No games for the next week.... let's play here...

ok how about early leading candidates for POY

Webster  -  Hunter Ward.... all of a sudden he seems to be 'getting it'... 3 point shot attempts down, 2 pointers way up, scoring up with it, and Webster is winning... it all seems to go hand in hand..

Fontbonne - Ben Kissing.. consistent scorer despite disarray around him as new staff figures out who fits together on the court.. has far exceeded my expectations after mediocre introduction to SLIAC last year

MacMurray - Brent Long... no expectations from this guy who played a limited role last year... all of a sudden a 20 ppg scorer and the best shooter in the league

Principia - Adaku Anumu... Just what the doctor ordered for short handed Prin, and he does everything, score, handle the ball, rebound...

MacMurray - Deavis Johnson... Rebounding and scoring... his level of play will determine how Mac will finish the season in the standings and conference tourney

Iowa Wesleyan - Chris Fowler... Darn shame IWC can't be in Conference tourney so this lightning quick guard could get more recognition... 3rd in scoring 1st in assists in SLIAC thru 5 weeks of the season

Eureka - Sam Feehan... Dangerous scorer

Hunter Ward tears it up in Florida (against WHOM?) to gain SLIAC PLAYER of the WEEK Honors.... Ettingers unbelievable game against Wash U doesn't gain mention... Ward's in is deserved, lack of mention of Ettinger is just dumb... losing confidence in whatever process generates this weekly story.... :( :(

I agree with you Hope. My guess would be the FC athletic office felt it was too much work to nominate him. Don't know that for sure, but things have slipped over on Wydown and this would fit right in with recent past performances out of the AD Office. If they did nominate Ettinger, then the staff at the SLIAC Office need to pull their head out.

Not sure of everything that goes into the selection process -- nomination obviously comes first -- but I'd be inclined to go with a known high calibre (though sometimes inconsistent) player (Ward) who has two outstanding games in a row over a guy (Ettinger) who comes out of the woodwork and lights it up for one game. Who know what Ettinger will do in the future. But for there to be zero mention (other notable performances) of Ettinger is definitely an oversight on someone's part.

it would be interesting to know if they would list the nominations?

I know that Dennis is going to say this is irrelevant, but does any oldtimers from the Lou remember Stanley Woods? Played at Gateway Tech in the mid 60's. He is still a street legend in the inner city basketball circles. Is said to have graduated at mid semester, which was pretty common in the PHL in those days. Players would play until late January and then graduate and not finish the basketball season. Jo Jo White did it at McKinley. Woods Supposedly was to have gone on to play at the University of Kansas. I can find nothing on him, either locally or any KU reference. He would today be in his late 60's, if alive. Go down to the inner city gym as Matthew's Dickey or Herbert Hoover and everyone knows he is a legend and was a little off kilter, always warmed up for the game without shoes is one story I have herd,  but little about him after he left the Lou. I was around in those days but did not really follow hoops until the late 60's. I have posted on several other area high school boards (I use a different name so this will drive Dennis crazy trying to find me on other boards) but have found nothing.

Not too many D3 baseball followers in SLIACland, but for anyone who might be interested, Webster will be hosting one of the 2016 D3 regional tournaments: http://www.d3baseball.com/notables/2015/12/2016-regionals-announced.

But there are several of us fans in the CCIW, which would also be at that regional.  I don't recall who else is in the Central Region in baseball.

I recall that NPU was at an early season tourney in Sauget (presumably at that stadium) - IIRC, other teams pulled out due to weather, but NPU went and played Webster.

WUPHF

Only one stadium in Sauget...the stadium is the home field for Webster.
