WUH, I've got a Stephen King collection you can borrow that might be a tad more entertaining. 😜

+1 I am a higher ed nerd for sure.  Apparently, I am one of two people ever to check out the History of MacMurray.  That is one more than I expected.

Unfortunately, I used MOBIUS to see if I could interlibrary loan histories of the other colleges, but it seems that no other SLIAC school has a institutional history written.  So, the good news for everyone else is that this is the last of it.  At least in the SLIAC thread.  Next up: A history of North Park College, commemorating the fiftieth anniversary, 1891-1941.

In the interest of staying off the topic of basketball, but on the topic at hand, I offer WUH this suggestion for a 512 page history of another D3 school: http://www.chalicepress.com/Bethany-College-P1306.aspx

Bethany...near the old hometown of Pittsburgh!!!!  Trivia.. ok Yjack, you know I coached way back when.. after 4 years as an assistant at RPI with pretty good success, I applied to several D3 schools for a head coaching job, as well as to an Ivy League school for an assistant position.. came real close to getting the Ivy job but missed... didn't get a sniff for the head jobs... the Bethany job was the one I was very disappointed about, because most of their athletes were from Pittsburgh and I knew Pittsburgh VERY well, with some very good contacts... given those results, I took my MBA and ran....

Leland Carlson, right? He was North Park's institutional historian for about a zillion years.

The last few posts make me feel better about my contributions.

I appreciate the tip on Bethany College.

Our library has the book on Bethany (KS), but not the West Virginia school.

I doubt you'll find the book on Bethany in WV in any area libraries. If you ever want to read it let me know and I can loan you one of our office copies (I work for the publisher).

um, might want to get the 2nd 76 years.  Mac operated for a period as two separate institutions.  From 1955 until 1969, MacMurray College for Men was separate stand alone institution until the two merged.  And, I think at one subsequent point they considered reverting to a women's only college as the enrollment numbers of men was so low.  It does not help that competition across the street, Illinois College, drew a greater number of men due to its level of sports.

The Fighting Swedes! You have to love a school whose nickname is based upon the belligerence of a nation that's consistently maintained a policy of political neutrality for over 200 years.

That was the period when they were known as the Flubbers.

As usual, totally depressed over the lack of information flow in the SLIAC site... I view the CCIW or the MIAA rooms and there is a consistent flow of recruiting information.. a new name practically every day... here, a big goose egg...of course if I don't find out about it to let people know, who will?  And some of our coaches have a habit of running scared, not willing to share names until September, for fear those names might change their minds... perhaps that mind set is a part of the problem....

I have not heard anywhere that Tyler Ulis is transferring from UK to Spalding.  :D
