These past few posts got me thinking. Check this out, since 1999 :

Making the Dance    Beyond The 1st Round   Conference

Rowan                   6                                  5                           NJAC
Hobart                   5                                  3                           LL
Montclair               4                                   2                           NJAC
RPI                        4                                   2                           LL
Ithaca                   4                                   2                           E-8
Springfield             4                                  2                           E-8
Brockport               4                                  1                           IND
St. Johns                3                                 3                            E-8
Cortland                 1                                                               NJAC
TCNJ                       1                                 1                            NJAC

I hate to say it, but Rowan is #1. They have consistantly gone deep into the playoffs and now they appear to be on a down turn, but time will tell. If we look into the future Ithaca, Cortland and St. Johns should be on top, but watch out for Montclair, RPI, Hobart and Union, then followed by TCNJ, Rowan, Springfield and B-Port. Should be a good year for the east.

I don't think that the NJAC was stacked, rather then Rowan was that over powering.

Any Comments & Happy July 4th To Everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This may be the case but if you change your timeline to start the year after Keeler left you get a different picture, yes?

Can't argue the point. The 1st D3 Football game I saw was was Wesley vs Roran in 2000. Watching the Rowan players leaving at halftime, they look like Maden football players on the video games. Men among kids, and Wesley hung in there. ;)

Okay, I took the bait.

I have added Hobart, Ithaca, Montclair and RPI ('02-'07) re: Pat's Coleman's suggestion.  :)

I meant the whole set of standings, but ok. :)

Hmm, 1979. 1980 grads from Rowan are old enough to be the fathers of every kid in the timeframe in question.  :)

Yeah, see, that's the question: How long is history important? Does a recruit care more about 1979, 2003 or 2007?

I'm glad what I said got people talking on this board, at least!  :)

Say what you want about polls...we all have our opinions of them; but in the offseason it is all that some of us have to sink our teeth into.  USA Sports Weekly Preseason Poll was released last week:  Seems that Cortland is the only NJAC representative.  They are listed at #13.    Also released recently was Lindy's Poll and no NJAC team even listed.  Doesn't look like we (the NJAC) are getting much love.   Will be interesting to see what the season brings.

Im not trying to be funny here, but what had Cortland done to get such a high rank in that first poll?

rams1102

clandfan,

Thanks for the post with the rankings (even though D3 is the Best) it was a nice little fix for the holiday weekend. IMHO, Cortland should be the only team from the NJAC making any top 25 Pre Season Poll. My Red Hawks were 27(D3) and 30(ACFC) in the 2007 final rankings I think. We need to replace a QB and a little O-Line. When the season plays out I think Montclair will do very well, but like I alsway say "100% for 60 minutes". Easier said then done. I think Cortland S/B somewhere 20-25.

Agree with you 100%. They should be 20-25. When the real D3 Pre-season comes out I think youwill see Ithaca around 10-15, Fisher 16-20 and Cortland around 23-25. IMHO, Ithaca brings back the stongest team and Fisher will be higher then Cortland because of past performance, but watch out for those Mighty Red Hawks !!!!!  ;)

I woudn't give too much credence to the Lindy's Poll.  I think it's the one that is well known for being pure fluff.

I think it is probably based on the last year's performance and returning starters compared to the rest of the league.  C-State also had a strong recruiting class but I don't think they have published their recruiting info so that probably would not have been taken into consideration.

clandfan

I think Cortland's ranking is probably too high.  As Rams1102 demonstrated with the past performance research, Cortland has never fared all that well in post season.  What has always looked promising on paper has never really panned out.  We are hoping this year will be different.
