Congratulations to your Red Hawks on their win over B-Port.  The score seems like it was quite a "bird fight".  ;D

Hope all is well with you. How is the new football team at Lincoln doing? The Gulls ran into a buzz saw last week. You guys have some real tough games ahead. Fisher and Wesley. Good luck to you guys. We needes a 37 yard field goal with :16 left. Talk about sweating it our. Our "D" is real good but our "O" is yet to be found. We are lacking leadership on "O", but it will come. We need a breakout game against Willy P. and then the following week, we have to journey to Cortland. Nice to hear from you.

OK all you Red Hawks, it's time to put everything into high gear.

D3 Football has us ranked #32 and the AFCA has us ranked #26.

We need a break-out game for the "O" and keep pounding with the "D". Any word on who will be calling signals this week?

See you all at Willy P.

Yes, nice win.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to follow them this year as closely as I'd like.

Do you mind if I wait until after Friday night's game????  It might (emphasize might) improve my performance.

Regarding Buff State:

Their offense is not very good, they run a spread but cant pass the ball to save their lives.  The only play that had decent success vs SJF was the QB draw out of 4/5 wr sets.  They had like 200yds of offense but 95% of it was on the ground, they just gave up passing all together.  In addition they also threw a couple INT's that were called back by needless penalties by SJF.

play straight up man vs them, they're not going to beat you with the pass.  I'd be in cover zero all day and keep as many guys in the box vs the run as possible.

Thanks Upstate:  Well that might play right into Cortland's hand.  If anything is suspect it is Cortland's secondary but they are improving.  Run defense is strong.  Our LBers are quick to to fill gaps and quick down the line and, I think, getting quicker.  They shut Kean's Chunn right down and he is a good back.  Of course we all know anything can happen on saturday.  it's why we play the game but Cortland could be a pretty difficult match up for Buff St. if what you say is true.  Cortland is solid offensively and can beat you any number of ways and it all starts with a big, experienced O-line.

An interesting stat from last weekend's Cortland-Kean game that I didn't really take notice of until somebody pointed it out to me today. Cortland kicker/tight end Jeffrey Lang recorded a touchdown, a field goal, a two-point conversion and three PAT kicks in the game. He is the first player at Cortland since at least 1964 to register each of those four stats in the same game (in fact, no Cortland player has even had a TD, FG, 2-pt conv. and PAT kick in the same season, let alone one game).

The records I have here only go back to 1964, so I have to eventually check archives for games from 1958-63 to see if Lang is the only Cortland player ever to record all four of those scoring plays in a game (the NCAA started two-point conversions in 1958).

Anyone know of someone else doing this over the years? I assume this is pretty rare (and, yes, somewhat trivial).  :)

Looks like Palmer is getting the nod against Willy P.  Another weapon in the backfield. Hopefully it'll be a little different this week, no come from behind pressure on Palmer. We need to point some major points up this week.

I had also been made aware of that fact and thought it might be quite rare.  I looked for it in DIII's cover story exploring the weekend's statistics and it wasn't there so I emailed Pat Coleman at DIII and made him aware of the interesting stat. He acknowledged that he missed it as well and recognized its rarity.  Obviously you want to research Cortland but I would bet you would be hardpressed to find such a stat nationally.  Quite a fete!
