phil,
wohs 3-7 this year, pulled one comeback upset of passaic valley, but very little talent....the qb ran for his life on every play , no running backs, no recvrs, boys soccer team was down also....a lot of problems in that school , lousy admin. ultra p-c, gang infiltration (yup thats right).... scores way down , in fact 7 newark high schools had higher sat scores then wohs last year, enough said ?

phil

Wow. Of course, I was there when there were two high schools... a totally different era. They day before the move to Texas I drove over to watch the WOHS playoff game only to see them get smoked. I think between WOHS and Mountain High School, you probably only had about four or five good football teams since Mountain High School came into existence in 1960 — and one of those years was 1960 (which was even before my time)!

can TCNJ bring the heat against the spread? Does anyone in the NJAC run an offense like RPI's? If they've already played against the spread, then the players should be able to adjust quickly. Likewise RPI plays Hobart each year and they are blitz crazy so they should be prepared for what's coming.

Rowan runs the spread.  Although they had a rookie QB, a soph WR, and two fresh WR.  They smoked Widener, Buff St, and West Conn, but had trouble with good defenses.  TCNJ had the best D I saw all year.  What RPI has to do is find the hot routes in the various blitz packages including zone blitzes.  King the DE is a beast and a AA candidate.  The tackles get a good push collapsing the pocket and the other DE is pretty good.  If the Dline isn't getting the TFL or sack, one of the LB's is cleaning up.

If RPI can move the ball into the red zone, it will be a good game.  Does RPI have a decent kicker?  If RPI doesn't win the field position battle, TCNJ will win by a couple of scores IMHO.

Miello resigns from William Paterson.  Citing the time invloved to maintain a top level program at his age, he wants to spend more time with his family.  He'd like a HS head coaching job.  No details on whether DC Stinson takes over or if the job will open up.

I say good luck to the WPU coach.  He has done really well with that program and has gotten them to play the best they have in years.

TCNJ will represent the NJAC well this Saturday!  Even with the Kean loss, the NJAC Champ should have recieved a 1st round home game.  The Lions will be playing with a chip on their shoulder and the Defense will rise to the occassion, not to mention the more I watch the QB, Chris James, the better he seems to get.  Thats too bad about Willy P's coach leaving, they were finally turning it around.  Could be a great oppurtunity for the next HC.  I think TCNJ's Offensive Coordinator, Rich Alercio, should put in for the job.  He is ready to take the next step.

Ed Stinson is the WPU DC and assit head coach.  If he doesn't want it, people like Alercio and Rowan DC Mark Hendricks might have trouble taking it because:

1)  Cost of Living sticker shock  - Even at today's depressed housing market you need about $300,000-$350,000 to move into a place in a decent neighborhood.  And at $300,000-$350,000 that house will need some work.  So if someone has to move, its very prohibitive.  We're talking small 3 BR and 1.5 Baths.

2) Have to compete with MSU and Kean for players.  Each school is about 20 minutes to 40 minutes away from each other.

3) What is WPU commitment to football w/o a marquee Northern New Jersey coach?

I would like to see Stinson take the position if offered.  He was a very successful HS coach in Hoboken and I think he could be very good at WPU.

And he's got a fat Hoboken pension... not like he needs the money.

I cannot see Mark Headricks taking the job at William Patterson. He is  next in line for Rowan U. he is what they need at Rowan.

JT did you ever find out who was cut from the Rowan staff? Was  it Bodine?

JT

He is gone but it looked like he was replaced on the staff directory.

JAY

Where did was good Bodine go? He  was a good man with organizational skills?

I have to say, it sure was strange--albeit a little bit satisfying--to see Rowan get smacked around a bit this year.  Especially since they have crunched my Hobart Statesmen a couple times in recent years.  But with that kind of talent, they certainly will be back soon.  The beat down of Widener was a glimpse I think, especially since that team may very well find itself in the round of 16 or better.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

is there only 1 TCNJ fan on the boards? Quiet here in the DJAC.

At least we don't have to deal with RowanTexan & RowanLB this year......sorry JT.
