Just notice another exhibition score.... Eastern Illinois 94  Eureka  58

Looks like Ryan Mcelmurry got the start, which when grouped with Hank Thomas and Shea Feehan, means 3 starters at 5'10" (which is likely an overstatement)... McElmurry didn't get many minutes with foul trouble, 6'2" Kendall Davis played a lot off the bench... hard to imagine how Eureka will stay on the boards with most teams, as I don't picture either Parker Gibson or Alex Wiegand as strong rebounders... Brady Sander got 12 minutes, but didn't score...Eureka outrebounded 51-25... hopefully relatively meaningless against D1 competition...

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Wasn't his dad both a high-school baseball and basketball coach downstate somewhere?
Yes, ummm, maybe had a difference of opinion with Trost as to PT

Well darn, the Billikins didn't get 124 points against Ball State like they did vs Greenville...They got 64 and lost by +20.... Travis Ford has his work cut out for him, but watch out in another year or two!!

4 more days till D3!!!

Drury 32 - Webster 28 halftime. Ward 8 points for Webster.

Final Drury 82-Webster 75. Ward and Milligan 16 points each, Moore 13 for Webster. My video feed had really clear resolution but was choppy. A couple of times in the first half it cut out when in full screen with a message saying the internet connection was too slow for the video. Hard to believe since I have Charter. First time I've every had that problem. Point being that it was hard to get a feel for the game as a result. But that outcome for Webster against the preseason #22 team in D2 has to be encouraging. It was Drury's first regular season game, but an exhibition for Webster.

I am not sure if you would be interested, but the video archive of Webster vs. Drury is online at: http://www.glvcsn.com/drury/

I like the fact that Moore, Ward, and Milligan all finished with double figures for Webster... those are the guys that need to do it on a consistent basis... minutes were spread among everyone I expected.. good to see frosh Enrique Tankins played, heard he broke his nose in practice on Wednesday.  Webster didn't shoot well from threes, but hit 50% overall, and very well from the line.. rebounding pretty even, a few too many turnovers... all in all, it seems a pretty positive effort!!!

Unfortunately, nothing up at all on Prin - Oakland City game.. both school sites mum on a result...as of 10:45PM...

3 more days 'til the real thing!!

One day away from openers... what can we expect on a busy day for the SLIAC

Augie at Macmurray.... Augie picked 3rd in CCIW, 18th nationally... Mac lost so much, can the new faces make a difference?   Augie

Greenville at Knox...  Knox won 2 games last year, and lost their 3 top scorers... but note a couple of results from last year.. they beat Blackburn, and lost to St. Norbert by only 3... GC needs to be careful, cut down on turnovers...   Greenville

Blackburn at Wabash... under most circumstances Wabash no contest... BUT... Wabash lost 4 of their 6 top players, 2 leading scorers... Blackburn returns 4 starters, all very good athletes...do they have the discipline to play a solid game on the road this early in the season...
Good young coach... go with the upset... Blackburn

Central (Iowa) at Iowa Wesleyan... Central pickd to win IIAC.... good enough for me.... Central

Note Westminster plays at Maryville in an exhibition.

HEY HEY  Eureka currently playing D1 Loyola Chicago, down only 3 with 5 minutes left 1st half

Principia at Missouri S&T... I'm going to be a Principia fan this year (I hope)... Counting on new coach to put the pieces together... but not against D2 Mo S&T... Mo S & T

Wash U at Webster...  Webster has the quicks, Wash U has the size... Webster throws up their zone, will Wash U shoot over it or find the open man inside....Webster performance vs Drury impressive, but I can'r go against Wash U...   Wash U

Loyola 37 EC 33 late in the first half.  Looking strong so far!

Well, as many of these matchups of D3 vs D1 go, D3 comes out totally pumped, playing with so much inspiration, stays close for a while, then runs out of gas in the second half.... Still those first halfs are fun to watch...  Loyola 97  EC 59   Transfer Kendall Davis leads EC with 16 points..EC clobbered on the boards, losing rebound battle 48-25

It's what it is--we hung in for awhile.  Kendall had a nice game and we showed good energy and effort.   Obviously this roster lacks size, but in the SLIAC it won't hurt as much as pure athleticism will track down a lot of boards.  EC has athletes and players who can score the ball.  It will take some time to figure out team chemistry and rotation, but there are some nice pieces here--expecting a big year in conference play.

In other news, Matt Chastain, Loyola freshman from nearby Leroy, IL went down with what hopefully is not a serious knee injury.  Small school player who won a state championship last year and got late season looks from Utah among others, ended up smartly settling on an MVC school.  Good local story, hopefully his season didn't end before it started.

Also, I think it is cool that you are adopting Principia as your team this year.  That school needs all the good basketball karma they can get...

Looks like MS&T had two exhibitions against Division I opponents...looks like those nerds can play.
