Interesting about Kyler Stork.

Normal West is a big high school, Illinois Class 5A or 6A so to have a kid finish 2nd in school history in blocked shots and 5th in rebounds...

If he committed to Greenville, it may be that the only CCIW school he would have considered is Wheaton.

He has some very nice highlight videos: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4879310/kyler-stork

Surprised no response... was thinking we would get some kind of evaluation from CCIW guys

I don't have much to add, except that it's a fairly new school (ten years old??).  Records don't go back that far.

ouch... still, a big guy with the name Stork... PERFECT!!! ;D ;D
I can assure you - no kid coming out of a Bloomington - Normal high school that does not get a look by IWU.  Whether or not we recruited him , I do not know.

Well, there you go...

I do still think the highlight videos are impressive.

Big deal. Unless the D3 school in question is located in a major city such as Chicago, Philadelphia, or New York (which contain something like 200, 60, and 550 high schools, respectively), every D3 basketball program is aware of each of the kids who play for the high school or high schools in the town where that college or university is located. Any head coach who doesn't perform due diligence in checking out the local kids -- unless he's coaching at a school located in a major city or at a school that has highly specialized admissions requirements with regard to academics or religious background -- is a coach who will soon be looking for another job. I suppose that this point about local products might be worth stating, just because AFAIK I don't think that anybody's ever put it in pixels before on d3boards.com, but it's not as though Illinois Wesleyan bird-dogs its local high schools better than anybody else does. As I said, this is a commonplace.

As long as we're speculating here, I noticed that Kyler Stork also plays baseball for Normal West. Perhaps he chose Greenville because he wants the opportunity to continue playing both sports in college. While you'll still find a two-sport player from time to time among the Big Four sports in the CCIW, it's pretty rare nowadays, and it's certainly not encouraged by any of the league's coaches in the Big Four sports. They'll simply tolerate it if the kid is a top-end player.

Speaking of which.. Kyler Stork, 6'6"  secondbaseman... ??

Yeah, I was wondering about that. How often do you see a kid that tall who isn't playing first base, or at least 3b or one of the corner outfield spots?

Curious about 6'7" Kyler Stork from Normal West H.S. Did Illinois Wesleyan (or other CCIW schools) want him and lose him to Greenville, or did they not think him a CCIW caliber player?

I am not aware of any CCIW school that recruited Kyler Stork.

I am pretty sure iwumichigander was not suggesting this.  Nothing he posted suggested he was saying that IWU "bird-dogs its local high schools better" than other programs.  Seems like an very unnecessary scolding.

Gregory Sager

You're probably right. I apologize to Larry.

Q - thank-you for jumping in!  Greg- apology accepted but not needed.
Yes, I simply meant IWU pays attention to its backyard just like every good program.

The 2016-2017 Washington University schedule has been published: http://bearsports.wustl.edu/sports/mbkb/2016-17 schedule.

Just the two SLIAC teams on the schedule so far with Webster hosting what is probably the season opener for both teams and Fontbonne on the road.

I believe WUSTL has one more game to add in addition to announcing the fourth and final team for the Lopata Classic.

Rumored Blackburn commit

Would love to see him in an actual game being defended. There's really only one clip there that cycles three times it seems. I'd say you have offended Blackburn with your comment.
