I hear you WU fan, but the fun of it all is the  competition within the league.  Webster's performance last year was magical, but obviously the exception. The trip to the NCAA tourney is a wonderful reward, but a win is not a likely aspiration.

I'm writing, which means I made it thru the surgery. Pretty sore  but I just want to say how happy I was this morning seeing the box score and the performance of Zehner, Henry, Odjo, and  Walton. Fantastic job by all of those guys in a game it was really needed.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Depends on your definition of "good" WU Fan.  It may be that there are a few good teams in the SLIAC.  If it's alright with you, I will hold my breath for a bit longer...

Great News, Hopefan

Last nites game was very hard to watch. These are 2 of the Sliac's teams. And, the score was 43-31 with 10 mins, to play and I shut it off.

SU looked like they had never seen a zone. Half of their turnovers were chest  passes thru traffic, trying to get entered to the middle. Coach Gray looked extremely frustrated and resulted into some fellas having seats on the bench. One bright spot. SU did great job of denying Smith the ball. This resulted in some very interesting shot attempts when he did touch it.

Webster got a W. And, a great game from Zehner. Had his own mini run to get WU some separation. Ward played a very uninspired game. Not much movement. Didn't really try to create.

Two weeks ago it appeared Mac and SU would fight it out to Host. Doesn't appear either are trying to hard for the spot. Maybe its the Host Team Jinx.

It is a very down year in the Sliac. But its been interesting. Find some Shooters, Please >:( ;D

WU FAN

Hopefan glad to hear you're alive and kicking!

Lots of interesting scenarios headed into the final days of the SLIAC regular season.  If my math is correct Mac, Spalding, and Webster are in.  It appears Greenville, Fontbonne, and Eureka all still have a chance but I'm not 100% sure on the tiebreaker scenarios for those teams.  As for the top 3 seeds and who will host that's still completely up in the air.  Mac wins out and everyone will be headed to Jacksonville.  Spalding needs to beat Westmin on Saturday and then see what happens.  It appears after taking a quick look that they lose just about every tiebreaker but I could be wrong.  As for Webster they need Mac to drop a game and then win out themselves.  I think in a 2 or 3 way tie the Gorloks win all the tie breakers.  Top 3 teams have all split sending it to the 4th place team and down it goes.  Should Webster win out they would have swept the 4th, 5th, and 6th place teams.

No prepaying for hotel rooms to save some money this year.  Should be a fun finish!

This kind of stuff is way beyond my capacity to comprehend, but I think I get it. I attempted to explain my understanding of it in writing here but I got confused by all the possibilities, so I decided against it. I concur about the three teams that are in (although explaining how that is true for Webster is a bit convoluted, which is why I think you may have decided against trying to explain that as well).

WU FAN

It has to do with the fact that all the top 3 teams would have split sending it to the record against the 4th place team.  In that scenario Webster would have swept all the teams that have a chance to be in 4th place whereas Spalding and Mac would have both split with them.  There's still a lot of basketball to be played and many things would have to fall into place for any of this to matter.  Right now Mac controls it all.  I think both Mac and Webster are in for 2 tough games to end the year.  Will also be interesting to see how Spalding does against Westminster.  They've lost 4 of their last 5.  It's been such a crazy year that nothing would really surprise me at this point.

I think it really comes down to whether or not Fontbonne wins out and finishes 11-7. Greenville is one of the teams still with a shot at the tournament. If Webster loses its last two games, one of which is against Greenville, and Greenville loses to Blackburn, and Fontbonne wins out, then all three of those teams are at 11-7 but Webster will have swept Fontbonne but not Greenville. Greenville and Fontbonne will have split with each other. So Webster is in but who is the other team in -- Greenville or Fontbonne? This drives me crazy.  :)

WU FAN

You're looking at this a different way than I am.  I'd prefer not to leave the 270 loop next weekend!

Iowa Wesleyan vs. Prin games cancelled for today but it appears all the others are a go.  That one is fairly meaningless anyway so it will be interesting if they try and make it up.

SliacChamp

Senior Day at Webster as they will be honoring 2 athletes, Ahmad Smith and Aaron Griffin. Both have been huge pieces of their program over the last 4 years and hopefully they can enjoy their day with a payback win against Eureka.

SliacChamp

Webster leading 34-23 at Half. Pretty balanced effort from the Gorloks zone giving eureka fits.

SliacChamp

Webster comes out of half and goes on. 20-6 run. Impressive. Still very balanced scoring, Ahmad Smith starting to separate himself from the pack.

SliacChamp

66-49 final. Neither team shoots over 40% and Webster blows them out. One of those basketball things I guess.
20 turnovers for Eureka.

Webster needs some miracles to clinch 1st place.

BunchTime

Miracles? They just need Fontbonne to beat Mac and then need to beat Greenville.  I wouldn't really call that a miracle.
