Cortland loss = MUC in the east

So for the east's sake...

GO CORTLAND!

D,
I know there has been much talk of the ' 06 RPI/Cortland ECAC game on other boards.  It was a rough day to be a Dragon fan that day.  I wouldn't say Cortland "Phoned it in that day".  I just chalked it up to "Any given Saturday".  They wanted the "W" and they took it with blunt force.  On a side note and with nothing to do with the lopsided ECAC game (s), don't teams have to declare themselves ECAC eligible midway through the season?  Once they submit, and a game is awarded after week 10, can a team decline?

I am sure they didn't phone it in, but it had to have been a disappointment for Cortland to play RPI in the ECAC game that year after getting snubbed by the NCAA in 2006.  One loss, in OT at conference champion Rowan late in the season led to the ECAC game.  Now credit RPI for getting the victory, but don't forget the Dragons were down to their third-string QB with Smith and Miles out, and I believe they were banged up and missing starters at several other key positions as well.

I have seen posts on other boards questioning the senior leadership of Cortland's 2006 squad due to their ECAC loss.  I must say again as someone who knew the situation, several key players were injured and did not play or were at less than 100%.  Injuries are no excuse, but that team was a veteran team that featured great senior leadership with Haas, Monpetit, Rickert, Coyne and Sair among others.  RPI simply played a great game.

Rowan 20 Kean 7 at the half.  Profs defence is making it hard for the young Cougar qb.

Cortland TD, Guiliano sets school single-season TD record, Dragons up 24-18 with 4:55 to go...

I forgot about that QB situation.  Didn't the third QB start the Ithaca game?  He did a solid job that game from what I remember.

Yes they were able to win that one with the third string QB, they lost Miles in the Rowan game the week before.

Cortland wins!  NJAC Champs, going to the NCAAs! 24-18, great game in New Jersey today, defense stepped up on the final series.

XREDDRAGON77

Congrats Cortland for finally winning the NJAC Crown.  Three seasons of going "Round Robin" for the top spot was getting old.  As I was at Army / Air Force all I could think of was the score to this game.  Cell service was weak in my section of Michie Stadium so updates were scarce.  Can't look past Brockport.  We don't want any unsightly blemishes on our record.

MSU - 38        W.Conn - 14

My second visit to W.Conn and a great place to watch a Football Game.

The first half ended 24-0. We played great on both sides of the ball. At the start of the second half, W. Conn had a nice 5 minute drive for a score and a 2 point conversion. When they got their hands on the ball for the second time a deep pass and a blown coverage for a quick TD and the 2 point conversion was missed. 24-14. Within 7-8 minites we were back in a game. We then woke-up and played Red Hawk Football for the rest of the game. If we are going to beat Rowan next week we need to play 110-60 and "Keep Pounding". We need to impove our secondary coverage, punting and stay intense for 60 minutes.

This team has what it takes to get to the "Dance". Stay focused and take care of Rowan. I know you can do it. "You Gotta Believe In Yourselves."

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!   "Keep Pounding"
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Two 7-1 squads getting after it next week in Montclair.  Should be an interesting game.  Cortland's win didn't seem to convincing against a solid program who is having a tough year.  I figured it would have been a bit more comfortable.
