On Fisk's behalf it was their 3rd game in 4 days. A good game at D1 Lipscomb (who beat Evansville) on Saturday, then a long bus ride from Nashville for back to back games. Also, it wasn't a charter bus they were on. The Gorlocks will need to find some consistancy from behind the arc for conference play. It'll be tough to win in the SLIAC with many 2-18 shooting nites. Still a very good win for the boys down Big Bend.

FC: I agree that Webster will have alot of trouble winning many games if they go 2-18 from the arc, but that seems to be just an exceptionally poor long range shooting night for the Gorloks, and one has to assume they will shoot better than 11% from three more often than not (As a team they are shooting 40% even after last nights abysml three point percentage.) That said, I like the fact that the Gorloks do not have to depend on the three ball to win games, and can pound the ball when the shots are not falling.  This will definitly come in handy in conference.

So right guys! I talked to Coach Bunch right after the game monday night and said I didn't think Fisk could stop their post play. And, from looks of shots taken by interior players they got 29 shots out of Hoggat and Kuhn. If the Griffin's would have kept going to the paint they would have gotten a W.

Try and ponder this stat----
Coach McKinney is a waiting for a surgery date from well known Dr. Lehman for sometime in January. This will take care of the right rotator cup. He had the left done a week before practices started.

The stat: 1267 straight games as head coach without a miss. Coach's streaK goes back to his first career game at old Qulin H.S.. He has NEVER missed a game.

That is a heck of a resume. Considering he has beaten colon cancer and lost part of a lung eight years later to this terrible disease. I don't know where to look to even see if they keep this type of record. I'm sure Coach Myers at Depaul had a long career run also. For anybody who has seen Coach at a game this year, he hasn't loss a bit of intensity over the years. I think that is called "For the Love of the Game".

Congratulationsot Coach McKinney. Quite a record of longevity. I've always admired people who could maintain a passion for the same thing for so long. How many years of coaching are covered in those 1267 games? I'm assuming this next surgery is not going to break his streak.

My hat goes off to Coach McKinney.  I met him through working with men's basketball and ran into him at the last two final fours.  Greenville has aided in prayer and some contributed to the "Coaches v. Cancer"  Foundation.  Even though he and I bumped heads last season and Fontbonne v. Greenville has some bad blood, everyone at Greenville has alot of respect for Coach McKinney.

I'm not exactly sure the number of years. I beleive it's 42. He definately like to get to 1300. It's going to require having surgery on Friday morning an getting released in time to Make Saturday afternoon's game. Tall order but he's stubborn. His wife June has also seen every game .

Pride one of his greatest qualities is short term memory loss on things like that. He had forgot about it by the time you two spoke and he hit the bus. He coaches every game as it being the last and it's a 40 min. battle. When the dust clears you go on to the next battle.

I suppose I should finally introduce myself, since I've had the honor of reading all of the posts from all of you hoops junkies this season. I try to keep our web site and d3hoops up to date with recaps and stats for Eureka baksketball, so I'll refrain from posting recaps here. I don't feel comfortable predicting EC games in the SLIAC picks game, but if you ever have any questions about the newcomers from way up North, I'll try to answer them for you. I'm not sure how many road games I'll make it to this year, but I'm easy to spot at the table if anyone decides to make the journey up I-55/I-155.

I believe Mac Attack had a question about the Player of the Week process. Certainly, team performance is one of the factors that goes in to choosing the plaer of the week. Of course, a player must first be nominated by his coach or SID to even be considered for the award. I'm not making any apologies for Chris Tarpley winning the award this week, though. As far as I can tell, we didn't have a men's basketball player win the award for the last 2 years we were in the NIIC!

Eureka_sid - Glad to have you with us. We do a lot of chatting but or main purpose is gaining info. The SLIAC website is usually slow to post scores and this is our best avenue of information. Nice to have ya with us and I will be making the trip up.

Well, just so you know, I usually post the half and final scores on d3hoops first, then put the score on our main web site, then put the boxscore up. So, you can check those places for quicker EC scores.

North Park U d. Eureka  75-66 OT

From what I've been reading on the CCIW board, North Park is much improved. All of us in the "Pick 'Em" thought Eureka would win, and the Red Devils certainly played them tough. Eureka appears to be a probable conference championship contender.

NPU played Tuesday night's game without the services of the team's star shooting guard, Jason Gordon. It was also the third game in four nights for the Vikings, with Eureka being a three-hour busride away for good measure. By comparison, the Red Devils were very well-rested; they hadn't played a game in an entire week before last night. Under the circumstances, I think the game was somewhat closer than it otherwise would've been.

You do a good job. SIDs are the unsung heroes of college basketball, and you should know that your efforts are appreciated. I was especially grateful for the promptness with which you got out the word of the final score of Tuesday's game and posted the box on the Eureka website. Unfortunately, there are athletic departments that aren't nearly as diligent about these responsibilities, which can make it very frustrating for those who weren't able to be at the game and want to know the outcome.

Welcome aboard, eureka_sid! This is a great group of basketball junkies. Very knowledgeable, tell like it is in a courteous way type of fans. I really enjoy reading the updates and information from the other posters. I think it gives us all a sense of involvement and appreciation of the other SLIAC programs. With the exception of an occasional hit-and-run poster, we avoid sarcastic or any mean-spirited comments. Very refreshing.

Don't worry about feeling uncomfortable in the Pick 'em contest. Just pick Eureka everytime (like I do with MacMurray) and your conscience will always be clear! Jump in next week - the waters fine.

Since MacMurray currently doesn't have a SID, my guess is Jerel Robertson wasn't nominated for Player of the Week. Some of the Mac players have put up very good numbers the first two weeks (Robertson, Greene, Coleman, Greene) and Mac has to be leading SLIAC schools in a few categories (points scored, points allowed (ouch), maybe assists, FG% and rebounds) but without an up to date stat department, all of this information is unavailable. Really a shame.

Eureka at Millikin tonight. I think that will be a very good game. Hope the Devils can pull the upset!

Finally, congratulations and best wishes to Coach McKinney. While I have never met him, I trust the judgement of others on this board. His dedication and commitment to the game of basketball has clearly impacted the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, of young men who will carry their memories with them - and pass them on - for generations to come. That's quite a legacy.

Gentlemen, please welcome the newest memer of the SLIAC Chat, eureka_SID... YAH!!

Yeah, so I announce for Greenville and that's my welcome to you Mr. eureka_SID.  I am not Greenville's SID, but I do alot of the SID work for both Men's and Women's basketball teams.  I do all the posting on D3Hoops.com and calling of media.  Only thing I don't do is the GC Website.  I know how hectic it can get.  Following home games, I wrap-up my music announcing and head straight to the phone and fax machine.  :)

On another note, Winter is setting in here in Greenville, IL.  No more 70* like yesterday.  I am looking out over the gym floor and out the far windows and see rain, ice, and snow.

Welcome WInter!

Does anyone know who maintains the SLIAC website and/or how to contact the folks who put it together on a weekly basis?
