FYI....  12 students grade 9-12..  It would be nice, but unlikely...... still, I'm hopeful for the young man.....

OMG - I didn't know there were ANY high schools still around with 12 students!  Can that be right?! :o

Assuming only about half were male and/or had ANY athletic ability whatsoever, a kid with 'church league' talent might score 30 a game due to lack of alternatives and the other teams' sportsmanship. ;D

(On the other hand, I remember the Cobden 'Appleknockers' in 1960, when Illinois was still all schools in a single division.  They came SO close to being the 'Hoosiers'!  Lost in the state finals to the Pekin 'Chinks'(!!), with four players (two sets of twins who were first cousins) all 6'4" or taller.  Don't know the size of the school, but almost certainly less than 100.)

I'd also note that the ST Louis post Dispatch, which does a pretty good job supplying High School stats in the area, doesn't list Christian Outreach's record or Ryan Carter's numbers....  Christian Outreach in Hillsboro would definitely fall in the area of coverage.... Would love any reader who can tell us anything about Ryan to help us out....

Incidentally, Thanks to GC Panther for letting us know about the Greenville Recruit site....  Why doesn't EVERYONE do this, SLIAC coaches and SIDs?  Its a way to pick up the enthusiasm for the upcoming season...  nice writeups, pictures...  it seems elementary to me, but for whatever reason, getting recruiting info from some of the schools is like pulling teeth..

Was very pleased to see Tim Daniel from Davenport on the Greenville list... the Daniel family was at a Saturday afternoon game that I attended, and were obviously a family visiting the school.... with Coach's permission, I spent 15 minutes chatting with Tim's Dad, telling him all the positives that I've seen at Greenville and the benefits of playing in a tight-knit conference like the SLIAC...at the time, an NAIA school seemed to be the top choice... don't know that I helped sway some thinking towards Greenville, but at least I evidently didn't Detract!!!!

From an inside source regarding the Greenville list... watch for Tevin Rollins from California.... should be immediate impact... (shades of Willie Trimble!!??)

Observation :  The SLIAC is going more and more to Junior College transfers....  Merramac CC in St Louis has supplied 3 or 4 players in the last several years that have come in and played immediately....   Westminster, Webster, Eureka, and Mac each have had Transfers play key rolls in helping their programs reach the conference tourney in recent years...  hoping the Greenville student athlete can also have a big positive impact.

Hope, I hope you are correct on Rollins.  At any rate it's nice to see GC finally pickup a little size to go with a plethora of guards.  Not sure what connections there are in Cali (maye alum?) but the football team has picked up several recruits from there in the last couple years as well.
I agree with the news and postings.  A great example to learn from is GC's football staff under Coach Walker, they have their own sub website for the sport that is well done and updated regurally. http://www.emapnation.com/  I've been pushing the hoops team to do something along the same lines.

Fontbonne gets 3 MORE:    and all 3 appear to be kids who will make an impact sooner rather than later...

6'5"  Jarred Greenlee    Marshfield    4A 2nd Team ALL State   !!!!   This kid has played Varsity at Marshfield all 4 years...  I found a box score on the internet with him scoring 23 points in a game in 08-09..... A 4A All Stater has the potential to be big time in the SLIAC.

5'10"  Nathan Meystedt   Cape Girardeau Notre Dame   18 ppg   4A 2nd Team ALL State   !!!!   Again I'll say, A 4A All Stater has the potential to be big time in the SLIAC.

6'3"  Darius Rucker    Whitfield   10ppg, 59% from the field, 5.4 rebounds per game

Coach Shafer  "All 3 kids were high priority recruits for us and should be immediate impacts. We beat some higher level schools on both Meystedt and Greenlee. Very happy to be adding all 3 to the Griffin family!"

Another interesting point... let's hope Darius Rucker has a positive experience starting out at Fontbonne.. Younger brother Demitri is a Junior at Whitfield, said to be a beast on the boards, averaged 8.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg....  how cool would a brother combo be!!!!

Never can tell how quickly kids will make the adj from high school to College, but what impresses me most about Fontbonne's class is how well rounded it is, as well as the 'pedigree' of the schools the kids are coming from....  4 or 5 kids at 6'5" or better with good stats from competitive schools, several 'shooters', several point guards/leaders...   sounds like a great class... add that to the nucleus that returns, and it's a solid blend with immediate competition for any spots... which will make Fontbonne better.

Now if I could just get something on some of the other SLIAC schools..... ??? ???

If things don't work out for Darius he can always go back to his music career.

Rats! I thought that I was going to be the first one to make a Darius Rucker joke in here, but sac beat me to it.

Expect to hear a lot of Hootie & the Blowfish songs played over the P.A. in the Fontbonne gym over the next four years.

I hate to admit, being 62, I knew Hootie and the Blowfish, but had no knowledge that his name was Darius Rucker :-[ :-[ :-[

You must not be a country fan, Hopefan. Darius Rucker's had five number-one hits as a country artist, under his own name and sans Blowfish, in the past five years. He's a pretty big deal in the world of country music.

Alas, for someone who knows every song ever recorded in the 60's, and who kept up pretty well in the 70's and early 80's, I've fallen way, WAY, behind!!!!!! ::) ::) ::)

Let's see...  5 of Hopefan's favorites:
I Gotta Line on You...   Spirit
Combination of the Two... Big Brother and the Holding Company
Jump Around....  House of Pain
My House...   MaryJane Girls
Are You Gonna Go My Way....   Lenny Kravitz

Country?
Crazy... Patsy Cline
Brown Eyes Blue... Crystal Gayle

Have at it readers!!!  ;D ;D ;D

I hear you. I made it all the way into the '90s before I lost the ability (or the desire) to keep up. Now I listen more to music in my own preferred genres than whatever happens to be popular at the moment.

Oddly enough, though, basketball season keeps me current to a certain degree, at least as far as what's popular, thanks to whatever warmup music is used in the various gyms I visit. Warmup music, after all, is usually chosen by the home team's players, who are 18-21-year-olds that tend to listen to whatever is popular at the moment.
