Thanks for the score.

It's not that your vote doesn't count. It's that you don't get a vote. You only get to express an opinion.  :)

Congrats to Spalding. And also big congrats to Fontbonne.  Helluva year (and game yesterday vs Webster), all things considered -- like some of the other posters pointed out. Very impressed by the FU coach.

Webster is without question more talented than Fontbonne but FU wanted it more yesterday against the Gorloks.  They play together, get down and dirty and are a mentally tough team.  Webster showed none of these things yesterday.  It was a disappointment.

Looking ahead to next year for the Gorloks...2 big losses in Ahmad and Griffin.  Gonna be hard to replace those guys, particularly Ahmad.  We shall see.

2015-16 Gorloks

Adam Etter
Cj Moore
Hunter Ward
Taylor Walton/Danny Zehner
??????????

Interesting recruiting year coming up for Coach B. Let's see what they can do. I am sure Ken Libby can be a major help for them recruiting wise.

1 through 3 will be solid for the Gorloks.  4 and 5 are huge question marks.  Walton and Zehner are good role/bench players.  Bunch and Co. probably need to go the JUCO/transfer route for at least one ready-to-contribute 4 or 5. If, and that's a big if, they can do that, the Gorloks will be poised to be right back in the mix of things. Henry, Dunn, Odjo, Zehner, Walton all played well down the stretch off the bench. Like I said, Gorloks need one front court guy who can step in and score and rebound.

Brennan Coltrane is transferring to Webster U after leaving the Millikin program just prior to official practices starting this season.  Still two years of eligibility left. Doesn't help at 4-5 but could create some depth at 2 or 3.

Interesting... I've heard there may be at least one other Millikin player moving over to the SLIAC....  I'm in no way advocating a 'raiding' war starting up, but I do wonder what's happening at Millikin that a number of players are looking elsewhere...  too many bodies, or something worse?...

It looks like Spalding gets another UAA team in the first round, playing at Emory.

There has been a lot of turn-over at Millikin for a lot of different reasons.  I think a big part of it is that you have kids coming into the program that are used to winning and there just isn't much of it going on there.  Nadelhoffer has done a great job of bringing in some really good talent over the last few years but hasn't been able to keep a lot of it.  In the 3 years that I have been around the program I've seen more talent leave than he has on the team right now.  11 players who have started over the last 3 years are no longer with the team along with a complete turn-over in assistant coaches.  The CCIW is a tough conference to rebuild in so I don't think it is all Nadelhoffer's fault but I would say that he is struggling to get a lot of the kids to buy into the program once they are there. If the players aren't buying into the program you can't create something sustainable. I can also tell you that they have told several kids who were unhappy with the direction of the team that they should consider moving to a team in the SLIAC where they could be All Conference players and win more games whereas that wouldn't be possible in the CCIW.  So that may be why you are seeing them show up on SLIAC teams.

CCIW guy... thanks... You know, I have NO Problem with kids who aren't getting to play coming to the SLIAC ... it's a win win for everyone... What I would hate to see would be the SLIAC become a repository for CCIW problem children... I HAVEN'T seen an indication of that... Deavis Johnson was terrific for MAC, and despite what the SLIAC coaches voted, should have been voted a First team ALL SLIAC player.

It looks like the Spalding women will be headed to St. Louis to take on Washington University in case any local SLIAC fans want to watch one more game in person.

Incredible!  Fantastic!    Congrats to Clayton Whitlock and MacMurray College... This is as good as it gets..... Not sure when the last time was that a SLIAC student athlete made the Josten's Ten.

I recall that Brady Barke of Webster made it his senior year, which I think would have been 2004. I don't recall if anyone on the women's side has ever made it. OOPs, see the update in my next post on next page.

Denny, what do you remember about this?
