Rams...I am curious as to your thoughts on the QB pick.  Must have been quite a battle.
If I could jump in here I have a few minutes before I need to go learn about the world and this is my opinion only...
Yes it was quite a battle, didn't actually think coach was sure up until Thursday. Fischer shows a lot of confidence and has a good arm, big tough kid. We will see how it all pans out on Saturday against Wilkes. We are  chomping at the bit and attitude is very high and everyone is anxious and pumped.  Everyone knows what needs to be done, we've planned, practiced and now we need to execute what we've been doing since 8/22.
We are ready to rock and roll !!

catchball,

Thanks for answering clandfan's question. I'm psyched to see the boys are ready for some football. I'll be at the Train Station early. Looking forward to a great start for the Red Hawks on Saturday. This may be our year to go dancing.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, if Fischer doesn't make the grade, Palmer will will step in for him.

So this is the kid who was a walk-on at Rutgers, right?  Good luck.  We will be interested especially after just having scrimmaged Wilkes 2 weeks ago.  No comparison to live ball but might give us some clue as to how we stack up against each other.  I think you should win handily.  I suspect they will keep it close in first half but will fade in the second.

Montclair should handle Wilkes.  I don't see Wilkes generating a ground game against the Red Hawks.  I'm also interested in the West Conn - Albright matchup, as Albright put a big scare into Salisbury in Week 1.

I posted this in the MAC thread as well, and wanted to get your opinion.

Hey guys, you seem to know the D3 football in the area pretty well, and you're not too biased.  Well the other day  I was reading ESPN and they compare the different conferences.  I was thinking how that same comparison would work in the local D3 field.

That being said, how would you rank the conferences listed below?

NJAC
MAC
Empire 8
Centennial
Liberty
New England Football Conference
New England Small College Conference

Phil I will be at the field early with some other Alum and prob just hang around the sidelines...Look for the running game to get started early and often, Appleton, Goff, Jason Wombough is a beast!!! Along with my man Jay Mercer...Bliss is going to explode!!!!

D3FB-

Kickoff 2008 ranks the conferences from first to worst.  They cover the entire nation, and I believe they do a good job.  If you haven't signed up for Kickoff, I recommend you do.  It's a great reference to use all season.

The one conference we unfortunately have a hard time ranking is the NESCAC because of the lack of out of conference games.  The NESCAC is known for producing quality basketball and lacrosse teams nationally, so I assume the best football programs would be strong entrants into the NCAA tournament if they were willing to participate.  I can only offer a wild guess here, but I would put the NESCAC somewhere between the E8/NJAC and LL.  This is based on watching a few games on video, and talking to Pat Coleman who has covered them Live.

Yes he's the walk-on from Rutgers, but as posted earlier, he needs to really step-up and show what he's made of, was a tough decision all along on who was starting.
Tomorrrow will be the test for all of us !!

You forgot a few pieces of the puzzle ;D :D,  AJ Letizia, Omar Sevilla and J. Scott , all of these guys can also catch the ball very well and are BIG weapons outside and from the backfield.
As Rams would say, we need to go
110 for 60 8)

I'm ducking for cover as we're an hour from Galveston Bay with the eye of Hurricane Ike projected to pass directly overhead. Bye-bye electricity... hope it's a great DIII football weekend back in NJ.

BTW, they haven't discovered the joys of good NJ diner food down here. The pizza sucks and I have to drive 20 minutes for a decent bagel. Can't argue about the barbecue tho'.

I guess you weren't one of the people that  they took names and social security number from. Or was that just the people in Galveston?? How much more warning do people need? I quote"Leave or you will die".

I hope he blows out quickly and you all are safe.

Football !!! The ultimate team sport. Anyone who plays DIII football is a winner...

No, we're not on Galveston Island. Anybody who stayed there is an absolute idiot. At 8:00 AM this morning the waves were over the sea wall. The sea wall is 17 feet high. The storm flow will be in excess of 22 ft. and the eye won't hit until late this evening. Yup, you gotta be looney tunes to do that math and still decide to stay. I'm not sure which part of this statement they don't understand, "Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single family one or two-story homes will face certain death".

Stay safe Phil.  Give us a heads up when the "smoke" has cleared.
