No, we're not on Galveston Island. Anybody who stayed there is an absolute idiot. At 8:00 AM this morning the waves were over the sea wall. The sea wall is 17 feet high. The storm flow will be in excess of 22 ft. and the eye won't hit until late this evening. Yup, you gotta be looney tunes to do that math and still decide to stay. I'm not sure which part of this statement they don't understand, "Persons not heeding evacuation orders in single family one or two-story homes will face certain death".

Stay safe Phil.  Give us a heads up when the "smoke" has cleared.

Be safe buddy, you and your family and as JT said give us a heads up when everything clears out. We're all thinking about you.

Looks like the weather holds off for the Montclair - Wilkes game.  The time is here, 110 for 60 and "keep pounding." See ya at the Train Station and Sam Mills Field.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn, I wish we had a game this weekend.  I can read  your excitement.  good luck.  Funny how football stays in your blood.  I could go to the Cuse / Penn St. game today but I am afraid that won't be much fun.  I guess I'll have to settle down to the TV with an adult beverage or two.  Have a great day all.

That's the best bet Cland.  I thought about taking the family up to watch Penn State massacre SU, but it is better to watch it on TV so I can flip the channel after the game is decided.

I think I'll spend the day bouncing around the D3 audio feeds, and finding the most competitive early season D1 games on TV.

Wasn't pretty , but, it was a win. Our 1st game, no scrimmages for us, Wilkes 2nd game I believe so we need to work out some kinks. Offensive line has to button up a lot, defense needs to wrap runners up not arm tackle.
We got a little banged up, hopefully next week will be a lot better for us. Coach wasn't yelling but he made a point of what we need to do. :o

Week 3 in the NJAC is shaping up to be very interesting.  The obvious game to watch is Cortland at Rowan.

But I also think people need to keep an eye on Western Conn at Kean.  Kean can move back into the upper echelon with a home victory, and Western Conn is coming off a close loss to a good Albright team.

The game of the day may turn out to be Montclair at Morrisville.  Montclair's defense had a strong showing against Wilkes.  They will be severely tested by a Morrisville offense which is led by a mobile, veteran QB and a set of game breaking receivers.  If Morrisville gets the ground game going, look out.  Morrisville is well coached and building fast.  I'm already on record in another thread comparing them to Buffalo State in the early 1990s.

I'm thinking Cortland -4 or -4.5 on Saturday.  Both secondaries are suspect.  Cortland may have the better running game which may the difference maker.  Jury is out on whether I'll make game as it is anniversary w/e.  For some reason every year, I see the schedule and go yeah I'll make week #3.  Then Sept rolls around and I go oh crap.  Sometimes week #3 is weak opponent, but for me Cortland is must see in the 'boro.  Might have to listen on the web.

Upset possibilities:

1) Rowan wins the turnover battle
2) New transfer QB Wilczynski - former Wr from U Del is more in synch than week #1.

I'll have the picks up tomorrow and as of now I have Cortland -3.5

It should be a good game in the Boro.

Had a busy weekend and now time to reflect on the Montclair game. I was there and it was extremely hot and humid. An MSU player was taken off the field and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Both of his calves severly cramped-up. Wilkes definitely dominated the game in every aspect but the score. Our "D" was good, but on the field way too much(38-22). They started to run on us in the 4th quarter. We had a little trouble containing their QB'S. Our "O" line needs to get better. We need to give the "D" a blow. In defense of Montclair we did not have our traditional Red & White Scrimage and also the Lackawana Scrimage. This was our first real day of hitting. I feel the boys played hard for 60 minutes. There are no excuses and we will take the "W". From what I have been hearing, Morrisville is real tough. No walk in the park. We have to come out smoking and keep the pressure on. Looks like the line will be Montclair -3.5. See ya all at Morrisville.
