It's also nice to be an TCNJ fan and have a Montclair/Rowan game mean so little this late in the season. No knock against all the Red Hawk and Prof posters — but it's been a long time for Lion fans!

What a day. A TCNJ slobberknocker followed by dinner at an Italian restaurant in north Houston where the grandparents of the Italian owners make homemade pasta every morning. Live music by a couple right out of a David Lynch movie and clams flown in from the Adriatic every day. I could have been in Hoboken!!! Go Lions.

Sounds yummy Phil.  I had a hoagie in Trenton, then drove for 4 hours.   >:(

I've been watching the NJAC now for almost a decade, and this is the strangest outcome I could ever have imagined.  We'll see Rowan next week, and I am curious to see what they look like.

It seems to me that Kean got competitive in a hurry in the last few years and started to take recruits from Montclair.  WP a bit too.  And perhaps TCNJ is cutting into Rowan's recruiting base for a change.  The league is much more balanced than it used to be (very few 61-0 romps anymore).  It makes for fun Saturdays, and overall more interesting years.

My impression of the TCNJ vs. Rowan game was that I was seeing two of the best defenses in DIII.  I also thought that other teams better get on and beat Rowan or TCNJ before they get their offenses figured out. TCNJ did.  Rowan did not.

Could it be that the guys on the bench for TCNJ were better than the guys playing last year?  And TCNJ's front four is just plain filthy.  Good LB's.  Only weakness might be in the secondary.  Then again opposing QB's don't get a whole lot of time.  Best offensive move for TCNJ was eliminating the QB platoon and going with one guy in 2007.

Cortland_Football,

The Profs have been hit hard by injuries.  Leading rusher was lost at Kean to a dislocated hip.  Two or three olinemen have been injured. QB Hagerty went down with an ankle in the second half yesterday.  I don't know what to expect next week at Cortland.

The Profs have a good club that has a lot of young talent.  Inexperience shows in the secondary, Wr's, and QB.  Hagerty is known to be gym rat.  Give these freshman a full off season together to learn the college game.  A freshman rb came off the bench and ran well against Monclair.

hey all....Good win Red Hawks way to bounce back from last weeks loss against a very good Rowan team!!!

So if MSU wins big the final two weeks and Cortland looses to Rowan and Ithica, whats the chances? what has to happen for the Red Hawks to get a pool b bid? and are we in a position to get a pool c bid?

Im gonna say MSU needs this to get in the playoffs.....

-Ithaca beats Cortland and loses to Alfred
-Alfred loses to SJF bad
-RPI blows out Union
-Union beats Hobart
-Hartwick might have to lose to Springfield

Then you would have:

E8- SJF
LL- RPI
NJ- TCNJ

pool c teams would be....

E8
2 Loss Alfred team with bad losses to SJF and Hobart
2 Loss Hartwick team? if they beat SC
3 Loss Ithaca team out

LL
3 Loss Hobart team probably out
3 Loss Union team out

NJAC
MSU with the 2 losses

*Im assuming the MAC and NEFC only gets the one.....
*Maybe MSU has a better chance against a 2 loss Ithaca than a 2 loss Alfred?

JT,

Yeah I know what you mean about injuries.  That was us last season.

Are you making the trip up to Cortland Saturday?  If not I can set you up with some game photos like in 2005. Let me know what your plans are.
