Congratulations to NPU graduate Roshawn Russell, who was recently named to be the graduate assistant coach at Fontbonne. He's reunited there with the coach who first recruited him to NPU and who helped coach him as a Vikings freshman, Steve Schafer.

hopefan,
I left you a reply on the SUNYAC board.

I notice that Eureka College is leaving for the Windsor Ontario Area today for a 3 game exhibition series against Canadian competition... games Saturday, Sunday, and Monday....  SOMEONE is going to get additional experience out of this as a starting spot is left open with Jordan Kindred still catching passes from Slammin' Sam Durley...

Here's hoping a rep of the Eureka SID's office will also be on the bus and supplying the Eureka college site with some Box scores so we can see how the guys are doing....

There were some good squads and players in the 00s, but I feel this current group is slightly better than those (09-10 would be a close second).  Time will tell! Play ball!

I am just curious as to how long you have been following the program and which teams during the 2000's you saw play?  ;)

All of them!  It is possible that you could be slightly biased since you were the best player on that 09-10 team...maybe.

Maybe he's slightly biased, or maybe he was the best player on that team..???  just curious as to your intent...

Clarity is difficult before 9 am...#40 was the best player on that team, maybe he's biased!

Oh boy look at the mess I got myself into  :P.  First i'd like to say i appreciate your praise.  I don't know which team was the best becuase i never got to see the team with Negangard and McGuire play ( McGuire scored 40pts in our alumni game against the 09-10 team).  I cant say that i wouldn't like to see 06-07 vs 09-10:

1 McComb vs Kindred
2 Wildenradt vs Leppard
3 Peffer vs Bell
4 Tarpley vs Zasada
5 Richard vs Lessen

2 very different styles of play and the 05-06 team has a deeper bench.

I hope this year's Red Devil team has more success than those 2 teams becuase both teams ultimately lost in the SLIAC Championship.

Hope I will try and see if I can get any communication from anyone while Eureka is on their trip and post updates as i reiceve them...

I would look for Misuraca to get the nod in Canada with Kindred staying behind for football.

I'll bite on this one:

1 McComb vs Kindred  --very close, Kindred
2 Wildenradt vs Leppard  --Wildenradt
3 Peffer vs Bell     --Bell, better all-around player
4 Tarpley vs Zasada   --draw? maybe a slight nod to Tarpley (no offense)
5 Richard vs Lessen  --Richard if we're talking the 09 version of Lessen

09-10 vs. 12-13?

EC has defeated Western Ontario University 85-72 in the first game of a three game exhibition tour.  Niko Rivera led all scorers with 22.

In 2009 EC lost to WOU by a score of 97-72.

ahhh so much fun to see a boxscore.  The new Eureka College sports site is really nice.  (http://eurekareddevils.com/).. a large amount of info on ALL Eureka teams and games....

Anyway, Coach Chip Wilde didn't seem to treat this as much of an exhibition, as Misuraca played in Jordan Kindred's spot and each of the 5 starters got over 30 minutes... none of the non starters had much in the way of stats except Drake Webster who hit a couple of 3's, and Misuraca had 6 points and one assist in 36 minutes... but the starters picked it up right from last year...Niko Rivera with a huge game, 22 points, 14 bounds, 5 assists; Ryan Nailor with 17 points and 5 assists;  Dustin Fritsch with 15 and 10 boards and Mark Lessen with 13 points and 9 bounds.. Those are sweet stats from the ironman 5 minus one.  Only wish one or 2 new names would have stood out a little more....
Incidentally I notice our missing hooper, Jordan Kindred, garnered EC athlete of the week last week for his Gridiron exploits, AND he caught 11 passes for 143 yards against Greenville yesterday.

Eureka loses the 2nd game on their trip, 76-82, to Windsor..........Fritsch leads the team with 15, Riviera and Misuraca finish with 12... Lessen only gets 8 points with 5 field goal attempts, but does have 12 rebounds...Reserve Tony Dunlap goes 3 for 4 from 3 point land in 14 minutes, but also has 6 turnovers...Eureka got crushed on the boards 57-39, with Windsor getting 29 offensive rebounds, likely leading to many 2nd and 3rd chance putbacks.. Eureka also turned the ball over 26 times....   Still though, Eureka had a 58-57 lead in the 2nd half against decidedly better competition than the Western Ontario team they played on Saturday.

Good experience.  Windsor has beaten S. Alabama 82-80 and Trine 84-68.

Agreed... the comparison looks great on paper... wonder how much of a difference having Jordan Kindred would have made.....  still though, the boards are a concern... if Lessen and or Fritch get in foul trouble, I'm wondering how things will hold up..  not concerned about the turnovers as much with the veteran players back....

Nice to see that Eureka is playing well in Canada. I agree with Hope about the turnover issue.

Hope I see your point about Lessen or Fritsch getting in foul trouble might cuase rebound problems but DT Thorton has good size coming off the bench.  Kindred is also a good rebounder from the guard position so this might not be as much as an issue against SLIAC comeptition.

From the play by play on the box score it looks like Dunlap hit 2 of his 3's in the final 1:04 of the game.  Not sure how much the bench contributed otherwise throughout the game.

The one thing that concerns me is Lessen only attempting 5 fg's in 32min.  He is one of if not the largest post player in the league.  If I were coach Wilde I would make it a point to get my big man going early and often.  Typically the inside game opens up the outside game for shooters.  It will be interesting to see if this happens at all during the season.
