Week 3 in the NJAC is shaping up to be very interesting.  The obvious game to watch is Cortland at Rowan.

But I also think people need to keep an eye on Western Conn at Kean.  Kean can move back into the upper echelon with a home victory, and Western Conn is coming off a close loss to a good Albright team.

The game of the day may turn out to be Montclair at Morrisville.  Montclair's defense had a strong showing against Wilkes.  They will be severely tested by a Morrisville offense which is led by a mobile, veteran QB and a set of game breaking receivers.  If Morrisville gets the ground game going, look out.  Morrisville is well coached and building fast.  I'm already on record in another thread comparing them to Buffalo State in the early 1990s.

I'm thinking Cortland -4 or -4.5 on Saturday.  Both secondaries are suspect.  Cortland may have the better running game which may the difference maker.  Jury is out on whether I'll make game as it is anniversary w/e.  For some reason every year, I see the schedule and go yeah I'll make week #3.  Then Sept rolls around and I go oh crap.  Sometimes week #3 is weak opponent, but for me Cortland is must see in the 'boro.  Might have to listen on the web.

Upset possibilities:

1) Rowan wins the turnover battle
2) New transfer QB Wilczynski - former Wr from U Del is more in synch than week #1.

Aside from Hobart, this is the game I am most interested in this weekend.  Should be a great match up.  I assume broadcast info is available on either CSU's or RU's websites?

I think four quarters is key...Morrisville is very athletic and no one should overlook them.  If not for giving up the big play, they might have beaten us.  Despite some late excitement, I think they faded the second half so I am sure they are stressing four quarters as well.  Should be a good game.

RedHawk,

Indeed a big game. My business trip just ended and I'm camped in Binghamton, NY. Can't wait to see the game tomorrow. ;) I hope a lot of the rust was knocked off this week. All these Up-State kids are well coached and know how to play the game. We have all the ingredents for a big "W" just 110 - 60 , keep pounding and it's done.!!!

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to the Dragons for beating Rowan!  I heard it was 27-7 in the 4th but Rowan crept their way back into the game.  Don't sleep.....we need to close games out and not let up any late scores.
Taste It!

Montclair - 12     Morrisville - 7

Had a business trip across NY so I stayed in Binghamton Friday night and made the drive to Morrisville around 10:00AM. Very intersting drive, very country and limited cell service. The campus was nice and better yet, get a 50 yard seat at the top of the bleachers. There are no visitors bleachers. The grass field appeared to be in need of a cutting. Montclair held Morrisville scoreless until under 2 minutes left. There was a bogus pass interfearence at the MSU 15, but those are the breaks. >:( The Montclair "D" is very good and Bliss had a real good day. I think 149 yards. We should have had another 17 points and the "O" still needs to get the balance of the rust off. We need to finish drives and no more excuses. The schedule only gets tougher. Fischer appears to be tenative and needs to be more assertive. We controlled time of possession and total yards. You can say the Wilkes game was our Red-White scrimage and Morrisville was the Lackawana scrimage. With a little more dominent "O" we can have a shot at the NJAC. Enjoy your Sunday boys and get prepared for B-Port. We need a solid game on both ends of the ball.

Good game for Cortland.  Defense was much improved over Morrisville.  I thought Joblonski had a great game.  Giuliano brothers both had impact.  Game was not as close as score indicated with Rowan scoring in last minute of game but nonetheless had onside kick and chance to get a game tying (winning?) possession in last 48 sec.  Cortland has to close these out.  I thought there was a coaching mistake with the 4th down attempt at midfield in the 4th.  Of course hindsight is always 20/20 but why give Rowan a chance at regaining momentum down the stretch.  Punt it deep and make them go the whole length of the field.  Sure, we are up 20 and if we make it, game is probably over but we didn't, we gave Rowan short field and momentum.  They promptly score because Def took the series off.  They can't do that.  They took two series off, both leading to Rowan Scores where Cortland couldn't contain Wilczynski.   When Rowan was firing on all cylinders they showed great potential.  I don't think Wilczynski is going to beat many teams with his arm but he showed that he can run.  Rowan just shot themselves in the foot too many times.  took too many sacks, the INT, the fumble, the bad snap...all seemingly at important moments.  Cortland learned that they can't take any series off.  You have to play every down of every game.   It was a great road win, the first in many years at Rowan.  Be proud and be even better at Keane.  This is a good team.

Results from Week #3 are posted on the Pick'Em Board. Way to go pgo4, very impressive. Your green and gold put a hit on everyone. Waz-up with that.

Was a good game all aorund, we should have shut them out, definitley a bogus call in the 4th.
Fish played well, the offensive line did ok still not 100% of their capability. Defense played very good. Have to say and I mentioned it last week, backfield was solid, again I mentioned, J.Scott, played a good game, solid blocking, 2 good runs and a nice pass reception, another weapon in our arnsenal. Talked to his dad after the game, and his dad was like, football is a team sport, its not like golf !!!
Giangrande, Hunt, Mercer,Bliss all systems go, we need to really beat up on Brockport, so everyone else knows we are serious. !!
Rams, I value your posts and opinions, how do you fell about my comments.? I think we have a good thing going for us and we are only gonna get bette, beleive me. ;D

The "D" is playing well. The "O" needs a leader and Fischer needs to step up. Bliss is the real deal. Fischer needs to take charge of the "O". We should have had 17 more points on Morrisville. Fischer needs to zip the ball. I know it's a work in progress. For 2 games we played 110-60. This is something new for me to observe. I've played competitive collegate sports. Don't ask when, but the Red Hawks have the ability, but they must come togeather as  a team. Let's see them smoke B-Port at Sam Mills Field this Saturday. See everyone at the Train Station.

Congrats boys keep it rolling, last time we played Brockport....It was my freshman year in college, (2001) Omar Lucas, who is by far the hardest hitter I have ever been around, knocked out and I mean knocked out cold the 1st and 2nd string Quarterback.
