Greek Tragedy

Well, I just can't convince myself to drive 6 hours to Greenville on a Thursday. The good news is that next year the men's tournament is Friday/Saturday. Even if it's not in "nearest by" Eureka, I can rationalize an overnight trip on the weekend for three games. But, hopefan has to make an effort to join me.

Also, excited that the Final Four next year will be 8 hours closer to me in Fort Wayne rather than Salem.

Went and watched Senior Day at EC this past weekend and noticed Shea Feehan was honored as a "senior"

Still has 1 year of eligibility left but it appears he may not be using it at Eureka next year.  Would be a real bummer to see him go.  With the group of guys returning next year I think they had a chance to make some serious noise and possibly get some national recognition.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out

What??? Say it ain't so!

I heard the same thing on the video-cast of Saturday's game... with the qualifier from the announcers "it's not yet a certainty".....   Remember prior to this season I reported I had heard a rumor that he was "shopping" for his junior year.....   Let's hope he does come back... they have a nice bunch of guys returning, though national recognition might be stretching it....The SLIAC should be very good next year as a whole...

There is something to be said about the turn around at Blackburn...

Kollar represents a break from the recent past.

2007-2008  5-19 (3-13)
2008-2009  5-20 (3-13)
2009-2010  4-20 (2-14)
2010-2011  7-18 (3-13)
2011-2012  7-18 (4-12)
2012-2013  2-23 (2-14)
2013-2014  2-23 (2-16)
2014-2015  6-19 (5-13)
__________________________
2015-2016  10-15 (9-9)
2016-2017  12-13 (9-9)
2017-2018  14-11 (10-8)

Not a bad three year turnaround. Believe BC has a decent amount returning next year, and Kollar definitely has a reputation for being one of the more active recruiters in the SLIAC. Would expect them to be even better next year if he can replace Scott.

He was first tabbed as a head coach by Webster University in 2000 where he was 23-28 over two years. In only his second year there, his team won a SLIAC championship and he was recognized as the conference coach of the year."

It is interesting that Blackburn was able to hire away a coach from Webster after he won the coach of the year.

Between Webster and Blackburn he spent one year as an assistant at a D2 school in California: "
Between head coaching positions, Kaneshiro spent a season on the California State University-Stanislaus staff as the head assistant coach."

WUPHF

Interesting, I guess it took a few years to find the right fit.

I did not remember this, though I am sure it was discussed here, but Coach Kollar played at Greenville before transferring to Elmhurst.

Unfortunately, the D3Hoops.com archives on the Blackburn team-specific page only go back to 2006-2007.

The Blackburn Athletics website has erased the history of the program entirely.  The Beavers may celebrate their heritage on-campus for all I know, but they have nothing to speak of virtually except for a list of members of the Hall of Fame.  They need to do better in that regard.

Agreed. We have database info from more seasons, but importing it is a long, long project that I haven't really even put on a priority list. I should!

I am sure there are posters who would love you to go back and post records prior to 2006-2007, but personally, I am not sure I would recommend it for the priority list.

Pat Coleman

Right! And it's not as simple as just posting the record -- to generate that record for everyone we need the results of every game.

We have them, but the database needs a lot of massaging to conform to the standards we currently use. And many games from 2005-06 and before are already in the database, so we could potentially duplicate a lot of results if we don't do it right.

I shouldn't assume you know about the site NCAA.com....stats from way back are easily researched and viewed for every NCAA team back to the 40's... unfortunately the two page report was not always submitted in a properly completed format... Page 1 was player stats, which was usually properly completed, page 2 was scores of every game, which I find was not always turned in properly... still a wealth of info at the touch of the computer key...I've had great fun remembering names and teams of the 50s, 60s, 70s and looking up stats and scores....the data was entered on handwritten sheets... starting in the late 90's, it came in on computer entry and is much easier to view...

+1 I do use NCAA.com as well but D3Hoops.com is so much easier and faster (a lot of those NCAA.org reports take so long to load) so I prefer to use it when possible.  I did not realize the records went back so far though.  I'll have to go back and look.

Is there a way to compare SOS for a team through the years? Would be interested to see how Blackburn's schedule this year stacked up against Blackburn schedules of the past.

PM knightslappy over in the MIAA room... he may have prior years data from all his work, or may be able to reference one of the other data gurus.... I personally never got that far in my spreadsheets....

The Massey Ratings also have an archive that goes back a long way.  Massey has their own strength of schedule formulation that is not connected to the NCAA, but it gives you some idea of the schedule season to season.
