Curious? The above post was made by the Dean of all that is SLIAC. He didn't soft ball the issue. I applaud Hopefan for the passion of his post. But, then he didn't stay to defend it.

But, not one poster that I saw referenced his post one time. Hopefan, I took 10 and counting negative K's. Supporting our views of the situation. ;D

Well I'll be starting next year in the hole. AAR, I hope you enjoy your Spring.

I'm done talking about the refs myself.  Can't change what happened.  Obviously, this board along with the CCIW board knows where I stand on it.

More than 48 hours removed from the game now, I still feel overwhelmed with pride in the Webster Gorloks, Coach Bunch and his squad.  For me personally, I think that was also one of the best games I've ever been to.  It says an awful lot for a team to be down 18 at one point against one of the nation's best teams on their home floor to rally to take the lead in the closing seconds. Just an outstanding performance by the SLIAC representative.  As I said previously, I certainly think the gap is closing a bit between the SLIACs top teams and the CCIW.  In years past, you really could see a big talent gap been SLIAC teams and teams we've played in the NCAA tourney.  I didn't see much of a talent gap between the Gorloks and Titans.  And that says a lot for the Gorloks, because the Titans are certainly a great team with plenty of talent on their squad.

If Coach Bunch can bring everyone back, look out...perhaps next year will be the year.  Only lose 1 starter, PG Edwards, and Huskey.  Both valuable guys to the Gorloks but not irreplaceable statistically-speaking.  Coach Bunch did a great job giving Etter and Odjo a taste of action this year and grooming 1 of them to take over the PG duties next year with the other one playing plenty of minutes off the bench.  The Gorloks will also bring back guard Danny Zehner who sat out this year with an injury.  If Coach Bunch can find a replacement to Huskey, a quality big off the bench, next year's team may be better than this years.

Very well articulated Bunchtime. I'd give u another +K but I have to wait 20 hours to catch up on the two you have coming. It was almost like Old Times.  :)

It's like a train wreck. I can't look away.

Pat, I've never given you a + before... I've far too often taken you for granted.... for this one, a BIG +

Back to usual. Haha The only conclusion I can come to for breaking the century mark in negatives, is nobody wants any kind of change. And, now even on here it's back to the Good Old Boy system.

It is a shame. They deserve better. That was my point made clearly yesterday. But, hey pile it on Oldtimers.

A couple of other random thoughts...

I hope Coach Bunch really challenges his team next year with a tough non-conference schedule.  He usually schedules a pretty tough slate of non-conference games, but next year I think his team needs it more than ever...it'll also prepare them for post-season play (SLIAC and potentially another NCAA tourney appearance).  And this isn't to say Coach Bunch schedules soft by any means...just that with this squad they'll be ready for the challenge.

Also, if I'm Coach Bunch, I make sure all players return next year, because as Sager pointed out, it's sometime hit-and-miss in this conference with guys with eligibility not coming back.  So, you re-recruit everyone so to speak to make sure everyone comes back and then go get a quality big for the 3 man frontcourt rotation and next year's team could be special.  Perhaps hit the JUCO circuit for an athletic big who can step in and contribute right away.

Pat, in your position and your vested interest in DIII, I expect you would want the best.

I do. I don't agree that what you cite is actually a problem; I definitely don't want to see D1 officials who couldn't care less officiating our games; and I don't want to see one person grinding his ax about it ad nauseam.

Same advice goes to an underdog that nearly wins as goes to a favorite who loses: Don't let officials decide your fate. Leave no doubt.

See, Denny, the problem here is whatever positive point you might have made is completely lost in the fact that you have continued to post the same thing over and over, using all caps, bold, etc. Gotta learn when to let it go or dial it back.

I believe we have one or two spots left in the D3hoops.com Classic for next December. Come to Vegas!

Pat. Sometimes you just got to holler and scream to get a Change. I guess I just don't come from the same cut of cloth. I don't have Greg's vocabulary to express what I was trying to say. Where I come from, you gotta fight for what you want. People on this site make it to be like it's a class system. We could not afford a DIII education. So I am a NAJIA kinda guy. Dad was the one who wanted move to the NCAA. It was not what he expected. He expected something more. Through NCAA committee's he served he tried to make a difference.

Branson puts on a good showing as Host. I guess I'll be taking a trip and watching bball to end the year. I know what to expect in this case.

DIII needs to try and do it better. All I was asking for, Guys.

I'll let you return to business as usual. You got some excited people looking ahead. Good Look to All Your teams. Out!

Did you take a hit on the officials comments? Just curious. I just wondering if it was just my Hard Stand on Changes in DIII? Friend I'd lay low.

Check your Karma. I got your back on this one!

What I think knowledgeable writers in this room should discuss is what the SLIAC should be doing to somehow extricate itself out of this 1-4 rut....  if we could just graduate to a 2-3 matchup, at least we would not have to deal with the stigma of being assigned the task of playing a highly rated team on its homecourt the first night of the tourney EVERY year  (oh we didn't have to play Milsaps at Milsaps and look what happened... we lose extremely close..  We have to do things better, top to bottom, than the conferences we are 'competing with'... the MWC , the NACC, the IIAC, the HCAC, the SCAC, the SAA... it will be forever before we'd catch up with the CCIW top to bottom, or the UAA, but those other conferences are not out of reach...

Our top teams have to schedule decent D3 schools and win
and
We can't have 4 or 5 teams WAY below 500....  Blackburn, Eureka, Fontbonne have to learn to win again.... Prin's tight religious convictions make recruiting so difficult it's hard to believe they can get the quality and quantity of players do much better than the 5 or 6 wins they got this year... and I don't know enough about IWC

If the conference winner has its opponents' records dragged down by in conference teams, we're hurting with no resolution

Hopefan you mentioned FU above. Do you like what you see? The recruiting class sizes? Different type of recruits ie. Big HS Schools second best player? Recruiting area? Do you think they are headed in the right direction. I am Blinded by the Light. I've support the New Coach on this board the best I could. Are we going to see FU in the picture next year. With a JR class and So class that is his. Plus what he can pick up this year?
