Right back at ya, good buddy. We ought to give a shout out to Ypsi and Sager as well who contribute helpfully often enough.

Mr. Ypsi

Merry Christmas to all the SLIAC folks - third favorite (of what, 35 or 40?) is still pretty good!  (As an IWU guy, CCIW is of course #1.  And I've now lived in Michigan more than twice as long as I lived in Illinois, so MIAA is #2.)

Same to you Hopefan. What could Dennis possible be mad about this time? It is the annual "you won't have Denny to kick around anymore cause I am never posting on this board again." And yes, you know he is still reading and yes he will start posting again.

Westminster has an interesting schedule this week.

The Blue Jays play Oglethorpe in Louisville, Kentucky and then drive over to Clarksville to play Austin Peay tomorrow afternoon.

The Stormy Petrels will play Spalding tomorrow.

Win-win for everyone, it seems.

I was going to say that how Westmin and Spalding each fare against Oglethorpe could give us some idea of how those two SLIAC teams compare to each other. Then I checked and saw that Westmin beat Spalding at Spalding 71-67 on Dec 2nd.

As Yjack knows, I'll be going nowhere to see any games... flooded in by the Merimac over the entrance to our subdivision... I only hope the waters are down in time to get out on Saturday to see a SLIAC conference game... it's questionable per the forecasts....

Funny story.. the people that live down the hill from us clearly had some sort of get together yesterday afternoon.. 6 cars in driveway... when they went to leave last night, guess what, they couldn't get out!!  Our neighbors may have to host those people for 4-5 more days!!

Someone living in that subdivision (maybe a retired guy) could build a movable bridge that would allow cars to drive over the flooding. Back in the day there was money to be made charging tolls to cross bridges.  :) :D

Westmin loses to Oglethorpe, 50-49, at Spalding, in front of a crowd of .... 30 die hard fans....

DON'T look at the box score... it's as ugly as it gets... to spare you, dear reader... 4 of 5 Westmin starters go scoreless, as the four go 0 for 16 from the field... Westmin goes 3 of 23 from 3's, 8 of 18 from the foul line, and miss a shot at the buzzer that would have won it... on the positive side, they forced 22 Ogie turnovers while turning it over themselves only 8 times...
If they could have made anything, they win....tomorrow they play D1 Austin Peay.. hope they shoot a lot better!

That is one depressing box score.

I made the mistake of looking when I should have just waited for the report.

How could they have possibly had four starters go scoreless?  Wild!

If you weren't flooded in you could have made the trip and increased attendance to 31.  ;D

The best thing about that road trip would have been the opportunity to eat at the Dark Horse Pub in Clarksville.  Best pub food I have ever had.  It is too bad that Clarksville is not on the way to Louisville.

That game did not hit my agenda... a little far to travel to see Westmin or Spalding play a so-so nonconference opponent.... Flood Water is supposed to crest tonight, but has to go down 15 feet if I am to get out of my subdivision for Saturday conference games... some schools within the conference may face travel problems, kids not getting back for practice etc.... Main route to Principia will be under, Westmin may have problems...don't know if Blackburn or Mac would be impacted.... some individual players may have difficult time getting out....

I have been looking forward to the upcoming week's SLIAC games for quite a while... hopefully no travel problems.. with teams so evenly matched, any game should be close... I'm rooting for a 10 team tie at .500 at season's end...

Saturday... Jan. 2... a full slate of 5 games, any are watchable, I'll stay close to home if I can get out through the receding flood waters, and watch Westmin   (3-0) at Fontbonne (1-2).... Fontbonne learned a lot about their potential vs Wash U, Westmin was horrible vs Oglethorpe, this should be an interesting game...

Sunday... Jan. 3.... Iowa Wesleyan at Truman.... IWC goes for a sweep of  D2's  in Missouri, already having defeated Maryville.... I think I'll watch Football that day....

Monday... Jan. 4.... Eureka at Webster... I'll sit next to YJack and other Webster fans, but will quietly root for underdog Eureka (let's get everyone to .500 as soon as possible)

Tuesday... Jan. 5....Blackburn at Principia.... let's hope the River road and Alton are clear by then... the game would seem to be in Prin's favor, though their depth is always a problem

Wednesday.... Jan.6.... 3 good games scheduled, I'll opt for the rivalry game between Fontbonne and Webster

Thursday.... Jan.7....Spalding at Iowa Wesleyan... I need to see Mt. Pleasant, Iowa some time, and this will be it... I think Spalding will get better as their youth learns, it may kick in here...

Friday... Jan. 8.... no SLIAC, I'll take my wife to a high school game.... ;D ;D ;D

Saturday.... Jan.9... a full slate with the marquee game being Mac at Webster....

Eight days, likely 6 (no, I'm not going up to Truman) games, only one lengthy travel... what a great stretch!!!!
