Either I read it wrong or the time got changed, but the Westminster at PPrin game is at 4:00 on Saturday, not 8:00 as I had posted....

So on Saturday, as far as conference games, we have:

Westmin at Prin

Iowa Wesleyan at Blackburn

Webster at Eureka

All three generate some curiosity, and enthusiasm, in my mind

Westmin blows away Prin with Guard play, But they don't have good matchups vs Sydness and Ball... can Prin pull an upset?

Iowa Wesleyan at BC... does BC get their first win, or can Iowa Wesleyan compete at the lower end of the SLIAC scale?

Webster at Eureka...  ECred is optimistic, but I just can't see Eureka staying with the Gorlocks for 40 minutes... Eureka will have to show me something before I make the long Eureka Mo to Eureka Il trek this year....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

My curiosity continues about the Lobdells at Eureka... I fail to understand why things like this have to be so secretive..

They can only be:

On the team, practicing, but not playing, but will eventually play again

On the team, not practicing (ie injury, grades, coach's decision), but eventually will be restored to practice and games..

Off the team, no contact, but with some stipulation that they can come back

Off the team, no return

I'm not looking for the confidential reasons behind their status, I'm just looking for their status....    ??? ???

For my part, I'm just not comfortable posting info about student-athletes on a public forum without definite information.  I've only heard that it's likely they won't play the remainder of this season.

Now, basketball...fearless predictions, assuming no ppd games due to weather:

Westmin 78 Prin 58
BC 80 IW 69
WU 85 EC 77

Thanks EC, that's all I was looking for..... ;)

Your predictions look reasonable... Can't see a way to throw an alternate to any of them

Wow  either I totally missed seeing what times games start, or the snow is causing changes..

Iowa Wesleyan at Blackburn is at 1:00... the ladies are already playing!
Webster at Eureka is now listed at 6:00
Westminster at Principia still at 4:00

also note the MacMurray at Augie game tonight is listed as being on video

I was impressed by 6-8 FR Bryan DeGeare.  He had a little stretch where he really showed off a nice skill set - can handle it and take it to the basket off the dribble very well for a 6-8 kid.  Seems like he could be a big-time star in the SLIAC down the road.  I'd love to have him at Illinois Wesleyan!

He is going to be a good one, TQ. I thought FU had a chance when it was 71-65 w/ 8:00 to go. Thanks for the feed.

I watched some of Elmhurst/FU also. The quality of the video feed wasn't very good -- at least for me. But the audio and announcers were excellent. I was a bit confused to see DeGeare playing so far away from the basket -- spending a lot of his time outside the 3 point line, at least while I was watching. That's not where he was against Webster. Perhaps WU's zone had something to do with that. Or maybe FU was trying a sort of high/low post thing with Greenlee down low. I'm no coach, so I can't critique the strategy, but I was surprised.

Thanks for the link TQ.

Yjak - I think at some point in time we will All realize he is better facing the basket. Probably FU's best shooter, period! That's why I have said he is a euro type player. Great range for 6'8. And as TQ said, can put it on the floor and create. If FU can fill the post position. Allowing DeGeare to move out away with a little more room to work. I wouldn't let his size pigeon toe him to a position. If the offense can get him the ball in a catch and shoot position, he can shoot over anyone.

Interesting how Elmhurst shot, WHAT ?, 16-18 FT's the last 6 minutes. I'm just sayin'. ;D

And, IWC makes a good statement in the pecking order.

TQ, I think his weight scared a lot of those scouting him. I thought he was under recruited. He could play, by a junior, at several DII's in this area. The old saying, "If he only was 30 lbs heavier. And, he wouldn't be in the SLIAC."

Thanks Denny. Your explanation about DeGeare makes sense to this casual fan who needs help understanding the finer points of the game.
