FC...  Couldn't agree more regarding your assessment of Coach Knight!  A true gem in the business and though he will always have his naysayers, Coach Knight's positive contributions to the game and to many college kids have significantly outweighed his controversial and sometimes egregious behaviors!

Mr. Ypsi

BunchTime,

I largely agree (his graduation rate puts most d1 coaches to shame), but he still better never set foot in Puerto Rico again!  As far as I've ever heard, the warrant for his arrest is still active! ;)

Being from Indiana, I grew up watching Knight coach.  I have always been a huge Knight fan.  Southern Indiana is Cream & Crimson everywhere.  When Knight was fired, it was a mess.  It's funny because in all the sports stores now, you can buy Indiana and Texas Tech stuff.  That's how much Bob Knight still means to basketball fans in So. Indiana.

Great assessments of his accomplishments and some downfalls.  As has been said numerous times.  I would send my son to play for him because they are going to become a solid man and get their degree.

Panther  - if you are still in Indiana for the weekend, and anywhere near Hanover - I notice Hope women's team - no 1 in the polls - is playing Friday, Saturday at Hanover tourney - they open with Div II Missouri St Louis at 8:00   -   might be interesting for you to see them and compare their level with SLIAC -  you may also see a number of fans have actually taken the trip from Michigan to follow the team

fcnews and BeaverSID - I need your Pick 'em selections today. Game tonight. We don't want this to be a two-man race between myself and PantherPride for the next two months.

I don't know Mac - I've got the feeling that FCnews is out on the beach prepping for today's game with the rest of the Griffins vs Tampa.   I'll be shocked if we here from him until next week....

Hope Fan - Maybe you can make picks for fcnews this week? Hate to see the Pick 'em fall aprt this early in the season. Lots of good SLIAC basketball ahead of us...

Anyone else want to pick up where fcnews left off? He's in first place. Hard to pass up a bargain like that. Come on guys - let's show some interest and enthusiasm for the SLIAC teams. The "Pick 'em" is an excellent way to follow all of the teams and appreciate the work their putting in. First come, first served.

Mac,

I see you have a Mickie Sellars on your roster, he is actually one of my good friends from home. I didnt know he was playing Basketball anymore.

Mac Attack

Thanks for your picks, BeaverSID.

Mickie is a very talented first year player. Without a JV team, he hasn't had a chance to play much, but he has looked very good in practice and the few minutes he's been on the floor during games. I think he has a future at MacMurray, but right now he's stuck behind some other pretty good players who have 2-3 years experience. The Highlanders also have two other pretty good freshmen - Adam Polson and Eric Elsner. Polson has seen the most minutes of the freshmen and has done well. Very good outside shooter who was a Champaign News Gazette first team all area pick last year as a senior at Armstrong-Potomic. Elsner, who is from Mendota, is a very good ballhandler, passer, and defender. Sellers, Polson, and Elsner will contribute quite a bit down the road. There's a chance MacMurray may add one or two players at the break through mid-year transfers. Expect Coach Hettinga and his staff to work hard at recruiting and building the Highlander program so that it will compete for a SLIAC championship every year.
